Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 760: The Runaway King

Jason observed Gina and Camille for several more seconds before his tone grew grave as he spoke.
"How are things with the council?"
The instant Jason raised this query, Farlow's expression darkened, and the tranquil vibe surrounding Farlow began to fade away! The two men continued eyeing their companions chatting with composed expressions, yet their words carried a fierce urgency that underscored the dire circumstances.
Farlow responded:
"Honestly, things aren’t looking good. I haven’t been to any council meeting since the Machina massacre because I didn’t want them to use Gina and me as leverage to try and find you, but from what I’ve heard from a friend of mine, it appears the council is split down the middle. Some of them are interested in looking over this entire situation since we also made the mistake of trusting the Rubik impersonator, but there are others who won’t let go of your crimes. They want to see you in prison, or at the very least, they want you to be fined for what you did. Hesbeath is also facing some backlash for losing control of her Bias, but the council already knows we can’t do too much to her, so they’re more likely to lean towards using you as the scapegoat for both incidents."
Irritation flared as Jason clicked his tongue upon hearing this. He had foreseen heavy criticism from the council over the events, along with possible fines, but truthfully, he refused to accept any penalty. Why should he take blame when the council failed to detect an impersonator lurking right in their midst for so long!? Had they performed their duties properly, none of this mess would have occurred! Though he could easily cover any fine with his wealth surpassing many small worlds, bending over backward to pay for something not fully his fault grated on him!
"Who’s spearheading the campaign against me? Is it Val’kat?"
With a faint scowl creasing his brow, Jason voiced the question, his thoughts racing back to the Stone Catacombs trial from months earlier and those who had opposed him. Val’kat, the goblin leader, had been outspoken in his disdain for Jason, as had Rak’hael, the Angels' queen. It wouldn't shock him if either was driving the push against him. Farlow hesitated briefly, weighing his words. Council sessions were strictly confidential, and leaking details to outsiders was taboo, yet glancing at his wife’s radiant smile as she chatted joyfully with Gina on the bed, he cast aside rules and obligations. He owed these people immensely, and repaying that debt this way felt right! Whatever fallout came later, he'd handle it!
"Do you know Rak’hael? The Angel Queen of Eden?"
Jason's gaze sharpened at the mention of that name, instantly pulling his mind to the council gathering at the Hall of Fallen Heroes. There, Rak’hael had voted against him in the trial and backed Rubik. Prior to that, he'd had no dealings with the Angel Queen, but her stance had instantly soured his view of her. Then his thoughts shifted to the latest message from his father in the [Book of The Apocalypse], prompting a thoughtful hum. His father had urged approaching Rak’hael to uncover how the Period of Lawlessness ended, warning she’d prove tricky. Yet with her now pushing for his punishment, cooperation seemed far beyond merely 'difficult.' Clearly, she harbored some grudge against him.
"Rak’hael isn’t some villain, if that’s what you’re thinking. Tough she may be, but she never champions a cause without solid justification. To her, your deeds on Machina plus the ruin of countless worlds demand serious attention—too grave to ignore. Honestly, if I didn’t know you half as well, I’d stand with her too. No prison sentence from me, but I’d absolutely insist on reparations for Machina’s destruction. Rak’hael’s real issue? She’s way stricter than I’ll ever be. A recent addition to the council, she seized control of her world after her father vanished battling a Primordial. Young by Primordial standards, most council members dismiss her as immature, yet her second seat grants undeniable authority we can’t brush aside. If she keeps demanding your punishment, it could very well come to pass."
Jason hummed thoughtfully while taking in Farlow’s every word. In reality, he already harbored dislike for Rak’hael. Though the other councilors figured her call for his punishment came purely from a sense of justice, Jason sensed deeper reasons at play. Richard’s letter had revealed one vital fact about Rak’hael, forever altering how Jason viewed all future encounters with her! Farlow glanced at him in mild shock when Jason voiced his next query.
"What was the relationship between Rak’hael and my father?"
Farlow was floored that Jason would pose such a question, unable to stop pondering how Jason even knew of any link between Rak’hael and Richard! This dated back centuries, ages before Richard reached Earth and fathered Jason, so someone else must have spilled the details!
’Did Richard share his old flings with Jason? No way—he wouldn’t. I’ve hounded him forever about skipping that day, but he stayed mum. Still, it’s Richard; you never quite grasp the schemes in that mind of his.’
A chance existed that Richard had once name-dropped Rak’hael to Jason, prompting Farlow to probe the boy’s intel sources later. Jason shot Farlow a pointed glance, and with a steady sigh, Farlow finally addressed the question.
"Their relationship is nothing for you to fret over. Brief it was, and honestly, no romance involved. Rak’hael was Eden’s first princess upon meeting Richard, back when Eden and Avaran sought an alliance. Already close friends before the idea surfaced, the elders from both worlds, spotting this, proposed Richard wed Rak’hael to seal the pact. Destined as the ideal match, a swift ceremony to vastly empower both realms. Yet inexplicably, Richard failed to appear on the wedding day."
