Trafalgar and Caelum interrogate Esmond, using brutal methods to extract information. Caelum inflicts physical pain by tearing and reshaping Esmond's fingernails, then crippling a knuckle, all while using a potion to keep Esmond conscious and able to feel the torment. Esmond initially resists, boasting of enduring the Vaelion, but eventually breaks under the relentless torture. When Trafalgar questions him about his involvement with the Vaelion and Icarus, Esmond finally agrees to confess everything to make the pain stop.
