Reinhardt sealed away a dangerous finger using his skill, impressing Vanessa who noted his increased power. Their conversation was interrupted by news that the Second Division had succeeded against the demonic horde, but the Third Division, including Hell Marshal and Dark Knight Vaerion, had entered a Labyrinth chasing Vaerion and were now cut off. Reinhardt ordered the First Division to halt and fortify, while the Fifth and Sixth Divisions were put on standby. He then left to reinforce the Third Division. Three days later, Reinhardt and the Third Division explored the ruined Labyrinth, finding no enemies and realizing it had been ransacked by demons, leaving little of value.

Just as everyone prepared to leave, Reinhardt’s eyes was suddenly attracted to an old metallic plaque half buried beneath moss and debris.

The ancient language engraved upon it was one nobody present here could understand.

However, Reinhardt possessed the divine trait [Heaven’s Memory]. As such, he could easily read it.

Written in the plaque in ancient runic letters were three words.

"Bomb Testing Site..."

Reinhardt swept his eyes across the enormous underground field once more.

Gigantic circular craters, burnt black walls, even after hundreds of years, the place still carried traces of terrifying heat.

Now that he thought about it, the more obvious it became that this place had once been used to test weapons.

Since the advent of demons, humanity had desperately researched methods to kill them.

Ancient mankind had not relied solely on swords and magic. They had pursued every possible path.

Alchemy, machinery, biological enhancement... you name it.

Among them included weapon of mass destruction, bombs powerful enough to erase entire hordes of demons.

Reinhardt’s expression grew thoughtful.

Could the demons have intentionally destroyed this place because the research here once threatened them?

Did they fear whatever had been created here?

As that thought crossed his mind, another memory surfaced.

Several years ago, when they received Lunar Veil’s call for aid. At that time, together with the knights of Lunar Veil, they explored a shelter.

Inside the depths of this shelter, they found a carefully stored cube, which was later identified to be the schematics for Vermis Ultima.

A superweapon capable of annihilating demonic forces on a catastrophic scale.

Even now, Solaris’ finest researchers were struggling to decipher it. The technology gap between the current age and the ancient era was simply too vast.

Could this place be related to that project? The more he thought about it, the more plausible it sounded.

Suddenly, Reinhardt turned around and strode back toward the broken plaque.

"Divine Paladin?" Hell Marshal and the others looked at him in confusion.

Reinhardt ignored their gazes and crouched before the stone marker. When he tried to pick it up, he realized only a portion of the plaque was exposed above ground.

The rest was buried deep beneath the black earth. The next second, he applied more force and pulled the entire thing out.

Soon, an enormous slab rose from beneath the earth.

"Hm?"

Reinhardt’s eyes focused on the writings on the slab. However, because most of it was violently scratched apart, its contents were hard to make out.

Deep claw marks could be seen carved on the slab. Someone had gone out of their way to ensure the information here could never be read again.

The demons really didn’t want the information here to leak out. ’But going out of their way to even damage a plaque, it’s like the demons really feared humanity recovering whatever knowledge had once existed here’.

Reinhardt was certain now, this place held something important. He was just lamenting, when, from the corner of his eyes, he spotted something.

Near the bottom corner of the slab, hidden beneath melted metal and layers of grime, a tiny section remained untouched.

Reinhardt brushed away the dirt and saw the words written there.

"Project Eden..."

There was another line written below the first.

"Final Stage Human Evolution Weapon Development Facility".

"Did you find anything?"

Vaerion and the others gathered around him.

Reinhardt was about to say something when his transmission device buzzed again.

"This is the leader of the First Division, Reinhardt".

The next second, a panicked voice came from the other side.

"What?!!"

Listening to the report, whether it be Reinhardt or those around him, all of them were astonished.

After relaying his orders, Reinhardt placed his attention on the two heroes of Aetherion.

"Did you say the labyrinth that killed Sir Caelum could appear and disappear anywhere?"

.

Deep within the depths of the Tainted Lands.

Astaroth sat upon his throne. One leg crossed over the other. His chin rested lazily against his hand.

Below the throne spread an endless ocean of black tar and above him, countless cocoons hung from the ceiling.

Each cocoon pulsed faintly like beating hearts. Faint movements could be seen within them.

