Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 1087: Face-to-Face with Death

At this point, all they had were Jason’s word and the belief of some of the other members of the council that the plan would work, so there was a real chance that Jason and Agiel wouldn’t be able to stop this beast and they would all die here!

There was no way Kalum wouldn’t be feeling very stressed about this mission!

Kalum spoke up to his secretary.

"How are the evacuation plans in the parallel worlds progressing? Are there still any stragglers?"

Kalum frowned as he said this, and the secretary immediately knew that he was just trying to change the topic to take his mind off the current mission, and she was grateful for the new topic! The secretary nodded as she brought up a file and read from it.

"Five hundred and fifteen worlds along the path of the Celestial of Death have been fully evacuated, and three thousand and ten have only been partially evacuated. The three thousand partially evacuated worlds prioritized the evacuation of the most important races first before taking other races into account. Currently, the death toll stands at just below five hundred billion with about five hundred worlds completely eradicated, and unless the celestial is stopped here, we estimate the death toll across the domain would be just above three trillion."

Kalum put a hand over his face and let out a long sigh when he heard those numbers! Three trillion might sound like a lot, but compared to how many people and races would’ve died if they didn’t carry out the evacuations, it was a very small amount! The ninth domain was home to tens of thousands of worlds that were each filled with billions of people, so on a grander scale, Kalum had actually done an extraordinary job in making sure that this domain wasn’t significantly affected by the Celestial’s appearance!

If Kalum hadn’t worked so fast, then trillions would’ve already died! Kalum was about to say something else to his secretary, but a sudden voice spoke up from behind the secretary.

"That’s a lot of people."

"Kya!"

The secretary nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard the rough voice, and she turned around sharply to see Jason and Agiel rising from the shadows! Kalum immediately stood with a wide smile on his face, and he quickly greeted them kindly!

"Overlord Jason, Princess Agiel. I’m glad you’ve arrived."

Jason nodded to Kalum, and Agiel didn’t bother responding as she just held Jason’s arm tighter while looking around. Jason spoke up:

"Let’s get started."

There was no time to waste at all, and Kalum nodded seriously before he turned to the secretary, who still looked like her heart had almost burst out of her chest!

"Go and tell the soldiers to prepare for approach. We’re moving out in the next few minutes."

The secretary quickly got herself under control once she saw the serious expression on Kalum’s face, and she accepted the order before finally leaving the office. Once she was gone, Kalum invited Jason and Agiel towards the long table in the middle of the room! There was a long map on the table that showed the arrangement of hundreds of thousands of worlds in the shape of connected circles. There was a large black cloud drawn over the left side of the map, and Jason noticed that the cloud in the picture was actually moving.

Kalum quickly explained.

"This is a map of my domain and all the worlds in it. We were able to render a perfect representation of the Celestial of Death and its current travel path using data from the destroyed worlds. These worlds in red here are the worlds that had already been visited by the Celestial of Death. All the inhabitants of those worlds are dead. These ones in green signify the path the Celestial will take as it leaves the ninth domain and enters the eighth domain. We are here, in the same world as the Celestial of Death. We need to stop it here before it goes into any parallel worlds. I don’t want to doubt what I’ve heard from you, but are you certain you can handle it?"

Kalum said that last part while looking up at Jason with a serious gaze. Although Kalum had already decided to place his bets on Jason, there was still a little bit of doubt in Kalum’s mind since this was something he had never seen happening before. There were a few soldiers that Kalum would send with Jason and Agiel as a sign of trust, but Kalum needed to be sure that he wasn’t placing his faith in something that was not certain!

Agiel was the one who spoke up.

"If you don’t believe in us, you can take your men and escape to another world. We won’t hold it against you."

Kalum blinked in surprise, and when he looked towards Jason and saw Jason nod as well, Kalum let out a long breath as he decided that this was enough of a confirmation. The fact that Jason and Agiel were willing to take on the Celestial of Death with or without any help was enough proof that they were certain of their ability to stop it!

"Alright then. I’ll place all my faith in you two. If you accomplish this, we will be in your debt for life. I pray for your success."

Kalum placed his fist over his chest and gave an official salute of respect to Jason and Agiel. The two of them were going to be walking straight towards death to try and preserve the lives of people from a domain that they do not even know, and Kalum held the highest form of respect for such a selfless action! Jason nodded to Kalum and spoke calmly.

"You don’t need to worry. We’ll make sure to take care of it. Let’s go."

Jason began heading towards the door, with Agiel immediately walking beside him, and Kalum looked down at the moving map on his table one last time before he steeled his resolve and finally followed after them!

The group of three made their way out of the castle, and they saw a delegation of soldiers already waiting for them. There was a carriage that they planned to use to head towards the Celestial’s location, but Jason refused to use the carriage, and he just told all of them to follow behind since he was going to be using the shadows instead.

Everyone easily accepted Jason’s order, and they quickly prepared everything before taking off towards the location of the Celestial of Death.

The Celestial was currently moving over a large valley on the eastern part of Voltax. There was a town called Tola close by that had been evacuated recently, and there were only a few animals that couldn’t be taken along, roaming across the town! As Jason moved through Tola, he noticed some people in ragged and dirty clothes running to take the animals away and quickly hiding in empty buildings again. These people were either former criminals or beggars who couldn’t go along with the other members of the town, so they had been left here to die.

And since these beggars didn’t know what was coming for them, they were simply taking animals and cooking them to try and survive.

Jason ignored them and kept moving past the town and out into a wide grassland region. Jason appeared on the top of a hill that overlooked a beautiful horizon, and he finally rose from the shadows with Agiel and gazed out into the distance to get his first look at the Celestial of Death.

It was a storm cloud of absolute darkness stretching out over the horizon like paint on a canvas. Jason had been watching the Celestial all this while through the [Eye of the King], and an image had already been painted in his mind of what the disaster was supposed to look like, but seeing it up close like this completely destroyed all the expectations in Jason’s head!
