"Who sent you?"
This was the first thing Agiel said to the man, and the man responded truthfully.
"My master is named Harold Marc. He is the third son of the sixth wife of King Richard Marc, and the older brother of Overlord Jason Marc."
Agiel felt her eyes widen when she heard that name, and her hands formed into fists as she turned away! Agiel immediately told B to leave!
"I don’t want to listen to whatever you have to say. My connection with the Marc family has been severed a long time ago, and I don’t wish to rebuild any of the burnt bridges. Leave."
"The message I was given regards the life and safety of a significant portion of the Primordial Expanse. If you do not hear what I have to say, then hundreds of billions across thousands of worlds will die."
Agiel felt shock pass through her body, and she turned to look at B in surprise! Agiel couldn’t see B’s expression at all, but Agiel had a feeling that B was giving her a hard look, and she found herself wondering if this man was actually telling the truth! Agiel didn’t want to have anything to do with anyone in the Marc family anymore. Agiel had already sworn that she wouldn’t get involved with Jason again, and she knew that hearing this message would definitely pull her back into that family again! Agiel couldn’t do this! The Marcs had brought her family nothing but pain, and she couldn’t get involved with them again!
But at the same time, Agiel knew that she had to listen. The threat of hundreds of billions dying wasn’t something that anyone could just ignore, and Agiel wasn’t so heartless that she could allow her own desire to not get involved with the Marc family to lead to the death of so many people! Agiel closed her eyes and let out a long sigh before she turned to face B, and she asked him:
"What is the message?"
B nodded thankfully when he heard this, and he finally spoke up.
"My master has asked me to tell this to you: There is a disaster approaching the Primordial Expanse. A disaster so great that its mere presence will eradicate billions. We do not know its name, or its origin. We only know its purpose, and we are certain that once it arrives, it will carve a path of death through at least seven of the ten domains in the Primordial Expanse."
The more B spoke, the more Agiel felt a dread coming over her body! Agiel was feeling dread not only because of the sort of image B’s words were painting in her head but also because of what she was anticipating B would ask her to do. Agiel didn’t know why, but she had a feeling that B was about to ask her for something that she couldn’t do! Agiel realised that she might soon need to make a choice between saving billions and saving millions, and that was something Agiel did not want to do! Agiel frowned as she spoke!
"What does all this have to do with me? Shouldn’t you be trying to find a way to stop it?"
B nodded, and he gestured towards her!
"My master has sent me to you for that very reason. We believe that you are the key to stopping this disaster. You and the man you are destined to share your soul with, Jason Marc."
Ba-Dump!
Agiel suddenly felt a great ache in her chest when she heard this, and she squeezed her hands into tight fists as she stepped back! It felt like someone had just stabbed a knife through her heart, and Agiel bit her tongue as she forced herself to calm down again! B waited patiently for Agiel to get herself back, and it was only after Agiel was back to normal that B continued.
"My master does not know the details of your power, and he is not aware of how you are meant to stop this disaster, but he understands that you are about to get married to someone else. This marriage cannot go through because it will significantly affect my master’s plans to stop this disaster from happening."
Agiel let out a calming sigh, and she frowned once she heard it! There was a feeling of anger slowly brewing in Agiel’s heart, and that feeling grew until it was almost gripping her heart tightly! When Agiel spoke, it was in a low voice that expressed far more anger than shouting ever could.
"Do you and your master even know why I am doing this?"
B went silent, and Agiel almost scoffed in amusement! Why was Agiel not even surprised!? This was typical of the Marc family! They just do whatever they think is right without caring about what the people around them wanted! Agiel should’ve known that Jason’s brother would be just like him!
"I will not abandon my people for the sake of your master’s plans. It’s unfortunate that billions are going to die across the Primordial Expanse, but truthfully, that is not my concern. Billions have died before, and billions will die again. My duty is to my people and to ensuring that they survive. If I can do that, then I see no reason for me to feel any guilt about the lives of people I have never known. I will be getting married soon, so please go and tell your master to find someone else to help you with your ambition."
B felt his expression squeeze into a frown when he heard this, and he started to feel the first strings of panic rising from inside him. B had honestly believed that telling Agiel about what would be happening would be enough to get her to cancel this marriage, but it seemed that the death of billions wasn’t enough reason for her to leave!
"Madam Agiel, I think you should -"
"Don’t make me hurt you, B. I understand that you are only a messenger, and that is why I am not taking my anger out on you. Take my response back to your master and tell him that I am not interested. Leave."
B felt his words die in his throat as an intense pressure suddenly settled on the hallway! Even though Agiel was still only an SSS Rank, she had an aura unlike anything any SSS Rank should be able to produce! Agiel was a woman who constantly threw herself into danger for the sake of a thrill, and she was more than familiar with what it felt like to dance on the edge of death! So her aura put the literal fear of death into B’s body!
B swallowed, and he realised that this conversation was over. It was unfortunate, but they would really have to find some other way to stop the disaster that was coming. B bowed to Agiel, and he spoke.
"I hope you will reconsider your choice, Madam Agiel. For the sake of those who will be lost. If you happen to have a change of heart, then I will be there to aid you in escaping from the King of Jadar."
B stepped towards the wall, and he melted back into it before vanishing from the hallway. Once he was gone, Agiel let out a shuddering breath that she didn’t know she had been holding, and she leaned against the wall beside her as an intense guilt came over her body!
