Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 1023: Awakening I
Previously on Strongest Necromancer System...
It was impossible for anyone not to feel guilty after damning billions of people to death, but Agiel didn’t have a choice! Agiel didn’t know those people out there, and she didn’t owe them anything. The only people that Agiel owed anything to were her own people, and Agiel knew that they would suffer if she didn’t go through with this marriage! Agiel couldn’t abandon the people she knew for people that she didn’t know!
But at the same time, Agiel knew that the guilt of this choice would weigh on her heart for the rest of her life! There was no way Agiel wouldn’t learn about the disaster when it finally came, and the knowledge that she could’ve done something about it would always be on Agiel’s mind!
’I’m already suffering anyway. What difference would a bit more suffering make?’
Agiel took in a few deep breaths, and she felt her resolve strengthen as she made up her mind! Agiel gathered herself once more before leaving the hallway behind to meet the king in the courtyard outside!
Deep inside Agiel’s heart, Agiel knew that if it had been Jason who had come to tell her about this disaster, then there was a high chance that she would’ve listened to him and abandoned her people to help him. But Agiel didn’t even address that part of her heart since she had already buried everything about Jason a long time ago! Agiel was going to get married, and she would free her people. There was no alternative.
....
[Eastern Mountain Sect]
[With Jason]
Jason was sitting on the floor in the large bedroom in his inn. He was in a cross-legged position as he did his best to calm his mind and meditate. After Daris had brought Jason to this inn, Jason had been given one of the best rooms and left alone to relax before the Awakening ceremony that would be happening soon.
Stella was still not done with what she was helping the cultivators with, and Jason was checking in on her every now and then to make sure that she was alright. The sun had already set outside, and it was the dead of night, and Jason could feel a cold wind washing over his body from the open window beside him. The full moon cast ripples of light across the lake surface, and the fish caused gentle waves to flow across the water as they swam.
The Eastern Mountain Sect was exceptionally peaceful at night, and this was mainly because most of the sect members understood the importance of meditation during the night, and almost no one could be seen moving around since they were all in their rooms or training areas, calming their minds.
Stab!
"Ngh."
But even though Jason was trying his best to meditate, the constant stabbing pain in his heart made it impossible for him to do that! Jason opened his eyes and rubbed his chest slowly to try to get rid of the pain, and Jason began to wonder if this had anything to do with Agiel. The only time Jason felt this way was when he thought about her, and Jason frowned as he did his best to ignore the feeling.
’That isn’t healthy for you, Jason. Ignoring sensations like that is what leads to Qi corruption during meditation. Are you sure you don’t want to go talk to this woman?’
Esdath spoke up seriously for the first time in a while, and Jason simply waved away Esdath’s concerns. Jason knew that the reason he was feeling this way was because Agiel was about to get married. For some reason, his body just didn’t agree with her marriage, and even if Jason already told himself that he wouldn’t bother about it, it was impossible for him to just ignore the feeling in his chest. Jason could only hope that it would pass soon.
Jason got off the floor since he realised he couldn’t meditate anymore for now, and he switched his consciousness towards one of his subordinates who was working together with Stragga and Francis on another world. Since Jason had given Stragga and Francis permission to take the superhumans to other worlds and take care of issues, they had immediately started going on missions to help out. Right now, they were on a world known as Caelin, trying to take care of a small group of interdimensional bandits that were blocking the trade routes over there. The bandits were all low-ranking mages, so Jason knew that they wouldn’t have any issues at all.
Jason sat on the windowsill, and he looked out of the room to watch the lake below him for a few long seconds!
"Master Jason."
A voice suddenly called out from in front of him, and Jason looked up to see a man floating in the air outside his window. The man was dressed in the traditional sect uniform – a long robe and a belt – and he had his hands behind his back as he looked down at Jason calmly! Jason waited patiently as the man spoke up again.
"I hope you were able to relax your mind during your free time."
Jason hummed and nodded once, and the man gestured for Jason to come along.
"Then we are ready for you, Master Jason. Please follow me."
The man turned and began to float away from the inn calmly, and Jason raised a brow at the strange invitation before he grabbed his robes and put them on. Jason then floated out the window and left the inn behind as well. Jason already had a feeling that the cultivators would try to throw him off by calling him when he least expected it, and Jason was not disappointed at all!
The two men flew over the massive lake and finally made their way in the direction of a monumental temple that looked like it belonged in the ruins of an old civilization! It was a tower that rose high above every other building there, and at the base of the tower, there were four stairs – one on each side – that formed a strange pyramid structure around the tower! Jason was led to one of the steps, and he landed at the top. The large double doors that towered over Jason’s head groaned as they slowly opened to reveal the darkness of a tunnel leading into the deeper region of the temple!
The man who led Jason here entered the temple and began heading through the tunnel, and Jason followed after him. As they walked, the tunnel lit itself with torches that had been lined along the wall, and Jason didn’t really bother paying any attention to the things around him until they arrived at their final destination. It was a massive room lit by blue flames that shone on torches attached to pillars around the room. At the center of the room, there were three old men standing around a large circular platform, and there were three women holding small bowls and waiting in a straight line close to Jason.
"You must go for them to prepare you. Please do not resist them. Just allow them to do what must be done."
Ronan walked up to Jason from the side as he said this, and Jason turned to the familiar man and noticed that there was an entire crowd of people standing on the left end of the room and watching Jason curiously. A cultivator’s awakening was a very important moment, so it was common for other cultivators to come around and watch to see what Element the cultivator would gain!
