Damon easily deflects all attacks from the gods, absorbing their power. He then brutally kills the wind god, draining him completely. When another goddess attempts to flee, Damon pulls her back and the elderly god intervenes, severing Damon's tendril. Damon fights the elderly god and the silver-bladed god, then turns his attention to Minnahithaya, the eel god, absorbing its divine blood and devouring it entirely, shocking all onlookers.

Damon sneered, looking at the dread on everyone’s faces. He vanished once again, simultaneously appearing in front of every single God present there and, of course, his special friend Aiden.

Chaos ensued as all sorts of attacks flew by. The space was being torn to shreds, but the tables did not turn. Damon continued to completely absorb every single attack that dropped on him. He was like a black hole. There was no point in fighting against an enemy like him.

The Gods also realized. All of their efforts were futile. Aiden started hastily taking out one treasure after another. It all proved useless.

Damon continued to laugh maniacally as he started devouring one God after another. His blood avatars were just as powerful as he was, and no one could do anything about it.

One of the Gods completely gave up on attacking him and instead targeted one of the many Demi-Gods behind Damon.

“Stop this madness at once. We mistook you for a mindless corrupted, and hence we came to destroy you. That was our mistake. Let us leave, and your people will live.”

A silver blade hovered against the throat of the crimson elf.

The god holding it had forced his way through the edge of the formation, catching her while the others were occupied. One arm locked around her shoulders as he kept her between himself and Damon’s nearest avatar.

For a moment, Damon stopped laughing.

The god noticed immediately. “Call them back.”

Around them, the other avatars continued feeding. A scream ended abruptly to his left, followed by the clatter of a weapon striking a broken piece of stone.

The god pressed his blade closer. A thin line of blood appeared on the elf’s neck.

However, Damon only roared with laughter, which made him seem more and more unhinged. “Do you know who you are holding hostage? That is my fucking wife.”

The God’s face darkened. He instantly realized that he had made a mistake.

“I have also forgotten to do something important.” Damon continued laughing. “I have ascended to godhood, and yet I haven’t even blessed any of my family. Sometimes I can be so selfish, you know.”

The God swallowed. He knew that this was not good. “Have you lost your mind?” The man tightened his grip. “I will kill her!”

Damon chuckled and simply raised his hand. “I bless you, my love, and you and you and you, my dear wives and all of you bastards. Now break through and ascend for me!”

Several blood tendrils erupted from him, and this time they did not come for the enemies. Instead, the blood tendrils sank into each and every single one of the demi-Gods. Stats, skills and buffs poured into everyone, giving them all a huge boost.

But it did not stop with that. A moment later, dao insights also started pouring into the Demi-Gods. Aurora, Lirae, Erin instantly started breaking through. Everyone else was also on the verge.

The God holding Lirae hostage trembled. What the hell was this madness? What was going on?

His grip hadn’t changed, yet he suddenly felt as though he were trying to restrain an entire world. Crimson light spread beneath Lirae’s skin, and the blood touching his blade began moving against its edge.

He pulled the weapon across her throat but it stopped. Two slender fingers held the blade in place. Lirae turned her head toward him. The wound beneath her chin closed as he watched.

“You heard my husband,” she said. “Let go.”

The god tried. Crimson roots had already grown through the sleeve of the arm wrapped around her shoulders. They coiled around his wrist, crossed his elbow, and tightened against his chest.

He released the sword and attempted to tear himself free. Lirae caught his hand. Behind her, an enormous tree began taking shape in the void.

Its trunk was dark red, its branches bare. As the stolen insights poured into her, fine lines spread across its bark, each one following a pattern that made the surrounding mana stir.

The god recognized what he was seeing. Her Dao was manifesting right here in his fucking arms. “No!” He struck her back with his free hand.

The blow landed against a layer of crimson light. Lirae lurched forward, but the roots holding him tightened, drawing him along with her. A leaf opened on the nearest branch. Then another.

Damon watched with a delighted grin. “That’s it.”

He could feel what she needed through their connection. The insights she had received were settling into place, but her body was struggling to support the transformation. He sent more power.

The god’s eyes widened as he recognized traces of familiar auras flowing through the tendril attached to her. The tree behind her spread its branches, and the pressure of a newly born god swept outward.

At the same moment, two more auras erupted nearby.

The angel’s six wings blazed with crimson light. Her broken feathers regrew, their surfaces covered in delicate markings that spread from one feather to the next. Barriers unfolded around the family without her raising a hand.

The dragon threw back her head and roared.

Dark scales split along their edges as new armor formed beneath them. Poisonous mist gathered around her horns, compressing into droplets that fell upward and vanished into the enormous shadow taking shape behind her.

Three breakthroughs.

The remaining Demi-Gods were still climbing.

Some closed their eyes, concentrating on the knowledge rushing through their minds. Others trembled as their bodies changed beneath the strain, but Damon adjusted the flow each time, refusing to let the power overwhelm them.

For all his laughter and raving madness, his attention never left them. He had swallowed enough gods to drown a world in power. He could certainly afford to take care of his family.

Across the battlefield, Aiden stopped struggling for a moment. His gaze moved from one ascension to the next. He had prepared for Damon to become stronger. He had prepared for stolen abilities, powerful allies, unexpected treasures.

How was he supposed to prepare for this? The very gods he had gathered to kill Damon were becoming the foundation of his family’s ascension.

Aiden gritted his teeth. A spatial tear silently opened up near him. The blood avatar in front of him was bound in golden chains. His face once again turned indifferent.

“You really did exceed my expectations,” Aiden said. “But my calculations will never be wrong. The karma between us will bring us together again. The next time you will cease to exist.”

He calmly stepped inside the spatial tear about to disappear when a blood tendril shot forward at the very last minute and yanked him right back to Damon.

“Leaving without saying goodbye?” Damon grinned viciously as he stared at the guy. “You are right. We do indeed have a lot of unfinished business.”

Aiden gritted his teeth as a golden sphere appeared in his hand. Without hesitation he crushed the sphere. The next second, eight giant figures appeared. The giant figures resembled knights and carried huge swords, their bodies encased in golden armor from head to toe.

Each stood several times taller than Aiden, with a blazing symbol carved into the center of its breastplate. They moved before their forms had fully solidified.

Two swords descended toward the tendril holding Aiden. Another pair thrust toward Damon’s chest, while the remaining knights formed a circle around their summoner.

Damon caught one blade in his bare hand. His feet slid backward. The other struck his shoulder, driving him farther away as the two descending swords severed the tendril.

Aiden was free. He immediately retreated behind the armored figures, one hand pressed against the bloody mark around his waist.

Damon glanced at his shoulder. A shallow wound ran beneath his torn shirt, closing as he watched. Then he looked at the sword still caught between his fingers. “Well, look at that. You saved something decent.”

Blood spread over the blade. The knight released it immediately and drove its fist toward his face. Damon tilted his head, letting the blow pass, and plunged his free hand into the armor beneath its arm. His fingers met resistance.

Inside the armor, tightly wound golden threads revolved around a small, intensely bright core. The knight’s breastplate opened.

Damon’s eyes narrowed. “Oh, you little—”

The core detonated. Golden light swallowed him, and the seven remaining knights moved through the explosion without hesitation. Their swords struck from different angles, forcing him to turn as he absorbed the blast.

One blade cut across his back. Another pierced his forearm. Damon seized that knight by its helmet and crushed it.

The armor collapsed, but the threads inside immediately streamed toward its nearest companion. That knight’s aura swelled, and its next strike knocked Damon’s hand aside.

Behind them, Aiden began opening another passage.
