Jason granted Lamina continued leadership of Nox and her council seat, freeing her from direct oversight while affirming his watchful authority, which deepened her loyalty. He then arranged with T’arigan and Farlow to visit the Stone Catacombs the next day before returning to Earth. Meanwhile, Hesabeth led Gina to a distant bedroom in the palace, beyond Jason’s acute hearing, to hold a private conversation she had urgently requested.

"It was necessary to come all the way to the other end of the castle to ensure he couldn’t listen in on our conversation."

Gina nodded with a hum of comprehension, though she realized Jason’s followers could still pick up their words from afar, making the precaution useless. Jason simply wasn’t the type to eavesdrop on private talks without cause. She clasped her hands together and awaited Hesabeth’s next words. Honestly, Gina remained puzzled about her presence here. She was aware of Hesabeth’s interest in Jason, hinting this discussion might revolve around him, yet Hesabeth ranked among the Primordial Expanse’s most capricious figures, leaving Gina unable to predict her actions with certainty! Gina observed Hesabeth draw a deep breath and exhale a sigh before she finally began speaking.

"I want you to know that I reduced the influence of my Bias as much as magically and physically possible for this conversation, so you do not need to worry about your decisions being influenced by outside forces. Well then, now that we have that out of the way, I suppose it’s best we simply get to the crux of the matter. I have fallen in love with Jason, and I would like you to allow me to be with him. That is all."

Gina blinked in astonishment, rendered speechless for a prolonged instant! Never had she imagined Hesabeth would declare her desires so directly! Hesabeth gazed straight at Gina, her face devoid of shame or unease, hands folded gracefully in her lap like a monarch speaking to a subordinate! In all honesty, Gina shouldn’t have been taken aback! Hesabeth wasn’t one to shy away from her wants, and Gina had suspected her attraction to Jason! Yet the real shock lay in Hesabeth seeking Gina’s approval! Hesabeth never asked permission for anything, and Gina suddenly understood: Hesabeth had exhausted every seduction tactic on Jason, all in vain!

’Jason refused all her advances, and now the only option she has is to come through me.’

A surge of superiority welled up in Gina’s heart at the thought, a broad grin spreading across her features as she looked down at Hesabeth! She knew Jason could claim Hesabeth as a wife without consulting her, and Gina would embrace it out of her deep love for him, but his regard for her sentiments—forcing Hesabeth to approach her thus—deepened Gina’s affection even further! Gina inhaled deeply, gathered her thoughts, and posed a single straightforward question.

"Why should I?"

The query was straightforward, yet Gina noticed Hesabeth’s composure flicker subtly upon hearing it. Hesabeth blinked in mild surprise, glanced aside momentarily, her grip on the fan tightening briefly before relaxing. Challenges like this were foreign to her. Life’s desires had always been hers on a silver platter, until Jason complicated everything! Hesabeth replied steadily.

"Did you not hear my reasoning? It is because I love him that I wish to be with him—"

"That is not enough."

Gina abruptly interrupted Hesabeth mid-sentence, prompting a startled glance upward as Gina advanced, locking eyes with fierce determination. Suddenly, Hesabeth no longer resembled a queen to her subject. Instead, she felt like cornered prey under a hunter’s glare. Her Bias stirred instinctively, but she suppressed it, recognizing Gina posed no danger. Clarity of mind was essential for this exchange!

Gina pressed on:

"Anyone can love Jason. You aren’t the first person, and you sure as hell won’t be the last to tell me that. If saying you love him was enough reason for me to accept you, then Jason would have hundreds of wives already. So you need to tell me why you think I should share ’my’ future husband with you and accept you into the Marc family. Within the walls of this room, you are a woman, not a Queen who demands absolute obedience. So if you cannot let go of that ego of yours and speak to me like a woman, then we are done here."

Hesabeth's eyes widened in shock as she gazed up at Gina. Truth be told, Hesabeth hadn't grasped it initially. Why did Jason adore this woman so deeply? What did Jason perceive in Gina that enabled him to dismiss all of Hesabeth's advances so completely? Hesabeth was aware she outshone Gina in regality! As a Queen, she represented the most beautiful and supreme being across the world! No other woman ought to compete for equal footing in a man's heart! Yet somehow, Jason regarded Gina as superior to Hesabeth in his world! This enigma had tormented Hesabeth for days, leaving her baffled by Jason's profound love for this woman! But at this instant, Hesabeth finally comprehended.

The overwhelming aura and self-assurance radiating from Gina in that moment sufficed to stir a hint of insecurity even in Hesabeth! Though Hesabeth's Bias granted her greater strength, Gina remained a TITAN rank powerhouse, undeniably wielding the presence to match her might! It seemed as if Gina loomed like an executioner with a sword poised overhead, ready to sever Hesabeth's head should she fail to respond correctly now! Never before had Hesabeth found herself speechless, yet she averted her gaze, frowning down at the bed. Observing this, Gina shook her head and pivoted to exit the chamber.

"I suppose that's the limit of your affection. I'll forget we ever had this conversation."

"Wait. Gina..."

Gina whirled back upon hearing Hesabeth's voice, discovering her now standing tall. The fan set aside, the two women confronted each other as peers. A trace of unease twisted Hesabeth's features as she locked eyes with Gina, who offered her undivided focus while Hesabeth at last voiced her thoughts.

"I know... I know I'm asking for something selfish. Uhm... I... I'm not accustomed to requesting things. Everything has always been bestowed upon me throughout my life. I've never labored for anything, forever the most cherished wherever I appeared. That's the existence I've known, and I find no fault in it. Yet this marks the first occasion I've yearned to strive for something truly. You might not grasp its significance to me, having not endured my path. But a life of silver spoons and golden platters... it's isolating. Adoration has always surrounded me, yet I recognized it stemmed from my Bias. The suitors and their romantic pursuits—all corrupted by my Bias. My friendships, tainted by my Bias. Even my parents' deeds, influenced by my Bias."
