Jason observed the two women exchanging pleasantries with a smile, then turned his attention to the two guards standing at a discreet distance. Talum and Gruwen visibly tensed as Jason's gaze fell upon them. He approached them with a calm demeanor, hands tucked into his pockets.

"King Slayer. It is indeed an honor to stand before you once more," Talum stammered, his voice tight with respect.

"An honor it is," Gruwen added, echoing his sentiment.

Both soldiers executed a deep bow as they greeted Jason. He rested a hand on his chin, a thoughtful hum escaping him as he surveyed them. The longer Jason's scrutiny lingered, the more palpable their fear became. Just as the soldiers were about to inquire if they had committed some offense, their faces flushing under his piercing gaze, Jason suddenly brought his fist into his open palm. A look of sudden understanding dawned on his face as he exclaimed,

"Ah, I see what has changed. You two are in a relationship, aren't you?"

Both soldiers' faces turned crimson at his words. Gruwen immediately averted her gaze, an intense wave of embarrassment washing over her. Talum, stammering, confirmed their relationship. "I am genuinely happy for you both. I am certain you will make a wonderful couple. However, I trust you will not forget my earlier warning. Should I detect even the slightest hint of betrayal towards Riyala, it will be your undoing."

Talum and Gruwen had been smiling moments before, but their faces turned ashen as Jason's aura abruptly shifted into a threatening one. They swallowed hard, nodding quickly and earnestly promising they would never betray the priestess. Jason hummed, his gaze fixed on them for a few more seconds before he finally nodded and turned away, hearing Riyala call his name.

Riyala and Gina were now holding hands, beaming with joy. Jason grinned and strode over, scooping them both into a powerful bear hug. He kissed Gina, then turned to kiss Riyala as well. "Are you two finished with your chat?" he inquired.

Riyala nodded eagerly. "Gina was telling me about some of the worlds you visited together! It sounds incredible! I want to hear all about the rest!"

Jason let out a hearty laugh and set his girls down. "We can talk about it after the trial is done," he said. The mention of the trial was enough to sober both of them up. Gina let out a tired sigh, her attempt to hide her irritation failing. She couldn't wait for this ordeal to end so they could return home. While Gina cherished her time with Jason, she couldn't deny her longing for her parents and Mira. In truth, she even missed that tiny terror, Maya! Gina yearned to see how everyone was faring and to share the news of Jason's proposal. Noticing her frustration, Jason gently petted Gina's head and turned to Riyala as she spoke up.

"Oh, that's right. I encountered someone on my way down here. Do you know Queen Hesabeth, the Prideful Queen? We met in the hallway, and after she learned who I was, she had the strangest reaction. She actually smiled at me and declared we were family. Whatever happened between you two?"

Riyala's eyes sparkled as she suddenly recalled their intended purpose, her cheeks flushing slightly before she nodded in agreement!

Jason once again took Gina's hand as they resumed their walk, and Riyala, with a broad smile, moved to link her arm through Jason's other one. The two escorts then joined Stella, following closely behind the trio of lovers as they collectively proceeded towards the Hall of Fallen Heroes.
