The Celestial General Xuanyu confronted Qingyi, who dismissed him with contempt. Despite Xuanyu's attempts to assert his authority and power, Qingyi remained unimpressed, provoking him further. Both combatants had their power levels sealed to match, leading to an intense battle where their bloodline projections—a dragon and a serpent—collided, unleashing a devastating shockwave that reshaped the landscape.

"Ah... if I'd known you were this disappointing, I would have limited my cultivation even further!" Xuanyu declared arrogantly, though the frustration seeping into his voice was impossible to hide.

Between the two of them, spear and sword remained locked in a standoff, grinding against each other with the shriek of tortured metal.

A powerful golden Qi, shrouded in divine thunder, roared against a purple Qi wrapped in lightning laden with destruction, their clash filling the air with the sharp stench of scorched ozone.

"If you want to open that filthy mouth, open it to tell me what you want with my child," Qingyi growled, his fingers tightening around the sword hilt until his knuckles whitened. "Anything else won't lessen the amount of pain you'll feel when you die."

In the next instant, Qingyi pressed forward, breaking the contact between the blades with a thunderous burst.

The shockwave forced him to retreat ten steps through the air, each step leaving ripples in the void.

Xuanyu, for his part, had to retreat eleven.

It was a minuscule difference, almost imperceptible, but it was still more than enough to fill Xuanyu's heart with fury.

How could he retreat one step farther than Qingyi?

"You fucking insect, face your death with dignity!" Xuanyu roared, charging at Qingyi and tearing through the sky like a golden arrow.

His spear collided with the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword once again, sparks of gold and violet exploding from the point of contact.

This time, the two blades ricocheted with a metallic screech, the force of the impact hurling both fighters backward.

Qingyi spat out a mouthful of blood, while a thin red line ran from the corner of Xuanyu's lips.

'So this is the power of a true genius from the Realm of True Gods,' Qingyi repeated in his mind, the metallic taste still lingering on his tongue.

He was satisfied.

He was almost using his full power, and yet, within the same cultivation realm, Xuanyu could still fight him on equal footing.

Qingyi sighed, his eyes growing colder and colder.

"Uh…" Xuanyu wiped the blood from his lips with the back of his hand, a wry smile forming on his face.

"Do you really want to know that badly what I'm going to do with your child? Well, it depends. It's customary for us to take both the child and the mother to our main base, where the mother is given a worthy husband and the child is raised by our greatest masters.

"If your child is a boy, he'll be able to become one of the heir disciples and will never even know your filthy name. If it's a girl… I'll wait for her to grow older. Perhaps she'll make a good wife for me, hahahahaha!"

Xuanyu's laughter died abruptly as an even louder laugh burst from Qingyi, echoing across the entire battlefield.

A cold laugh, without a single drop of emotion.

"Ah… hahahaha… You really want to suffer so much that you'll beg for death, huh?" Qingyi drew back the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword and struck.

Very well.

Xuanyu would die in agony.

Xuanyu obviously noticed the sword's movement, moving immediately to parry the blow.

But a heartbeat later, a faint look of confusion crossed his face.

That strike didn't carry the same power as before.

A feint.

Xuanyu's eyes widened.

Too late.

Qingyi's fist struck his face with a muffled thud, cartilage crunching beneath his knuckles as it crushed his nose and shattered his jaw, along with all his front teeth.

He hadn't expected that blow.

Xuanyu's body flew backward, engulfed by a sea of flames as it broke the sound barrier, the friction with the air turning his trajectory into that of a comet.

He didn't hit the ground, but rather the unbreakable barrier the heavens had formed around the battlefield.

His body slammed into it with arms outstretched, the impact booming like a struck bell. The barrier didn't budge even a hair's breadth, so every ounce of that force went straight into his bones.

Among great cultivators, battles could end quickly, with a single exchange of blows powerful enough to make the entire world tremble. They could drag on for months. Or, in other cases, they could end abruptly, with a single mistake.

Xuanyu recovered from the blow to his face just in time to take the next strike straight to his stomach.

The fist sank deep into his flesh, turning his organs to dust and punching a jet of blood from his lips.

"Pig…" Qingyi gripped Xuanyu's neck tightly, feeling the enemy's throat constrict beneath his fingers.

The young Celestial General counterattacked in desperation, one punch landing on Qingyi's chest and another on his face.

The impacts of both blows spread out around them in powerful shockwaves, causing space itself to vibrate.

The young dragon retreated for a moment, parrying Xuanyu's third punch with his own fist.

Their right hands collided.

Bone met bone with a crack like splitting stone.

Qingyi slid backward, his arm popping out of its socket, a warm numbness rising to the tips of his fingers.

Xuanyu, on the other hand, crashed back into the barrier, a pained cry tearing from his lips. His arm was broken in three places, bent at angles no arm should ever know.

He tried to recover, of course, but Qingyi was already upon him once more, a beam of sword Qi hissing through the air and shattering his remaining arm.

For the first time, something other than arrogance flashed in Xuanyu's eyes.

"Ugh… you son of a bitch, I'm the son of the Grand Elder! You don't dare kill me! The Celestial Court will never let you get away with this!"

Qingyi laughed coldly at those words.

"I won't kill you, no. You don't deserve to die yet—not with so little pain. But don't worry."

Qingyi refused to kill Xuanyu without the Flames of Primordial Chaos.

That would be unfair. It would be too much mercy.

A man who dared to target his child deserved no such kindness.

He needed to cure his own body before he could wield the Flames of Primordial Chaos again. Only then could he kill Xuanyu with a smile on his face.

Qingyi stomped hard on Xuanyu's leg; the bone gave way beneath his feet with a wet crack.

The young prodigy screamed in despair, his entire body thrashing like an animal caught in a trap.

"Go back to that wretched Celestial Court and tell them everything you've seen here—to every single one of those pigs.

"Every elder, every disciple, men and women, from the immortals to the spirit beasts—let them prepare their necks for the butcher's blade."

Qingyi punched. His fist struck Xuanyu's face and sank into his skull, smashing his head against the barrier as if he were crushing a cockroach.

Warm blood spurted between his fingers, spreading across the cracked earth.

Qingyi let Xuanyu's soul escape toward a life-saving artifact in the Celestial Court.

"Live while you can, worm. My blade is coming for you."
