Outside, Celeste Linden froze for a moment, because she had recognized that voice.
Three years had passed, yet even as time flew by, when that voice rang in her ears, she immediately recognized it as Ethan Barnes’s voice!
Just then, the men’s restroom door swung open, and a handsome figure emerged.
Celeste raised her head to look, and Ethan Barnes had already appeared before her.
After three years of absence, he hadn’t changed much; that face remained handsome and arrogant. His sharpness hadn’t diminished since he’d risen in rank, and he seemed colder than before, making it hard for others to approach him easily.
Celeste wasn’t mentally prepared to encounter him, yet he appeared so unexpectedly, causing her steps to freeze.
Ethan put away his phone and looked up, at which point he also saw Celeste.
His narrow eyes slowly squinted slightly at her, then he turned and walked past her, brushing by as if she were a stranger.
Celeste wasn’t sure if he recognized her; his gaze was so indifferent, it was as if he were looking at a stranger.
Perhaps he had long moved on, long forgotten about her.
Thinking of her own unsettled feeling, Celeste smiled and lifted her feet to leave.
...
Celeste returned to the hall, where Danielle and Joy were playing, soaked with sweat. She quickly took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from both little sweethearts. "Danielle, Joy, you’ve played enough, shall we go home?"
"Okay, Mommy."
"Okay, Aunt Willow."
Morgan Ashworth went to settle the bill, and Celeste Linden and Willow Crawford took the two little ones toward the elevator. Willow asked, "Sister, why did you take so long in the restroom earlier?"
Celeste didn’t hide it; she whispered, "Willow, I just ran into someone, Ethan Barnes."
What?
Willow’s mouth fell open. "Did he say anything to you?"
Celeste shook her head. "No, he just glanced at me and then walked away."
His attitude actually made Celeste feel much more at ease; she wouldn’t fear running into him on the street in the future.
"Then does Danielle miss her dad?" Willow asked Celeste.
Celeste looked tenderly at her daughter. "Of course, she misses him; what child doesn’t miss their dad? If he wanted to see his daughter, I wouldn’t stop their meeting. But in the past three years, he’s never contacted us and doesn’t know I gave birth to a daughter. He has a wife; surely, I can’t go seeking him out, holding my daughter?"
Celeste helplessly smiled.
Willow nodded in agreement.
This Ethan Barnes truly is cold-hearted. When Celeste left, she was heavily pregnant, and that is his child, his only child. Yet he could just ignore them, an action not many could take.
At that moment, Morgan returned, pressed the elevator, "Let’s go inside."
"Okay."
The group entered the elevator, and the doors slowly closed.
Just then, a hand suddenly reached out, opening the elevator door. Ethan Barnes appeared outside.
Ethan saw Morgan Ashworth and smiled nonchalantly, "President Ashworth, what a coincidence."
Morgan furrowed his brows and then slightly moved his lips, "General Barnes, would you like to share the elevator?"
"Of course... I would."
Ethan stepped inside, standing tall and long-legged opposite Celeste.
Celeste held Danielle’s hand, trying to minimize her presence. Just then, Danielle’s childish voice sounded, "Mommy~"
