Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 744: The Battle Maniac

As Mik’hael finally departed alongside Jaeral, the two youngsters remained rooted in place, their expressions frozen in sheer astonishment. Moments later, the boy pivoted toward the girl and voiced a ridiculous query.
"Was that Angel Mik’hael?"
The girl nodded in stunned agreement, while the boy gulped hard! Tales of the quirky angel and his battlefield exploits had reached both children’s ears before, yet they never imagined he’d approach them for a chat like this! As first-year students, they weren’t due to pick a department for another year at least. However, after such an encounter, no further info on departments was needed—they already knew precisely which ones they’d choose!
Meanwhile, Angel Mik’hael strode down the corridor again, whistling a cheerful melody, with Jaeral trailing silently beside him, opting not to question the odd side trip. She’d grown accustomed to her master’s peculiar ways, understanding that nothing could alter him—he was just built that way! Though Mik’hael’s motives appeared genuine, only a handful in the Primordial Expanse grasped the reality behind his odd behavior.
"Ah, I hope they grow mighty someday. I’d love to clash with them!"
There it was—the real essence of the benevolent figure known as Angel Mik’hael! Contrary to popular belief, he didn’t meddle in young mages’ lives purely to aid them! Indeed, he aimed to boost their strength, but the core motive was his obsession as a battle maniac craving duels with top-tier foes! Mik’hael had been among the most ferocious mages in the Period of Lawlessness, a beast so terrifying that his name alone sparked paralyzing fear among Eden’s adversaries! He’d single-handedly eradicated whole demon races to extinction, and after endless warfare, he earned the [Demon Slayer] title for purging those vile beings. Yet with that honor came an unprecedented thirst for combat, leading him to hunt powerful rivals even post-Lawlessness!
Naturally, this sparked endless trouble for the Angels, forcing Rak’hael to repeatedly caution Mik’hael about curbing his war hunger! The admonitions curbed it somewhat, but reining in someone like Mik’hael from his true desires proved utterly futile!
‘Without that raging battlelust, he’d have been ideal to claim the Overlord mantle of the Second Domain over his sister. But Mik’hael can’t helm this domain. Hand him power, and he’ll drag us into fresh war.’
Jaeral sighed once more at the notion. Every Angel in Eden recognized Mik’hael as the mightiest among them. No Primordial escaped dread at his name, and he’d once solo-defended Eden against a Primordial invader! Yet beyond battle, Mik’hael floundered terribly, so they entrusted Rak’hael with domain rule—she matched his power while possessing the traits fit for the Council of Nine and One!
After several more minutes of walking, Mik’hael reached a grand door at the hallway’s end and flung it wide with a beaming grin!
"SISTER! I’M BACK!!!"
"MIK’HAEL, YOU IDIOT!"
Woosh!
Slam!
"OUCH!"
A gigantic tome hurtled through the air, smashing into Mik’hael’s skull and hurling him to the floor amid a yelp of agony! Jaeral stepped in after her master, offering Rak’hael a respectful bow and greeting. Across the chamber, Rak’hael stood arms crossed, face twisted in fury as she glowered at her foolish sibling, patiently awaiting his recovery! Mik’hael hefted the colossal volume nearly matching his size, pondering what on earth demanded such a massive tome! Rising, he confronted his fuming sister with a bashful grin.
"Hey sis. You’re as radiant as ever."
Rak’hael’s eyebrow jerked, and she snatched a parchment from the desk behind, reading aloud from it.
"...we regret to inform you that we lost sight of Lord Mik’hael sometime during our expedition, and by the time we found him, he had already killed all fifteen hundred Devil worshippers from the coven we had been monitoring! Our mission will have to be put on hold until we can identify more Devil Worshippers to monitor! Mik’hael, I sent you out there to check on the mages stationed at the Devil worshipper coven! Why the hell did you kill fifteen hundred people!?"
Mik’hael rubbed his neck with a wince, offering a straightforward reply.
"They were Devil worshippers. Do I need any other reason to kill them?"
Rak’hael sighed deeply, dragging a hand over her face before shaking her head! That coven had been under surveillance for over a year, as they traced the source of kidnapped test subjects to dismantle both the abductions and the group simultaneously! Mik’hael’s rampage had delayed them by months!
"Did you even read the report I gave to you? I told you we were trying to complete this mission all at once. I don’t even know why I bother. Of course, you didn’t read anything I gave you! Sigh~ You need to learn how to control yourself, Mik’hael. This isn’t the Period of Lawlessness anymore! Killing people just because of who they worship is a crime! If those Devil worshippers weren’t also sacrificial cultists, then I would’ve been forced to arrest you!"
Rak’hael glanced up wearily while murmuring the final bit, and Mik’hael mustered a sheepish smile, though she knew resistance was pointless. Mik’hael was wired this way, unchangeable even if desired! Only their father had tamed him before vanishing long ago, leaving no one to check him now. Still, Rak’hael admitted the blunder wasn’t dire! Those slain Devil worshippers proved fiercely potent, and sending mages against them would’ve meant total annihilation. Thus, Mik’hael had unwittingly rescued them by soloing the threat. Rak’hael sighed again, prompting Mik’hael to hum inquisitively at her weary features. He gestured for Jaeral to exit, and after her bow and departure with the door shut, he queried with an arched brow.
"What’s bothering you, sister? You look exhausted."
"Huh? Do I really look that tired? If even you’re noticing it, then it must be really obvious."
"You’re my sister. Of course, I’ll notice when you’re tired. Tell me what’s wrong."
Rak’hael gave a light shrug, furrowing her brow briefly to sort her ideas. After moments to frame it right, she launched into recounting all that had transpired with Jason over recent months.
