Rouxi goes into labor, and as her condition worsens, the heavens themselves react violently. A Celestial General, Qing Xuanyu, descends to claim the "Child of Destiny" born from Rouxi. Qingyi, enraged by the heavens' interference and the General's arrogance, declares that everyone, including the General and the Celestial Court, will die.

"Death?" The Celestial General seemed genuinely confused by Qingyi's words, as if he'd just heard something absurd.

A laugh full of contempt escaped his lips. "Didn't you hear me, inferior? I am—"

"A pig of the Primordial Chaos, the Land of the True Gods. I know it very well." Qingyi grunted, without the slightest interest.

It was frustrating not to be able to use the Flames of Primordial Chaos.

He wanted to see despair on Qing Xuanyu's face—the same despair he had seen in that dragon elder's eyes.

The Flames of Life worked, of course, but their destructive potential was far too small. Using them to attack would be a waste.

Xuanyu froze at such disrespect.

The confusion vanished. His eyes went cold, and he held out a hand.

The power of the heavens—the same power that kept the Celestial Emperors at bay—descended, enveloping Qingyi's pavilion in a protective bubble.

Qingyi made no move to stop it.

It was obvious that, at least for now, the Celestial Court wanted his child unharmed.

Fine. He could kill Xuanyu first. Then he would settle his scores with the heavens.

Qingyi floated upward, passing through the barrier, the wind tugging at the sleeves of his robes.

He lifted his gaze to Xuanyu, purple eyes brimming with frost.

"Come down. It hurts my neck—and my pride—to have to look up at a worm I'm about to kill."

Xuanyu's face twisted in disdain, and a dry laugh rasped in his throat.

His right arm rose, the fabric of his celestial robes stretching taut over powerful muscles.

He opened his hand.

From the heavens, a golden bolt of lightning descended, tearing through the air with a sharp hiss until it struck his open palm. The smell of ozone burned in its wake.

An explosion engulfed his arm. When the flash and the roar faded, a golden spear remained in his grip.

His fingers clenched around the shaft, Qi flooding the weapon. The spear's gold coiled over his hand and slithered up his arm like a living serpent, fangs parting before sinking into his shoulder.

Qingyi stared at the weapon, unimpressed.

It was clearly a mana weapon, strangely converted to function as a Qi weapon.

And its power was no less than that of the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword.

"You really are a sickening guy, aren't you? I'm too young to have known that Long Wujin, but my master spoke of him. He truly was—"

"I don't care about you, your cuckolded master, or how much you two sucked Wujin's dick in the Land of the True Gods."

Qingyi cut him off without ceremony.

"You're here, your cultivation limited to the same level as mine, and your weapon no less powerful than mine. Very well. Bring that disgusting head over here so I can rip it off your shoulders."

Xuanyu fell silent.

He wasn't surprised that Qingyi knew about the Land of the True Gods. The entire Celestial Court already knew the man was Wujin's heir.

What truly filled his mouth with a terrible bitterness was the disrespect.

He would have liked to come with his cultivation at full strength. He couldn't.

The Celestial Court had built its entire dominion over the Celestial Heavens to secure access to every "Child of Destiny"-level talent in that wretched region.

That was how they had secured many of the most powerful experts in the current court.

Still, there were far too many limitations on how they could act.

Xuanyu swung his spear. The golden tip ripped the air apart with a crack like a whip.

Qingyi gripped the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword at his waist. The blade slid free of its sheath with a long metallic ring.

Small arcs of lightning danced along the edge, crackling softly.

The two stared each other down.

The air between them seemed to sink, heavy, as if the heavens themselves were holding their breath.

Their cultivation was locked at the very same level.

Xuanyu was a genius born of the Land of the True Gods. Qingyi, of the Mortal Heaven.

There was no excuse for either of them.

Xuanyu braced his foot against the void, dark eyes burning with an intense golden light.

He leaned forward, leveled the spear at Qingyi, and kicked off the void behind him.

Space crackled under the thrust, and his body shot forward, a streak of gold splitting the sky.

Three snakes wreathed in golden flames spun around the tip of his spear, whirling, cleaving the air ahead.

Behind him, a gigantic serpent emerged, jaws gaping wide, trailing his charge as if ready to devour Qingyi along with the strike itself.

At that very moment, Qingyi's bloodline projection awoke at his back.

A dragon's roar engulfed the entire Celestial Orthodox Martial Alliance.

It was the same roar that had once made many of the Celestial Emperors now watching this battle tremble.

The Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword and Xuanyu's spear collided. Lightning bit into gold, and the shock of the impact rammed up both their arms.

In the same breath, the golden serpent and the black dragon slammed together, the serpent's body coiling around the dragon's neck while the dragon's fangs sank deep into serpentine flesh.

For complete primordial lineages, the projection was more than just an ethereal form.

Both the dragon and the serpent were there, physically. Their bodies were real. Scale ground against scale, muscle against muscle.

For a moment, there was only silence.

In the next instant, the explosion came.

The shockwave from their clash swept across the world below. Shielded by the barrier, Qingyi's pavilion stood untouched. Around it, destruction spread like a tide, carving a crater that stretched on for kilometers.

Dust and rock rose like a curtain, and the smell of churned earth and scorched air flooded everything.

And even then, the destruction did not stop.

The gale that followed uprooted entire trees. Ancient trunks toppled one after another, with crashes that, on any other day, would have been deafening.

That day, the sound of the clash between those two swallowed everything.
