The entire city lit up in pure white light as lightning sparked across the air and began to form a massive ball in the sky! Agiel gazed up at the attack in awe, and for the first time since the battle began, Agiel felt fear enter her heart! But Agiel immediately buried that feeling as she got up to her feet and stood her ground! Agiel’s lips split into a grin once again as her hands glowed with magic, and Jason gained a look of pride when he saw this! It was obvious that Agiel was not going ot beack down, and the look she was giving him was practically a challenge! Agiel was daring Jason to give her everything he had!

’I hope you’re satisfied, Agiel.’

Jason had this thought before he put his hand forward and unleashed the skill on Agiel!

PHWOOM!

The lightning ball immediately shot towards Agiel like a comet, and Agiel put her hands together and sent all her magic out in the frequency of lightning!

[Rupture]!

Agiel’s ability sparked to life as it tore through the outer layer of the lightning ball and completely eradicated it, but the moment the lightning touched Agiel’s wet body, it sparked a chain reaction that travelled across all the water that covered the city ground, and Agiel let out a scream as she was electrocuted by millions of volts! Agiel did her best to continue destroying the bomb, but the combination of the two attacks was too much for her to handle, and Agiel felt her mana fail her at the last moment! The lightning ball slammed into the ground with immense force as Agiel was pushed back, and then the world exploded!

KA-BOOOOM!

Jason watched from the ground as a wave of pure lightning tore through the entire city and sent buildings and cars flying around like toys! Jason didn’t bother moving from his spot in the sky, and he had his hands behind his back as he waited to see the aftermath of his attack. It took more than a full minute for the dust to clear out, but once it did, Jason finally got a look at Agiel, and Jason’s lips split into a proud grin as he saw that she was somehow still on her feet!

Agiel looked like an absolute mess! Her clothes were torn, and her entire body was burnt and bruised from the explosion! She was slouching over, like she had passed out on her feet, but Jason could still feel the flickers of her mana charging up for an attack, and Jason knew that she was still conscious down there. Honestly, what a terrifying fighting spirit.

Agiel’s mana continued to build as the pressure in the air grew even stronger, and Jason finally decided to give Agiel one last attack. Jason got rid of his mana and called on his Qi, and the pressure in the air tripled immediately as Jason activated a skill!

[Phoenix Fire]!

A blast of pure golden flames burst to life in Jason’s hand and began to grow! The air boiled and steamed as the fire heated everything around it, and Jason watched as Agiel finally stood straight and looked up at him with the widest smile he had ever seen! Honestly, Jason didn’t know why he felt so much for this woman! Agiel was a crazy person who enjoyed the thrill of a fight more than anything else, and yet, Jason couldn’t deny that he loved that part of her. Before this fight began, if anyone had asked Jason if he wanted this fight, then Jason would’ve definitely said no. But now, Jason realised that he didn’t just want this fight. Jason needed this fight! This was something that Jason should’ve done a long time ago, and Jason could feel the pressure on his heart settling into a calm sensation as he gave his soul what it desperately desired.

"DON’T YOU DARE HOLD BACK!"

Agiel shouted with all her might as her mana surged to a new life, and Jason smiled and spoke in a calm, understanding voice.

"Don’t worry... I won’t."

The ball in Jason’s hand had grown into a massive swirling sun that lit up the city sky, and Jason brought his hand forward and unleashed his [Phoenix Fire]! The ball fell to the ground like a comet crashing into the earth, and the entire city for miles in every direction erupted in flames!

KA-BOOM!

The fire rose up into a massive fireball that spread out across the city and destroyed anything that had not already been destroyed by the lightning! Jason couldn’t even see Agiel down there, and he had no idea if she was still alive or not! The intense pressure from Jason’s Qi had completely swallowed up Agiel’s mana, and so Jason couldn’t feel any of her power at all! But for some reason, Jason had a feeling that Agiel would survive this! Agiel was a survivor, and she had lived through things that would kill anyone else in her position! If there was anyone who could find a way through this, then it was her!

BOOM!

And just as Jason was having that thought, a circle tore open in the middle of the golden flames surrounding the city, and a figure flew out with their hands pulled back! Jason’s grin widened into a smile as he saw Agiel’s burnt form approaching him rapidly, and Jason was about to bring up a defence for it. But Jason suddenly stopped, and he slowly put his hand down and allowed his power to settle once again as Agiel flew towards him like a bullet! Jason put both hands out softly as Agiel finally reached him, and rather than hitting him with her strongest attack, Agiel’s mana suddenly fizzled out as Agiel’s body fell forward and landed in Jason’s open arms. Agiel had already passed out.

Agiel’s mana was completely depleted, and her body was burnt and bruised everywhere, but somehow, she was still smiling. Agiel’s fighting spirit had been fulfilled for the first time in her entire life, and she no longer felt the need to stand guard at the gate. The Agiel in Jason’s arms slowly began to vanish, and although Jason was a little worried at first, Jason felt in his heart that this was not something to be worried about. The fighting spirit was still there, but now it no longer needed to be separate from the rest of Agiel’s soul, so it was going back to where it belonged.

Once the fighting spirit vanished, a rumble travelled across the city, and Jason watched as the destroyed buildings and the torn streets were rapidly put back together again. This was Agiel’s mindscape, so it was capable of fixing itself. The fires died out and the water dried up as all the skyscrapers fitted back together like Lego bricks, and it wasn’t long before all the damage was reversed and everything had been returned to how it was.

Jason watched the world moving into place for a few seconds before he turned back toward the SMD building where he could still feel Agiel’s mana signature. The mana signature felt a lot calmer than before since Agiel’s desperate desire to fight him had finally been fulfilled, and as Jason got closer, he could feel Agiel’s mana growing more and more tense in anticipation! Jason could also feel his own heart beating faster, and Jason let out an amused huff at that moment as he realised he was actually looking forward to this.

Jason’s relationship with Agiel was complicated, to say the least. Although Jason hated the idea of some outside force dictating who he should care about or not, there was no denying that Agiel had a special place in Jason’s heart! Every single time they met, Jason found himself growing closer to the brash and strong-headed woman, and Jason couldn’t deny that if things had been different and he had met Agiel under better circumstances, then he would’ve definitely fallen in love with her by now!

Jason landed on the street and finally entered the SMD building, and he looked around the dark interior calmly for a few seconds before turning to his left to see a little girl sitting on the floor in the corner of the room.
