Starting as the President of a Billionaire Group Chapter 1439 - 1413: Visiting Elder Su
Previously on Starting as the President of a Billionaire Group...
"Grandpa, after graduating, I just found a job to earn some money, and then used that money to start a business with friends. I was lucky enough to earn some more and invest in stocks, which is why I have this wealth now." Ye Chen said naturally.
Elder Su clearly could not believe it, but it was still better than Ye Chen saying his parents were rich.
The old man had investigated Ye Chen’s family background; he wasn’t some rich second generation.
"Oh, that’s how it is. Indeed, the stock market was very good those years, anyone who invested could make money. Several of my friends earned quite a bit." Elder Su was very smart; he knew Ye Chen couldn’t be telling him the truth, so he chose to go along with Ye Chen instead of exposing him.
Actually, the old man just felt worried about Ye Chen being so young and having so much wealth, concerned about the source of the money, and also feared it might implicate his granddaughter.
However, thinking about Ye Chen’s actions, he immediately dismissed this idea and no longer doubted Ye Chen.
Seeing Ye Chen not speaking, Elder Su stroked his beard and said, "Do you find Grandpa annoying for asking you about these things?"
"How could that be? I know Grandpa is concerned about me." Ye Chen shook his head and said.
From Ye Chen’s facial expression, Elder Su knew Ye Chen was sincere in what he said.
"Actually, Grandpa just hopes that you and Wanyi can be happy forever. But remember, money isn’t always the source of happiness. As the saying goes, ’A gentleman loves wealth, but acquires it with integrity.’" Elder Su voiced his thoughts.
"Grandpa, rest assured, every penny Wanyi and I earn is clean." Ye Chen said firmly.
Although Elder Su’s speech was quite long-winded, Ye Chen really enjoyed chatting with him because the old man conveyed full positive energy.
"Hmm, that’s good. When are you planning to have the wedding?" Elder Su changed the topic and asked.
"Well, it’s still up to Wanyi." Ye Chen scratched his head and said.
"Ah, you young people think that as long as your relationship is good, there’s no rush. But you can’t be unhurried about having children." Elder Su sighed and said.
He then continued, "Little Chen, don’t think I’m being naggy. I’m saying this for your own good. When you get older and can’t have kids, you’ll know the rush. Also, Grandpa knows men love to have fun; I was just like you in my youth. But no matter how many women you have around, you must choose one to live with."
Listening to the old man, Ye Chen felt a bit wronged.
He thought that such matters weren’t something he could decide; it was up to his wife, Su Wanyi.
Ye Chen genuinely didn’t want to bear the blame, but if he told the truth, Su Wanyi might be upset, and he would end up paying for it.
"Grandpa, I understand. I will relay your words to Wanyi." Ye Chen nodded and said.
"Little Chen, if it’s Wanyi’s issue, I can talk to her directly. My granddaughter listens to me the most." Elder Su said.
"Grandpa, no need. Let me discuss with Wanyi. After all, such things need to be decided by the two of us together. If you say it, I feel it’s not quite appropriate." Ye Chen hurriedly stopped.
He thought if the old man made this call, he might not be able to return home.
Su Wanyi would definitely think Ye Chen’s visit was to complain about her to Grandpa, which wouldn’t end well for him.
"Alright, alright, this is ultimately between the two of you. It’s not quite appropriate for us elders to intervene too much." Elder Su nodded in agreement.
Hearing this, Ye Chen finally felt relieved.
Elder Su looked up at the clock; it was already six o’clock, time for dinner.
"Little Chen, are you willing to join Grandpa for dinner?" Elder Su suddenly asked.
"Of course I am." Ye Chen nodded in agreement.
Then he planned to take out his phone to call Su Wanyi, but the old man stopped him.
"Grandpa, I’ll call Wanyi to come over and join us for dinner." Ye Chen looked at the old man with a puzzled expression.
"No, today I just want to eat with you. That girl Wanyi would only interfere if she comes." Elder Su waved his hand and said.
Since the old man already said so, it would be inappropriate for Ye Chen to make the call.
So, he had to put the phone down.
"Little Chen, what do you want to eat? I’ll have the chef make it for you." Elder Su asked Ye Chen.
"Anything will do. Eating is not the purpose; the main thing is to accompany Grandpa." Ye Chen shared his thoughts.
"Old Zhang, Old Zhang." Elder Su called the butler’s name.
After a while, the butler came running and said, "Sir, what can I do for you?"
"Old Zhang, inform the chef to prepare a few dishes. I want to keep Ye Chen for dinner." Elder Su spoke to the butler with a wink.
The butler understandingly said, "Sir, the chef asked for leave this morning due to family matters and hasn’t come yet."
"Oh dear, I actually forgot about this." Elder Su frowned and said.
Then, he looked at Ye Chen and said, "Little Chen, shall we eat out?"
"No need, Grandpa. I’ll cook." Ye Chen offered.
He felt this was a setup; there was no chef asking for leave. It was just Elder Su testing him.
"Alright then, I’m sorry for the trouble, Little Chen." Elder Su readily agreed.
Seeing the old man’s attitude, Ye Chen realized he had been deceived; the old man intended for him to cook.
However, Ye Chen wasn’t intimidated by cooking. After all, he possessed Divine-level Cooking Skill; cooking wasn’t something that could hinder him.
"Grandpa, could you tell me where the kitchen is?" Ye Chen stood up and asked.
"Old Zhang, take Little Chen to the kitchen." Elder Su said to the butler.
"Mr. Ye, please follow me." The butler gestured to Ye Chen.
Although he hadn’t figured out the young man’s background, seeing how familiar Elder Su and Ye Chen were, he knew Ye Chen’s identity was not simple.
Watching Ye Chen turn and leave, Elder Su showed a satisfied smile. Just as Ye Chen thought, the old man wanted to test whether he was someone who could settle down, to see if his beloved granddaughter would suffer with him.
Actually, this was just Elder Su’s old-fashioned thinking; how many young people nowadays cook at home themselves?
