Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 831: The Overlord Has My Support

Cerci drew a breath, releasing it with deliberate calm, and Jason was taken aback to witness a faint smile grace Cerci’s features. Though he wouldn’t openly admit it, Cerci’s heart swelled with a profound sense of happiness in that moment. For his entire existence, Cerci, as the leader of Gaia, had shouldered the mission of safeguarding Earth from external threats, firmly believing humanity was unprepared for the perils awaiting them in the Primordial Expanse. However, he now recognized his lifelong worries were becoming obsolete. Jason’s ascension to leadership of this Primordial Domain would inevitably expose Earth in ways Gaia couldn’t possibly control. This meant the world would undoubtedly learn of alien existence. Simultaneously, Jason’s move to unite them all indicated he was already devising a strategy to prevent their world from falling behind against these other powers. A heavy burden lifted from Cerci’s shoulders as he finally relaxed, a feeling absent for nearly two decades!
With his smile unwavering, Cerci turned his gaze towards Jason and offered a respectful bow before speaking.
"On behalf of my organization and all its members, allow me to be the first to extend congratulations on your ascension, Overlord Jason. Rest assured, Gaia stands ready to provide any support you require."
"Wait, are you serious? You’re actually siding with him?"
One of the leaders, who had been observing the unfolding events in silence, voiced their disbelief from the rear of the assembly. Cerci calmly turned to face the gathered leaders.
"I realize many of you may be unaware, but this very outcome has been Gaia’s ultimate objective throughout our history. Our intention was never to conceal Earth indefinitely from the other worlds. It was merely a precautionary measure, born from our inability to defend ourselves. Now, with the protection of the Overlord himself, there is no longer a need for concealment. Gaia will cease all current operations and pledge our complete allegiance to the new Overlord of our domain. That is my definitive stance."
"You planned this all along, didn’t you?"
Cerci shifted his attention to the Prime Minister of Japan as her voice registered, observing her narrowed gaze as she continued.
"From the very beginning, you were anticipating an event like this. That’s why you never saw fit to restrain Jason Marc, despite placing restrictions on everyone else who posed a potential threat. You intended for Jason to become the overlord."
Cerci exhaled a measured breath, his eyes briefly flicking towards Jason on the stage. A subtle smile touched his lips once more as he responded.
"I will not claim to have orchestrated every single event that culminated in this present moment. However, I can confidently state that such a possibility was well within my calculated projections. Jason embodies both strength and integrity – qualities notoriously rare to find united in a single individual. I firmly believe that under Jason’s leadership, Earth possesses the potential to become the most formidable world within this Primordial Domain. We will no longer need to cower in the shadows like children evading adults. It is for this reason that I offer Jason my unwavering support."
Cerci’s declaration sent ripples of confusion through the room, leaving many leaders questioning the reality of the situation. There was no disputing Gaia’s status as one of the world’s preeminent organizations, if not *the* most powerful. Their technological prowess, mastery of magic, and sheer military might were capable of subjugating any single nation within days. Consequently, by aligning himself with Jason, Cerci was effectively declaring that any opposition to Jason would be met with hostility from Gaia. It is often said that people fear the known devil more than the unknown; the established reputation of Cerci’s power lent a chilling gravitas to the threat Jason now represented to them all.
From his vantage point on the stage, Jason observed Cerci’s actions with a thoughtful hum, a hint of amusement in his scoff. This turn of events was certainly unexpected, yet Jason couldn't deny finding it advantageous. He had initially anticipated Cerci would be his most formidable adversary, but this development signaled the toppling of his greatest potential obstacle. Jason’s voice resonated calmly, capturing the undivided attention of everyone present.
"So, this was your grand design all along, Cerci. I still find your demeanor… peculiar, but as long as our objectives align, I will gratefully accept your support. Thank you, Cerci."
Cerci inclined his head in acknowledgment of Jason’s statement before finally resuming his seat. Jason then proceeded.
"As I stated previously, my appointment as the Overlord of the Sixth Domain was solely based on my strength, not my origin world. In truth, Earth's inherent weakness almost cost me that position. The council members found it difficult to accept that such a fragile world could hold such a prestigious title. Frankly, I share their sentiment. Earth is pathetically weak, and this frailty stems from our own folly. You, the leaders of this planet, have been aware of other worlds for far longer than anyone else. You've encountered beings from other realms and heard tales of their advancements. Yet, instead of uniting Earth towards a common objective, you've persisted in your foolish conflicts and senseless divisions."
"Such talk is befitting a mere child."
Jason turned as a voice interrupted him. He saw the current president of Germany, a woman with a severe demeanor, long white hair, and piercing green eyes. She appeared to be in her early forties, possessing a beauty that defied her age, and was clad in a military uniform signifying her high rank. This woman, Agnes Müller, was Germany's most powerful superhuman and its current leader! Agnes directed a pointed gaze at Jason as all eyes shifted towards her and spoke.
"You claim our wars are futile and that we should have united for a shared purpose? Do you genuinely believe such naive notions are feasible? Our people are too disparate. Earth is too vast and diverse. We cannot possibly unite as a single entity. The deep-seated hatred, endless wars, and bloodshed have permeated this world too profoundly. Only an imbecile would imagine that millennia of history could be discarded so easily."
A quiet murmur of agreement rippled through the other leaders in the room, the logic in Agnes's words resonating with them. It was undeniable that their nations were embroiled in conflict due to their inherent differences. One could hardly expect the Koreas to forget their history of war and cooperate, just as Russia and America could not simply overlook their longstanding disparities! Even if the leaders themselves resolved to work toward a singular goal, profound resentment lingered among the populace, making any prospect of reconciliation impossible!
