The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System Chapter 851 - Regret

"B-barbecue?" The fattie almost peed his pants right there.
"N-no, no way! I have terrible taste!" He stumbled back a step, waving his pudgy hands frantically in front of his body.
"Do you know how I got all this fat? That mortal creation called fast food!—the deadliest food there is, the worst kind of food! My meat is probably nothing but greasy, low-quality fat!"
"Hahaha! Relax, fatso, I'm just messing with you. Human meat is terrible."
The enormous tiger—half beast, half man—let out a thunderous laugh, reaching out one gigantic hand to ruffle Xiaohu's hair as if petting a cub.
To Qingyi, who could send Bai Hu Lie off to the land of dreams with a few punches, and to other geniuses of the same caliber, jokes like that were easy to shrug off.
To someone like Xiaohu, however, Bai Hu Lie was basically a cruel, bloodthirsty beast ready to kill him at any moment.
"Come on, have a drink. Today's a great day, and I'm not in the mood to kill."
Those words didn't put Xiaohu at ease in the slightest.
He was a human—fragile and delicate.
Of course, not all humans were fragile and delicate, but he certainly was. His cheeks were pink and as soft as a baby's.
Elder Ling had adopted him after his former family cast him out, simply because the boy's refinement pleased the old man.
As a scholar, Xiaohu had never had much contact with the Beast People, but he knew plenty about them.
Or, at least, he thought he did.
Some were refined—peacocks, herons, eagles… Others, however, especially red dragons, bears, lions, and tigers, embraced a primal lifestyle.
Bai Hu Lie was a prime example.
He loved to hunt and fight, and the same was true even of Long Qingyi's wives, though in a different way.
Lingxue and Lanyin, the foxes, were mature and refined Beast Women. Linyue, Khaedryss, Yunxi, and Xueyao, on the other hand, were basically their complete opposites.
Khaedryss was a bit more restrained because of her age, but the other three formed a small pack of menaces to society. Fortunately, their mischief stayed mostly confined to the world of the minds.
Well, it was only natural.
The Beast People had their… well… unique racial tendencies. But they were just as intelligent as humans—and often far more so.
Bai Hu Lie, for example, was completely different from his sister. Even within his own family there were refined tigers, unlike him, who shamelessly embraced his wilder side.
Of course, Xiaohu knew nothing of this.
He looked at Bai Hu Lie and judged both him and the entire Beast Clan based solely on his books.
He had never been particularly fond of video transmission devices, nor of studying the Beast People in person—even though ten percent of the Alliance's disciples came from the Beast Clan.
In the end, as Qingyi and Bai Hu Lie settled around a large table, Xiaohu could only follow in defeat, shuffling along like a condemned man on his way to the gallows.
"How was the trip?" Qingyi asked, pulling a large bottle of high-quality liquor from his spatial ring.
The seal popped open with a soft snap, and a sweet, potent aroma spread through the air.
Qingyi poured a glass for himself, another for the fattie, and then handed the entire bottle to Bai Hu Lie, who accepted it with a satisfied grunt.
"Well… it was good." Bai Hu Lie took a long swig straight from the neck of the bottle, wiped his lips with the back of his hand, and spoke much more calmly this time.
He was a wild battle lunatic, but he was still the heir to one of the wealthiest sects in the Northern Region.
Obviously, there was refinement hidden beneath that fight-obsessed personality.
After every training session with his father, some of his stepmothers would always force him into lessons on etiquette and how to behave like a civilized person.
"I took all the pills you gave me. The power is amazing..." Bai Hu Lie clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles cracked.
For a moment, a sharp pressure radiated from him, making the air in the room grow heavier. A chill crawled down the back of Xiaohu's neck.
Very discreetly, Xiaohu dragged his chair a few centimeters away.
In terms of talent, Bai Hu Lie now probably ranked among the top ten of the entire Celestial Heavens.
"Apparently, I owe you a huge debt now, you damned dragon," he said bitterly, taking another generous gulp.
"I've already accepted your sister as payment; there's no debt at all," Qingyi teased, drawing a roar of laughter from the tiger.
Soon, Bai Hu Lie's gaze fell on Xiaohu, who had relaxed considerably after watching the tiger act so civilized.
"And you, chubby little human, what's your story?" Bai Hu Lie narrowed his eyes. "Your talent isn't bad, but your cowardice and your strength don't make you worthy of sitting here."
It was a bit harsh, but not exactly a lie.
Among cultivators, the greatest sin was a lack of strength, for it always resulted in one's own death.
The second greatest sin was cowardice, because it always resulted in the deaths of those around the coward.
"He's Elder Ling's adopted son," Qingyi remarked casually.
"Oh… that makes sense." Bai Hu Lie nodded, rising from his chair. "Still, you have to be strong."
He motioned for Xiaohu to stand as well.
Trembling, the fattie didn't dare disobey. His wobbly legs nearly gave way as he pushed himself up.
The tiger studied him for a long moment, circling him slowly.
He poked the round belly with one finger, he squeezed the plump shoulders, and even leaned in to sniff the air once or twice.
Xiaohu's soul nearly left his body.
Then, the tiger's eyes lit up.
"Hm… your physique has great potential!" Bai Hu Lie declared.
Qingyi raised an eyebrow, confused, then bought an artifact that allowed him to see the physique of any target.
The moment he used it on Xiaohu, his eyes widened.
That was… the Physique of the Primordial Fist Monarch, one of the most powerful human physiques in all the Celestial Heavens!
"Don't worry, fattie! We'll train you and make you a man worthy of your physique!" Bai Hu Lie boomed, slapping Xiaohu on the shoulder so hard it nearly bent him in half.
"You're Tianjin's son-in-law now, Qingyi—you must have your own training arena. Come on, let's start right now!"
Xiaohu shuddered, regretting from the bottom of his soul ever offering Qingyi a drink.
He'd just wanted to forge a bond of friendship with a powerful young talent! Now he, a core disciple, found himself getting bullied by a recruit who hadn't even been officially accepted into the sect yet.
Wasn't this world just too cruel?
