What?
Ethan Barnes furrowed his handsome brows into a tight "川" shape. Indeed, he had used cunning and deceit to marry Celeste Linden.
He had never actually lost his memory.
Back then, Celeste didn’t want to marry him and was getting close to Daniel Langdon, which made him insanely jealous. He wanted her, he wanted Danielle; he wanted the mother and daughter too desperately.
So he took advantage of the chance with Carlotta, colluded with the old man, and had him tell Celeste that he had lost his memory. But he never expected the old man to say he was physically unfit.
Ethan Barnes was in his element when Carlotta stabbed him; he dodged the critical blow and wasn’t hurt at all. He was a man after all, and he wanted to live a shamelessly happy life with Celeste.
Now, recalling Celeste’s sympathetic gaze and her words of encouragement, "Keep it up," Ethan felt a biting irritation in his teeth.
The old man was sharp as a tack, looking at Ethan with a chuckle, "Seems like your progress has been quite smooth recently."
"Old man, how do you know?"
"You’ve reached the stage of determining whether you’re physically fit, isn’t that smooth progress?"
Thinking of the warm and joyful time lately, Ethan tucked his hands in his pockets and curled his thin lips.
"Alright," the old man walked over, patting Ethan’s shoulder, "You better work harder, hurry up and make me a little grandchild. If people say you can’t, then you can’t, right? Prove them wrong by showing you can!"
Ethan raised his eyebrows, "Do I even need you to say this?"
He turned and walked away.
...
In the living room, Celeste was unaware of these happenings; Danielle went out to play and happened to run into Nina.
Seeing Danielle, Nina shouted, "Wild child, why did you come here too?"
Nina didn’t like Danielle because Danielle’s wardrobe was filled with many beautiful princess dresses, many gorgeous dolls Nina had never seen, and lots of friends who liked her.
Like today, Danielle was wearing a pretty little dress, looking like a polished little princess, effortlessly outshining Nina’s fancy attire.
Nina was envious.
Danielle was about to play with a kite in her hand, but stopped when she heard "wild child" and righteously said, "I’m not a wild child, don’t call me a wild child, I have a dad and mom, and they’re both here today!"
"You are a wild child!" Saying that, Nina smugly made a silly face at Danielle.
Danielle got angry, and just then a tall and straight figure approached, extending a big hand and directly lifting Nina from behind.
Ah!
Nina screamed in fright, now her hands and feet were off the ground, she could possibly fall to her death.
Ethan Barnes arrived, lifting her with one hand.
"Uncle, please put me down quickly, I’m so scared!" Nina wailed.
Ethan stood tall with long legs, squinting his narrow eyes coldly at Nina, "Who’s calling Danielle a wild child, quickly apologize to my daughter and ask for her forgiveness. If she forgives you, I’ll let you down, otherwise... I’ll throw you out!"
Nina turned pale with fear of Ethan, looking at Danielle hurriedly saying, "Danielle, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault, you’re not a wild child, I won’t dare to call you that ever again."
With her dad’s support and protection, Danielle immediately smiled and generously said, "Alright then, I’ll forgive you this time."
