The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife Chapter 1924: Three Groups
Previously on The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife...
The crowd held their breath, over a dozen gun barrels aimed at the hallway ahead, ready to turn anything that emerged into a sieve.
"Everyone, stay alert, and move forward slowly." Director Jin commanded, as the group cautiously advanced. There might be mutants inside, they couldn’t bring all their weapons here, but it didn’t matter. This was North America, and the Netherworld Palace already had influence here. The weapons and bullets they had were provided by the Netherworld Palace, specifically designed to deal with mutants, and extremely powerful.
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Stop, stay quiet." Jin Li seemed to sense something. From inside, there were faint sounds, hurried, like footsteps, sounding... very fast.
"Something is approaching here."
"Yes, and it seems like a large group of things." Jing Xie said coldly, his finger tightly on the trigger, eyes fixed ahead, ready to fire at the slightest movement.
The footsteps became increasingly heavy, indicating that whatever it was getting closer to them, probably... just around the corner.
"Raise your guns, prepare."
Bam.
A figure suddenly darted out from around the corner. Director Jin abruptly raised his hand, signaling everyone not to shoot.
"It’s not a mutant, it’s an ordinary person." Jin Li shouted loudly. Everyone was on edge; if he had been even a moment later, the person before them would’ve been riddled with bullets...
"So many people."
More people followed behind that person, running out as if they’d seen a ghost, panicked, ignoring the dozens of guns pointed at them. In such a place in North America, having a gun pointed at you typically meant you’d better raise your hands or risk your life, but to see that they weren’t even afraid of the dark gun barrels could only mean something more terrifying was behind them.
"Everyone, stop." Jin Li didn’t want to harm them but needed to find out who they were.
"Please... don’t shoot."
"Who are you all?" Jin Li questioned. The corridor was narrow, and the members of the National Security Bureau blocked the way with guns pointed at them, leaving the crowd no path forward.
"We... we were all kidnapped, and some were deceived to come here, please save us."
"Don’t kill us, there... there are monsters behind us."
"What."
"There are monsters chasing us."
"Everyone, listen up, make way, let them pass." Jin Li commanded. The group split into two, leaving a path in the middle, urging everyone to pass quickly. Behind them was an elevator that couldn’t transport everyone down immediately, so they had to wait for now, but with so many "strangers" suddenly storming in, they weren’t scared but instead seemed to have found a guardian, quickly hiding behind them.
"Everyone, be alert, there might be mutants ahead."
Growls.
"They’ve appeared, open fire." At Jin Li’s command, the crowd immediately concentrated their firepower, bullets shooting towards the corner of the corridor, turning the three mutants that emerged into sieves.
"Cease fire, cease all fire."
Jing Xie led a few people to inspect, using a long knife to sever their heads as a precaution, given these were mutants, who knew if they wouldn’t suddenly "revive."
"A few of you keep watch ahead, stay alert, there might still be mutants here, understand?" Jing Xie commanded.
"Yes."
Jin Li found a woman and carefully inquired about the situation inside.
"Inside is a ’prison’, we were kidnapped and brought here. They experimented with live humans, injecting drugs into people, and then took them away. We were all tied up, but just now, the door opened, and we took the chance to escape, only to encounter those over two-meter-tall monsters, killing anyone they saw."
From their description, Jin Li roughly understood the situation inside, which could be described as "hell on earth."
"Are there still people inside who haven’t escaped?"
"Unclear, but many were captured."
"Alright, you hurry down." Jin Li left a few people to operate the elevator, sending these survivors down in batches.
"Director Jin, what do we do next?"
"Continue forward, there might still be survivors inside."
"Yes."

Another route.
"Nightmare, what exactly is hidden here, all these twists and turns." At the same time, the team led by Nightmare seemed much more "at ease". They appeared to be trapped in a "labyrinth", having wandered for a long time, seemingly going in circles. In reality, it’s normal to feel like this because their path led to the underground "basement" of the research laboratory.
Rather than a basement, it was more like an underground fortress. The lower part seemed larger and more complex than the above.
"This place is surprisingly quiet, is there really not a single person here?" Nightmare was very cautious; the quieter it was, the more likely there was an ambush.
"Could it be that everyone here ran away, or that there’s a tunnel here?" Soul Destroyer retorted.
"Can’t rule it out, hopefully, George hasn’t escaped yet." Nightmare was well aware of the objective and significance of this mission. Only by capturing George, the mastermind behind, could the HST project be considered completely finished, and the threat truly eradicated. If George escaped again, it would just be "treating the symptoms rather than the root cause"; within half a year to a year, such a research facility could be rebuilt.
Moreover, according to their previous experiences, every base the opponent had constructed tunnels for escape. This was headquarters, so it shouldn’t be an exception, and since it’s a tunnel, it must be underground, near them.
"Everyone, listen to orders, spread out completely, form groups of five, and check for any tunnels here. If there’s any intuition, report immediately." Nightmare commanded.
"Yes."
"Demoness, Soul Destroyer, you each also take ten people to act."
"What if we encounter mutants, here’s completely deserted, an ambush might’ve been set a long time ago. Once we scatter, we might be defeated one by one." Soul Destroyer was somewhat worried; they already experienced how formidable the mutants’ strength was in Yanjing, and they weren’t easy to handle. If they really encountered them, five Hidden Guards wouldn’t be enough, especially since there weren’t just one or two mutants here.
"If you encounter mutants, ignore them, don’t engage, retreat immediately. Our goal is to find the tunnel as soon as possible; if George has really escaped, that would be a real trouble."
