Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 1025: Awakening III

Once the elders chanted the third time, Stella began to move around Jason calmly. Stella held the bowl in one hand, and she would take some red dust out of the bowl with her other hand and wave it towards Jason so it washed over him like a rain of sand. The dust was a mix of all four elements, and it was a part of the ritual that connected Jason to the natural Qi of this world.

"Come forth the distant wind..."

Stella sprayed some dust.

"Devour, the unquenching fire..."

Spray!

"Destroy, the impenetrable earth..."

Spray!

"Consume, the unstoppable water..."

Spray!

Jason’s eyes were closed, and he allowed himself to slowly settle into a state of meditation as the Qi in the room began to reach out to him. Esdath and Jason had already spoken about what was meant to happen in this ritual a lot, but Jason had a feeling that even if they had not spoken about it, Jason would’ve still had an idea of how this was meant to go! The chants from the elders were elemental summons, and by chanting for all four elements, the elders were creating an atmosphere that would allow the awakener, that’s Jason, to be chosen by any one of the elements!

Every cultivator had one of four elements that they were most suited to! But in order to get chosen by one of the elements, the cultivator had to not only possess enough power, but they also had to prove that they were worthy of being chosen by that element!

The elders continued to chant in a loud voice that echoed off the temple walls, and Stella sprayed the ash over Jason’s body at regular intervals! This process would usually take more than forty minutes of constant chanting since the elements would need at least that much time to judge most awakeners, so everyone was surprised when a surge of fire suddenly came to life around the circular platform!

Phwoom!

The fire rose like a wall about one meter off the ground before it fell again and vanished! Once they noticed this, all the elders in the room were shocked! Seeing an element only five minutes into their chanting was completely unheard of, but the elders didn’t allow their surprise to stop them! Now that they knew what element Jason was most compatible with, they had to make sure the element stayed! The elders began to ignore the three chants that they were adding for the other elements, and they chanted only for the element of fire!

Stella continued to spray the dust on Jason, and inside Jason’s Alternate Dimension, Esdath couldn’t help but smile knowingly! Esdath had already predicted that this was what Jason’s element would be because of how many fire-based elemental powers Jason had awakened over the time Esdath had known him! Even the vampire ability Jason awakened was also fire-based, and that was more than enough proof that deep down in his soul, Jason was a fire elemental!

But Esdath didn’t speak up or do anything that could distract Jason from his meditation! For once, Esdath simply stayed silent, and he allowed Jason to put all his focus into the awakening!

Phwoom!

The fire surged to life once again, this time even larger than before, and then it died calmly! This pattern continued to repeat itself! Every time the elders would start the chant, the fire would surge to life before dying out again, and each time, it only continued to get bigger and bigger until finally they noticed that the colour of the flames was changing from the regular yellow and blue to a pure, bloody red that lit the entire cave in its crimson glow!

Many of the spectators took steps back in surprise when they saw this, and they began to wonder what had happened to the fire! There had never been a case of someone’s flames changing from yellow to red like this, so they all knew that this had to be a result of Jason’s personal elemental abilities alone! The elders continued to chant, and Stella continued to spray without allowing the changes to affect them much, and Jason was still kneeling in the center of the Qi Matrix, and he was allowing his mind to fall deeper and deeper into meditation!

Right now, Jason didn’t even remember where he was or what he had been doing! All that he knew was that he was swimming gently in a pool of his own Qi! A calm, peaceful sensation washed over Jason’s body, and the next time Jason opened his eyes, he was in a dark void that surrounded him on every side!

Jason let out calm breaths as he looked around the darkness, and he tried to move!

Clank!

But Jason was shocked to realise that he couldn’t move at all! He was shackled to the ground by two long chains made of pure crimson flames! The fires burned and raged with intense aggressiveness, and for a moment Jason didn’t feel it burning him at all. But the moment Jason’s concentration slipped, he grunted as an intense pain travelled up his arm, and he had to force himself back into concentration so the flames wouldn’t burn him! The red flames were the only source of light in this dark void, and it barely allowed Jason to see a few feet all around him!

’This... is my Soul Core.’

Jason didn’t know why he suddenly had this realization! But for some reason, Jason simply knew that that is what this had to be! It was the only explanation Jason could give for what he was seeing all around him! This was Jason’s Soul Core, and he was being held down by his elemental Qi! But what was he doing here? Is this also part of the ritual? Didn’t Esdath say that there would be some sort of judgement...?

Phwoom!

And just as Jason thought that, he saw it! A surge of crimson fire erupted to life in front of him and forced Jason to look up in shock at the massive creature that was forming from the flame! The beast was as large as Arcticus, and its wingspan was wide enough to wrap around a skyscraper multiple times! The moment Jason saw it, he couldn’t stop the awe in his voice as he whispered.

"A phoenix."

CAW!

The majestic bird let out a loud cry that reverberated through Jason’s entire soul, and Jason grunted as he felt the cry slam into his mind like a physical thing! Jason’s concentration almost slipped, but he held on tight and did his best to stay focused so the fire wouldn’t burn him!

Out in the real world, the elders and Stella all stopped what they were doing when the crimson flames erupted into a massive pillar of fire that surrounded Jason on every side! The flames were so hot that Stella had to quickly move away from the stage so she couldn’t get burned, and she watched with a worried look on her face as the fire began to swirl around Jason slowly!

"A Soul Beast! Is he about to gain a soul beast!?"

One of the elders cried out in shock when he noticed the intensity of the flames around Jason! This wasn’t how things were supposed to go for a regular awakening, and he knew that this was a sign that someone was about to gain something even greater than a simple elemental awakening! But another elder spoke up from the side before the first elder could get too excited!

"No, we don’t know that yet. He is currently being judged. If he fails this judgment, his soul will fracture itself, and he will die. We must pray for his success."
