Ethan Barnes froze for a moment.

Carlotta was pretty surprised too. "Honey, Daniel’s girlfriend is Celeste? Don’t tell me Daniel doesn’t know about what happened between you and Celeste back then?"

In Carlotta’s eyes, someone like Daniel—born into a wealthy family and outstanding in his own right—shouldn’t be with a woman like Celeste. Celeste wasn’t good enough for Daniel.

As soon as she said that, Ethan’s gaze landed on Carlotta’s face. He lifted his thin lips slightly. "Isn’t Celeste my cousin? What kind of past could I possibly have with her?"

Carlotta ran straight into his gaze. His eyes were icy cold, staring at her without a trace of warmth, sending a chill down her spine.

Carlotta’s face went pale.

Just then Daniel walked over. "Ethan, Carlotta, you’re here. Come on, I’ll take you over."

Daniel formally introduced Celeste to the two of them. "This is my girlfriend, angel. You both know her."

Celeste was wearing a sleeveless tweed-style dress today, her temperament beautiful and gentle. Her clear, bright eyes looked at Ethan and Carlotta with poised ease. She curved her lips. "Hi."

The four of them sat down. Daniel called a waiter over to start ordering. "angel, what would you like to drink?"

Celeste said, "Anything’s fine."

"Let’s get a hot cappuccino. I remember it’s your period these couple of days, you shouldn’t drink anything cold." Daniel said tenderly and thoughtfully.

Celeste nodded. "Okay."

Watching Daniel treat Celeste so well, even remembering her cycle so clearly, Carlotta felt a little uncomfortable. After all, she’d been alone in an empty marriage bed for three years, and hadn’t felt an ounce of love from Ethan.

But now that Daniel and Celeste were a couple, Carlotta was secretly pleased too—at least she didn’t have to worry anymore about Celeste trying to steal her husband.

"angel, actually three years ago I already noticed Daniel liked you. Didn’t expect that three years later you two really ended up together." Carlotta said with a smile.

Daniel took Celeste’s small hand, sweet as could be. "I’ve been pursuing angel for these past three years. Heaven really does favor the persistent—I finally won the girl I like."

"Daniel, have you taken angel back to meet your parents yet?"

"Not yet for now, but there definitely won’t be any problem with my parents, because my mom especially loves the clothes angel designs."

So Daniel’s mom was also one of angel’s little fangirls. Getting past his parents wouldn’t be an issue.

Ethan didn’t say much. He glanced at Daniel and Celeste’s hands tightly clasped across from him, then looked away.

Ethan was washing his hands, his head still lowered. "You...really like her?"

"Of course. Ethan, I already told you three years ago—angel is different from other girls. She’s so unique. She’s beautiful and intelligent, and she’s full of strength. She’s like a little sun, and I’m deeply drawn to her." Daniel’s eyes were filled to the brim with love for Celeste.
