Supreme Lord: I can extract everything! Chapter 1118: Rise of a New Era X

Previously on Supreme Lord: I can extract everything!...
The Silverfang settlement braces for an overwhelming assault as monstrous crab and serpent hordes surge forward. Defenders rally under the command of a middle-aged leader, unleashing a barrage of ballista and energy-infused arrows that decimate thousands of adversaries, yet the enemy numbers remain daunting. In a bold move, the gates are thrown open, and thousands of Silverfang fighters charge out to confront the tide, only to find themselves engaged in fierce battles with monsters breaching their defenses. As despair looms, the Frostglider Eagles and Shadowbane Spiders soar into action, determined to protect their kin from the relentless enemy onslaught.

A barrage of lightning bolts was unleashed by the Goblin Shamans into the enemy ranks. Striking a target was effortless given the sheer density of the crowd. Although these electrical strikes lacked the lethality to finish the foes instantly, they dealt significant damage, and the paralyzing effect of the Goblin Shaman’s lightning was a force to be reckoned with.

The victims were immobilized for a brief second, providing the Silverfang Archers the window they needed to aim and fire. Arrows pierced the frozen targets, ending their lives on the spot.

The Shadowbane Spiders nearly fell victim to the stray lightning themselves, but they successfully merged into the surrounding shadows and shifted their focus toward the shoreline. While the proximity to the water increased the danger, the shadows cast by the emerging sea monsters allowed them to maneuver with total freedom.

These Shadowbane Spiders possessed sharp, incredibly sturdy legs which they used to impale the vital organs of the sea creatures fleeing the waves. Despite being smaller Lesser Lifeforms, they were equipped with venom sacs that produced a numbing toxin secreted through their limbs. Consequently, every puncture delivered by a Shadowbane Spider left the maritime beasts feeling increasingly sluggish.

A single strike wasn't enough to halt the monsters, but with tens of thousands of Shadowbane Spiders crawling across the gulf beach, landing dozens of hits on the larger beasts was simple. The creatures soon collapsed, only to be butchered or frozen solid by a Frostglider Eagle.

The freezing breath of the eagles was a genuine terror on the battlefield. It caused massive damage and was lethal to any creature lacking the physical strength to shatter the ice or the energy reserves to shield their bodies. Many of the maritime beasts were gargantuan and powerful, yet they lacked the refined energy control of more intelligent land-based monsters. From the perspective of the Silverfang Summons, they were little more than mindless brutes.

A four-armed mutant known as a Goblin Emperor wove through the fray, wielding a pair of war axes and two slender longswords. The swords carved elegant, mana-infused arcs through the air, while the heavy axes crashed down upon the massive beasts, cleaving through them as if they offered no resistance at all.

A swarm of venomous serpents attempted to strike the Goblin Emperor, but his skin was far too resilient to be pierced. He obliterated the horde in front of him, carving out a massive path for his subordinates to exploit. A Goblin Prince, followed by hundreds of Hobgoblin Champions, Hobgoblin Berserkers, and tens of thousands of Goblins, surged into the breach. They expanded the gap, creating the necessary room for the Goblin Shamans, Archers, and Goblin Elementalists to unleash total devastation.

Before long, nothing remained of the enemies in front of the Silverfang settlement but a carpet of corpses. The most powerful maritime entities tried to engage the Frostglider Eagles, the Shadowbane Queen Spider, and the Goblin Emperor, but their efforts were futile.

Dozens of Frostglider Eagles dived from the clouds, venting their rage upon the Lesser Lifeforms below. Their icy breath resembled the Arctic Breath of a Glacier Dragon; while smaller in scale and potency, it was an effective lesser imitation. It remained more than capable of wounding Lesser Lifeforms and encasing them in living tombs of ice.

While the Frostglider Eagles couldn't easily kill the most formidable High Beasts of the deep, their superior speed allowed them to dodge most retaliation. When two eagles were struck by hurled rocks, the Silvarean Tigers were positioned to intercept them before the enemy crabs could tear them apart. Leaping through the air, the tigers caught the falling eagles in their jaws and retreated to the safety of the settlement. After jumping onto the walls, they deposited the wounded birds to be treated by the Healers.

Returning to the fray, the Silvarean Tigers turned their attention to the stronger High Beasts. They began with calculated strikes, testing the regeneration and defenses of the sea monsters with claws and teeth. Once they gauged their opponents, they escalated their power, channeling energy into their fangs and claws to deliver lethal blows.

They tore through their targets, slaying the first High Beast before the Goblin Emperor or the Queen Spider had even finished their own battles. However, the Silvarean Tigers did not emerge unscathed. Injuries were sustained, and one tiger was lost. Hundreds of Goblins perished, and even the Shadowbane Spiders were reaching their limits. Each shadow-jump drained a massive amount of their power; four such movements were enough to leave them exhausted. While the maritime beasts were largely mindless, they could sense when their foes were flagging.

Their instincts were sharp enough to target these weakened enemies for the kill.

Then, the tide turned once more as the High Beasts of the ocean were systematically put down. The loose formation of the maritime monsters began to disintegrate. These High Beasts had been the ones driving the Lesser Lifeforms toward the Silverfang settlement under the commands of the Ocean Dragon.

With the death of their commanders, the mental shackles broke, and the maritime creatures regained their autonomy. They scrambled past the Silverfang warriors, desperate only to flee the looming wrath of the Ocean Dragon.

Simultaneously, movement occurred within the Silverfang borders. Reinforcements had arrived.

The Queen and her personal guard had come to provide aid.

They were, however, a moment too late.

Tiara and her unit finished off the remaining stragglers emerging from the surf. In a few minutes, they wiped out over a quarter of a million sea creatures, including several High Beasts, before fanning out to assess the damage to the territory, tend to the wounded, and search for... Caesus.

Caesus’s presence could not be felt, yet the agonized screams of the Ocean Dragon continued to echo across the fringes of the Azure Ocean.

As Tiara prepared to move, she was blocked by Caesus’s children. She glared at them, but the Goblins simply pointed toward the heavens. A streak like a falling star was descending.

It wasn't a star; it was Caesus!

He slammed violently into the sand at Tiara’s feet, spraying hot blood across the ground.

"Brother, are you alright?" Tiara cried out, sensing his faint and flickering life force.

He struggled to find his voice or stand, but his strength was entirely spent. Instead, he simply lay there, a foolish grin plastered on his face despite the visible spasms of pain.

"I did it," Caesus croaked, his form drenched in gore.

He had lost an arm, and the rest of his body was a mangled mess. His hair, garments, and skin had been scorched away. He only drew breath because the collective bestial regeneration of his children was being funneled into him through their soul connection.

"I protected our people," Caesus gasped between ragged breaths.

Tiara knelt beside him, a proud smile breaking through her worry.

"You did well. I’m so proud of you," she whispered, tears blurring her vision. "We’ll get you fixed up. Just rest now, okay?"

Caesus smiled back, though the memory of the clash with the Ocean Dragon sent a shiver through his broken frame.

He had forced the Ocean Dragon to retreat, but he was nearly dead himself.

Even so, a sense of triumph filled him. The Ocean Dragon was far more powerful—a being on the threshold of godhood.

And yet, he had held his ground. He had survived. He had won.

Caesus had stood as the shield for the Silverfangs.

He had safeguarded the New Era!