Whatever was inside those cocoons, was stirring, and it wouldn’t be long before they were born.

Seeing this sight, Astaroth’s lips curved in a slight smile. Then soon, that smile disappeared, and a disdainful smirk replaced it.

"It appears Baccarat has failed."

There was no anger in his voice, only faint amusement.

He believed that his pet would be able to take out a knight division or at least cripple one.

After all, the plague carried by Baccarat was powerful enough to erase kingdoms.

However, from the intel he got, it appeared that the knights were mostly fine, suffering only slight injuries.

The plague was cleansed.

"I underestimated them." The Eighth Heavenly King slowly leaned back into his throne.

"Good, a powerful enemy is good. I have been itching for a good fight for a century. Now that I have got my true body back and no longer have to rely on avatars to barely stay alive, I can’t wait to tear you all apart. Come deeper into the Tainted Lands, I shall wait for you."

Right after saying that, the demonic grin on his face widened further.

"That is... if you can get past the problems your own kind created. Hehehehehe..."

.

.

Far away.

Within the territory captured by the Dawnbringers.

BOOOOM... A sonic explosion blasted through the skies.

Reinhardt streaked across the dark night. Three pairs of radiant wings spread behind him, leaving blazing trails of light. With every flap of his wings, the air distorted.

At this moment, Reinhardt had unleashed the full speed of his [Wings of Seraphim], his expression serious.

The scene from a few moments earlier flashed in his mind.

"Did you find anything?" Vaerion asked.

At that moment, Reinhardt was about to answer when his transmission device buzzed.

"This is First Division Leader Reinhardt. Report."

Just then, a panicked voice came through.

"Report! Numerous labyrinths are appearing everywhere. The First, Second, and Fourth Divisions have all encountered labyrinth emergence directly in front of their routes!"

"What?!"

Be it Reinhardt, the heroes around him, or the Extreme Knights of the Third Division, they were all surprised by the revelation.

It needs to be mentioned that Labyrinths were the ancient creations of the Arcanists.

Technology so advanced that it is impossible to recreate in the present day.

There are only a limited number of Labyrinths and Shelters all across the world. What’s more, a labyrinth that could appear and disappear was already unique and unheard of.

Now, more and more were appearing out of nowhere. How could one make sense of it?

This has to be a trap set by the demons.

Without hesitation, Reinhardt immediately began issuing orders.

"Relay my instructions to everyone. All divisions are to proceed with extreme caution. Do not recklessly enter an unknown labyrinth. Scout before advancing. It is highly likely this is a trap set by the demons."

His calm voice immediately caused the people on the other end to calm down as well.

"Prioritize survival over speed. If enemy activity is confirmed, immediately report it. I will personally provide backup."

Then, after leaving his instruction to the Third Division, Reinhardt activated his [Wings of Seraphim] and took to the skies.

.

Time passed by...

Golden streaks repeatedly tore across the skies of the Tainted Lands.

The sudden escalation of the situation had taken everyone by surprise. The emergence of not one but multiple Labyrinths at once was a cause of concern.

Multiple divisions had reported that there was more than one labyrinth appearing in their area.

The situation was so sudden that it left Reinhardt no time. Thankfully, these knights were the crème of the corps. They knew how to handle the situation well, and without acting recklessly, they proceeded with extreme caution.

Heroes personally led the exploration teams, and only after checking multiple times that there were no ambushes was the rest of the knights allowed to explore the labyrinth.

At first, Reinhardt personally flew throughout the frontlines, reinforcing every division one after another.

But after a while, something became apparent and he returned to the main camp where the First Division was.

As it turns out, all labyrinths were empty. There were no enemy, hidden ambushes or an army of chimeras like Vaerion described.

It was all empty, destroyed facilities long abandoned by time. As for anything meaningful, it had long been erased or looted by the demons.

Inside the command tent.

"This is Sixth Division reporting. The final labyrinth within our assigned region has been explored. No anomalies found".

"Understood." A knight noted down something and hung up the device.

"Good work, everyone. Take this time to rest," Reinhardt spoke.

All the knights and commanders around him relaxed slightly. After giving him a salute, they left the tent.

Having worked day and night for the past couple of days due to the disturbance, they had no time to even sleep.
