Damon unleashed his bloodline, creating a vortex to counter the dragon's devouring attack. He managed to redirect some of the energy, but the dragon shifted its strategy, turning Damon's own vortex against him. Damon barely escaped a crushing claw and decided to use his newly awakened Origin Energy. He punched the dragon's blinding energy sphere, overwhelming it and driving his fist into the dragon's jaw, creating a massive wound. The dragon attempted to flee through a spatial tear, but Damon used his bloodline connection to teleport onto its neck and repeatedly strike it with Origin Energy until the beast died.

Damon’s gaze traveled along the dragon’s body, taking in the enormous wings and the claws that had nearly ripped him apart a few moments earlier.

There had to be enough material here to make weapons for an entire civilization, assuming he could find anyone capable of working with it. Even a single tooth would probably have kingdoms fighting over it. Unfortunately for those kingdoms, Damon had absolutely no intention of sharing.

Blood tendrils shot out from him, spreading across the dragon’s enormous body until they completely covered it. They slipped between its scales and burrowed into the wounds he had left behind, branching into countless thinner strands as they worked their way through the flesh.

Damon could feel each one extending farther from him, and he fed more power into them, unwilling to leave even a drop of blood drifting through the void.

The first surge rushed back through the tendrils, making his entire body stiffen. His eyes widened as the dragon’s blood poured into him, carrying so much energy that for a moment he forgot to keep pulling.

Heat flooded his chest and spread through his limbs, while his bloodline stirred with an insatiable hunger.

“Fuck me,” he muttered, staring down at the corpse. Killing the beast had been satisfying enough, but apparently, the real reward had been waiting for him afterward. He settled onto one of its enormous scales and increased the pull, drawing another torrent through the crimson strands.

The flesh beneath him began to shrivel. Farther along the dragon’s body, blood vessels ruptured as the tendrils stripped them dry, drawing their contents toward him through channels that glowed brighter with every passing second.

Even then, Damon could tell he was barely making a dent in the reserves contained within the corpse. The bastard had probably spent thousands of years swallowing everything it could get its mouth around, and now he was getting all of it.

He grinned and closed his eyes, turning his attention inward as his body greedily broke down the incoming blood. Power seeped into his muscles and bones, but he was far more interested in the faint strands deep inside him.

Damon frowned as seconds ticked by. His entire body was bursting with energy but the origin energy he had used was still missing.

He waited a little longer, following the incoming power as it spread through his body. His muscles absorbed it, his bones grew denser, and even his mana reserves swelled under the constant flood.

The remaining Origin Energy, however, continued curling quietly inside him without gaining so much as a single thread.

“Come on,” Damon muttered, directing some of the absorbed energy toward it.

He compressed the power as tightly as he could and pushed it against the faint strands, hoping his body would figure out the rest. Instead, the gathered energy scattered, slipping back into his flesh while the Origin Energy remained completely unaffected.

Perhaps his body needed time to replenish it, or perhaps there was some process he hadn’t figured out yet. He could hardly expect to understand everything about his new body after one fight.

Besides, this dragon was just the appetizer. The main meal should be coming anytime now. Damon grinned devilishly as he continued absorbing the enormous dragon.

Soon, the space around him started rippling. It looked like the guest he was expecting had finally arrived.

Damon kept absorbing, but his grin faded into a slack expression as he lowered his head and let his shoulders hunch. By the time a figure stepped out of the opening, he was crouched over the wound with blood dripping from his chin.

The newcomer was a tall man in white robes, with golden markings winding around his wrists and an expression of mild irritation on his handsome face. A pale ring hovered behind his head, turning slowly as his gaze traveled over the dragon’s shriveled body.

When he finally noticed Damon, his brows drew together. “One corrupted, devouring another. An ending fit for a creature like you. Stealing what doesn’t belong to you and wanting to ascend to godhood? What a joke. You creatures are a blight on this cosmos.”

Damon lowered his head and tore another handful of flesh from the dragon’s neck, pretending that the speech had failed to reach whatever remained of his brain.

He let the blood run between his fingers as he ate, though his attention stayed firmly on the newcomer. The bastard had barely arrived and was already giving a lecture. Apparently, becoming a god didn’t spare anyone the urge to hear themselves talk.

The god’s gaze moved over the tendrils covering the corpse, and his expression grew colder. “And now all that stolen power is gathering inside another beast. You don’t even understand what you’re swallowing, do you?”

The god descended toward the corpse, his robes remaining spotless despite the blood drifting around him. Every droplet that approached his body stopped and slid aside, leaving a clear space through which he moved effortlessly.

Damon answered with a low growl, lifting his bloody feral eyes to look at the man in front of him. Inside, his body was exploding with a hunger he had never seen before.

The dragon’s blood was still pouring into him, but his bloodline barely seemed interested in it anymore. Every instinct urged him toward the figure hovering above the corpse, so strongly that he had to dig his fingers into the flesh to keep himself still.

He could feel the power beneath those spotless robes, concentrated within a body that looked absurdly small beside the beast he had just killed. The smell of origin energy… he could almost taste it.

Damon let his mouth hang open as he stared. At least he wouldn’t have to fake the drooling.

The god noticed his gaze and let out a quiet laugh. “You want to devour me?”

He descended until his feet hovered just above the dragon’s scales. Damon immediately hunched over his meal, drawing several tendrils around himself while letting the others continue feeding. Up close, the hunger became almost unbearable.

“Of course you do,” the God continued. “Your kind never knows when to stop.”

Damon growled, showing his teeth as he retreated a little. The god followed without hesitation, apparently taking the movement as fear. His eyes traveled over Damon’s body, lingering briefly on the tendrils emerging from his back before returning to his face.

“How much have you swallowed to reach this point? How many worlds?”

Damon had no intention of answering, even if the man sounded as though he expected one. Instead, he tore another piece from the dragon and shoved it into his mouth, making a mess of it as he chewed. The god’s expression twisted with disgust, but he moved another step closer.

“Just because you won against this abomination that called itself a true dragon, you think you can devour me? Me?” The god laughed. “Come! Come at me! You probably can’t even sense who I am, can you? Come at me, you wretched thing. I will put you out of your misery.”

Damon stared at him for a moment, almost forgetting to chew. It would be rude to refuse, especially after the man had gone to so much trouble to make himself available. With a vicious grin, he swallowed the flesh, and lunged forward, sending his blood tendrils ahead of him.
