“Silence! Fetch the wedding dress immediately and do not displease our esteemed customers!” The male manager swiftly cut in, casting a stern glare at the female employee before approaching.

Upon facing Luo Tao and Mo Yan, the male manager’s demeanor shifted to one of fawning subservience. “My deepest apologies, sir, madam. This new employee is rather green and lacks proper etiquette. I shall address her behavior and have her apologize to you both shortly.”

Witnessing the manager’s dramatic change in attitude, Mo Yan felt a flicker of confusion but responded with displeasure, “There’s no need. We have no requirement for an apology from someone of her caliber.”

“Of course, of course. Ah, I have re-evaluated the bill. The previous 10,000 yuan assessment was incorrect. Since you have returned the wedding dress, no additional payment is necessary. I shall retrieve the gown for you right away. Please, allow us a moment.” The manager bowed subserviently.

As the manager assisted in retrieving the wedding dress, Mo Yan discreetly tugged on Luo Tao’s sleeve, whispering urgently, “Luo Tao, there’s no point in arguing with them. We simply cannot afford it. Let’s just let it go!”

That particular wedding dress carried a staggering price tag of 58,000 yuan. Even if they were to pretend to be wealthy, the reality was that such an expense was beyond their means!

Luo Tao observed her anxious expression, finding it somewhat amusing. A faint smile graced his lips as he gently patted her hand in reassurance, replying in a hushed tone, “It will be alright.”

Once the saleswoman and the manager presented the wedding dress, Luo Tao merely glanced at it and nodded, “Excellent. Now, proceed with taking my wife’s measurements.”

“Yes, yes, right away!” The male manager’s smile widened considerably. Noticing the saleswoman’s continued bewilderment, he quickly reprimanded her, “Hurry and take her measurements!”

“Understood, understood.” Chastised by the manager, the female employee stiffly produced a measuring tape and began to take Mo Yan’s measurements.

“Miss, is that how one typically takes measurements?” Luo Tao inquired with a cold curl of his lips.

The female employee faltered for a moment before continuing her task as before.

“Can you possibly take accurate measurements in such a manner?”

Luo Tao’s expression darkened. He fixed a cold gaze upon the female employee and stated in a ruthless tone, “And what about the hem of the skirt? You will need to kneel to measure that!”

Perceiving the shift in Luo Tao’s demeanor, the male manager grew visibly alarmed, breaking out in a cold sweat. He hurried to the employee’s side, whispering urgently, “This gentleman possesses a black card; you absolutely cannot afford to offend him!”

The female employee’s face contorted in displeasure. After receiving a pointed warning look from the manager, she grit her teeth and, with a deeply humiliated expression, slowly knelt. Unfurling the measuring tape, she proceeded to take Mo Yan’s measurements.

Watching the formerly haughty saleswoman now kneeling at her feet, Mo Yan pursed her lips and clutched Luo Tao’s hand tightly.

Following the completion of the measurements, the female employee seemed to deflate, standing meekly to the side with a dejected air, akin to a frightened bird.

The manager offered tea and chairs to the couple, but Luo Tao declined each offer. The more composed Luo Tao appeared, the more anxious the manager became.

Considering the implications of Luo Tao’s black card, the manager dared not speculate on the man’s true status. He worried that an unsatisfied Luo Tao might decide to destroy his entire establishment.

“You see…” the manager ventured again, keenly observing the couple’s expressions.

After receiving several subtle “we are not buying” signals from Mo Yan, Luo Tao raised an eyebrow and directed a pointed look at the saleswoman beside him. He then declared, “Your service standards are subpar. We shall not be purchasing this wedding dress.”

Mo Yan immediately felt a wave of relief wash over her. However, a new concern began to trouble her.

She worried that after publicly embarrassing the saleswoman, the manager might become angered by their decision not to buy.

Yet, upon hearing Luo Tao’s pronouncement, the manager only registered a moment of surprise before his smile remained unchanged. He continued to speak obsequiously, “It is entirely our fault. We apologize, we truly apologize.”

For as long as this black card-carrying customer refrained from causing further trouble, everything would remain manageable.

As Luo Tao and Mo Yan exited the wedding dress boutique, the manager’s warm farewells followed them, “Please take care!”

Once they reached the side of the street, Mo Yan stopped, biting her lip. She furrowed her brow and said, “Luo Tao, there’s something I need to discuss with you.”

Perceiving the determined glint in her eyes and her serious expression, Luo Tao halted and asked, “What is it?”

“I believe your reaction earlier was somewhat excessive.”

She attempted to convey her thoughts to Luo Tao with the utmost gentleness, “I understand that you wished to help me vent my frustration by offering to buy that wedding dress, but 50,000 yuan represents a significant amount that could sustain us for quite some time.”
