Intricately carved dragons and phoenixes adorned the stone pillars at the grand entrance, appearing astonishingly lifelike.
A towering iron gate stood tall, with two sizable red lanterns suspended from the top on either side.
Tian Xingyun's frown deepened; the sheer opulence of the mansion immediately told her this belonged to an exceedingly wealthy family.
However, she couldn't recall knowing any affluent individuals. What business could this family possibly have with her?
Could her second brother have fallen into debt again? Even that seemed improbable.
Despite her second brother's penchant for gambling, he never wagered more than a couple of thousand yuan in a single session.
"Miss Tian, please follow me." The elderly gentleman gestured, leading the way.
"Uh, okay." Tian Xingyun was momentarily taken aback, casting aside her wandering thoughts as she followed him inside.
Based on the current circumstances, she supposed her best course of action was to proceed one step at a time. Surely, a family of this magnitude wouldn't resort to anything drastic, would they?
Upon passing through the gate, her eyes landed on a stone-paved pathway, flanked by small potted flowers on either side.
These blossoms were in full bloom, releasing a delicate floral fragrance into the air.
Inhaling the sweet scent, Tian Xingyun felt a sense of calm wash over her, diminishing her earlier nervousness.
Continuing to follow the elderly gentleman, they meandered down the stone path, traversed a charming little bridge over a garden stream,
and then proceeded through an extensive corridor before emerging onto another stone path. Finally, a magnificent, sprawling villa came into view.
The villa's architectural style leaned towards the traditional, yet it exuded an undeniable air of grandeur.
Stepping into the living room, they discovered an elderly woman with snow-white hair seated upon the central sofa.
She wore glasses and was engrossed in a book, clad in a vintage, long-sleeved embroidered cheongsam, complemented by a white shawl and black trousers.
The elderly gentleman approached Grandma Huo, offering a slight, respectful bow before announcing, "Madam, this is Miss Tian Xingyun."
His palm extended, directly indicating Tian Xingyun's presence.
Grandma Huo set her book aside, adjusted her spectacles, and then turned her attention towards Tian Xingyun.
She began to circle Tian Xingyun slowly, her gaze meticulously examining every inch of her person.
Tian Xingyun swallowed nervously, her mind racing. What exactly was this elderly woman looking for?
Her scrutinizing gaze felt strangely intense.
Suddenly...
Grandma Huo reached out and heartily patted Tian Xingyun's backside, exclaiming with a beaming smile, "Such a generous derrière! You'll definitely be able to bear children without issue!"
"..." Tian Xingyun's eyes widened in sheer astonishment, her face instantly flushing crimson.
What on earth was this old lady spouting?!
She instinctively took several steps back, maintaining a cautious distance from Grandma Huo.
"Oh dear, did I startle you? I'm simply overcome with joy," Grandma Huo chuckled, covering her mouth, her demeanor appearing somewhat flustered.
"Excuse me, Madam, did you send for me?" Tian Xingyun inquired tentatively.
"Yes, I did. Are you pregnant?" Grandma Huo seized Tian Xingyun's hand, her eyes fixed intently on Tian Xingyun's abdomen.
"H-how did you know?!"
"That's not the most crucial detail. What truly matters is the child within you," Grandma Huo declared jovially, reaching out as if to caress Tian Xingyun's stomach.
"What are you doing?!" Tian Xingyun recoiled, pushing Grandma Huo's hand away and taking several steps back while protectively shielding her belly.
This elderly woman was utterly bizarre, summoning her here for such an inexplicable reason.
And she somehow knew about her pregnancy. Was there some ulterior motive at play?
Grandma Huo stumbled slightly, but before she could fall, a figure darted forward, steadily supporting her.
His sharp gaze immediately fixed on Tian Xingyun, and his voice was icy as he demanded, "Who are you?"
"..." Tian Xingyun, startled by his intense stare, blinked, finding herself momentarily speechless.
"Who are you? How dare you push my grandmother!" Huo Shaohua's voice boomed with authority, his handsome features contorted with anger.
"I didn't push her," Tian Xingyun protested swiftly. She had only intended to distance herself, not to shove deliberately.
"Foolish boy, you've frightened her!" Grandma Huo chided, playfully slapping Huo Shaohua's shoulder.
"Grandma, she pushed you! Why are you defending her?"
"She didn't push me; I simply lost my balance myself."
"Who is she?" Huo Shaohua's piercing gaze swept over Tian Xingyun once more.
"She is the mother of your child," Grandma Huo announced with undisguised delight.
