Jason argued with T’arigan about council restrictions blocking his return to Earth, requiring a meeting at the neutral Stone Catacombs to resolve the issue. T’arigan explained Lamina's resignation from the council stemmed from her blood oath loyalty to Jason, disrupting key economic plans. Irritated by the added complications, Jason mentally commanded Lamina to stay on the council, overriding her attempts to yield the seat to him.

Jason sensed Lamina trembling almost palpably across their mental connection, exhaling a steady breath before speaking.

'You will stay on the council and keep performing your duties exactly as before, awaiting further orders from me. Moreover, I won't seize the throne of Nox from you. My other obligations lie in my own world, and that's where I'll stay. You shall continue leading Nox while holding the eighth council seat. Execute your responsibilities with Nox and your domain's best interests in mind, and I bestow upon you the power needed to control the other Vympirs. At the next council gathering, I'll announce that I've freed you from my direct command, allowing you to handle your tasks without my meddling—though I'll keep an eye on you, Lamina. Don't let me down.'

Shock overwhelmed Lamina at these words! Having become a Vympir, she truly believed Jason would rush to claim Nox straight away! Yet, this was the inaugural time she'd encountered a Dead Apostle uninterested in domination! As Gillian's heir, Jason had gained far more than the mere ruler's title! Vast territories, grand castles, riches, and heaps of gold had passed to him too, usable solely on Nox! By handing her dominion over this realm, Jason essentially declared no desire for any of it! Still, his willingness to entrust her with such immense duty sparked a wave of joy from deep within Lamina's soul! She had feared the new Dead Apostle would strip her of everything, demoting her to a mere servant over her past mistreatment of him! Instead, Jason not only preserved her throne but also restored her freedom to proceed as always! Realizing her error in judging Jason, Lamina couldn't prevent a faint smile from gracing her lips as she nodded.

[I am honored by your trust in me. I will not fail you, my Lord.]

Through their empathetic bond, Jason perceived Lamina's elation, knowing this single move had deepened her loyalty immensely! This was precisely what Lamina had craved all along! Though she yearned for Gillian's Blood Oath, her true aim was retaining leadership of Nox! Thus, Jason's immediate grant of authority over Nox stood as the ultimate boon she could receive! He severed the link with Lamina, and though unseen, he felt her ecstatic leaps around her office, as if she'd struck a massive jackpot!

Amused, Jason scoffed and dismissed it all, finally pivoting back toward T’arigan. Both Farlow and T’arigan had observed him intently, sensing his ongoing exchange with another. Seeing Jason conclude, Farlow inquired about the matter, but Jason merely shook his head, brushing it off as trivial.

"I was merely resolving a matter with some subordinates. Regarding the Stone Catacombs visit—could we schedule it for tomorrow? I must return to Earth promptly, avoiding any council troubles upon my arrival."

Addressing T’arigan directly, Jason prompted them to resume discussing his Black Enigma Status. He withheld details of his talk with Lamina from Farlow and T’arigan, lest the council suspect he reinstated her in the eighth seat merely to manipulate her as a tool! True as it was, he preferred they remain unaware! Upon Lamina's council return, Jason might claim the sixth seat as his domain's mightiest! His status as Lamina's Dead Apostle thus extended influence over the Eighth Domain too. Hesbaeth's backing was assured after their recent closeness, and Farlow's support was certain thanks to Gina saving his wife. Hence, Jason's council proposals would likely pass effortlessly!

Such leverage proved invaluable, and Jason fumed that Lamina nearly wrecked this ideal setup by acting unilaterally on so grave a choice! Blind loyalty had spurred her foolish move, ignoring future ramifications.

'Should she repeat this blunder, I'll seek a council replacement. She's my strongest White Sun vampire, but alternatives exist to fill her role. Time will tell.'

[Eastern wing of the Royal Palace]

[With Gina and Hesabeth]

Calmly trailing the fierce Queen Hesabeth, Gina navigated the corridors of the Royal Castle. Nearly ten minutes into their stroll, Gina still had zero clue about their destination. Guards and maids, who typically paused to grin or wave at Gina, now displayed utterly stern faces, offering profound bows to Hesabeth, whom she disregarded completely while forging ahead, ultimately guiding Gina to a chamber at the castle's far end. Minori sentries stood vigil before the bedroom door, parting it open to permit Hesabeth's entry. Hesitation marked Gina's expression as she lingered at the doorway. An odd sensation churned within Gina's heart while observing Hesabeth's poised advance into the room; for an instant, the urge to flee gripped her, yet Hesabeth whirled back, snapping her fan shut prior to uttering a word.

"Well? Aren’t you coming inside?"

Drawing a steady breath at last, Gina stepped through the threshold. Memories of Hesabeth's desperate plea for this discussion convinced her to stay and listen. Luxurious couches and opulent rugs suitable for kings adorned the lavish bedroom. A grand king-sized bed, plush and inviting, occupied the space, and Hesabeth settled gracefully upon its rim. Gina lifted an eyebrow, her voice laced with dryness.

"I hope you aren’t trying to take me to bed. I’m a taken woman, and I don’t really swing that way either."

With a casual shrug, Gina voiced this, though her thoughts drifted to the occasion she had invited Riyala into bed alongside her and Jason, realizing she held no aversion to sharing intimacy with women—so long as Jason joined them too.

Confusion twisted Hesabeth's features upon catching Gina's words, needing moments to decipher the human idiom. Comprehension hit, deepening her scowl, and she retorted with vexed sharpness!

"Don’t be so crass. Do you think I’m some deviant who would be interested in such a thing? Sigh~ honestly, why must my exalted self endure such indignity? Anyway, let's cut to the chase. I led you here because we're beyond Jason’s earshot. His overwhelming might makes him acutely attuned to noises, demanding we trek to this remote corner of the castle to guarantee our talk stays private."
