Behind Kael, a phantom silhouette rose. A colossal draconic shadow stretched across the sky, its wings spanning the valley like a storm cloud. Ancient eyes opened within the illusion, staring down upon everyone gathered below.
For several seconds… no one moved. Then a few fighters stepped back. A beastkin warrior lowered his weapon slowly, confusion filling his eyes. "What… is this feeling…"
Another human gritted his teeth, sweat pouring down his face as he struggled to resist the invisible pressure.
Above the battlefield, the floating elites also froze. The young master of the Beluga family started trembling nervously. "You are… it can't be… you are…"
Kael simply smiled. He opened his mouth to say something, but before he could do that, his gaze darted to the blade of grass. A single person was standing next to it, completely unaffected by his aura.
"A necromancer has this much willpower? Interesting." Kael grinned.
He took only one step forward, and he appeared right next to the person. But the person did not react at all. Instead, a girl appeared. Or rather her corpse. Kael's eyes widened as he sensed a strong sword intent coming from her. Once again, he was shocked.
"Superb! Things are starting to get more and more interesting. I did the right thing by ignoring those old foggies and coming here." He laughed again. "Come on now. Give me a good fight." He punched his fists together, and a blast of power exploded outward.
Ancient runes flickered all around, and the entire place changed into something more mysterious. A weird mist appeared and swirled in the domain. Kael snarled as he charged forward towards the corpse.
The young girl immediately swung her sword down. It was just a single descending strike. Yet the moment the blade moved, the air split apart with a sharp scream. Sword intent burst forward like a silver river crashing down a cliff.
Kael's grin widened. "Good!" His fist shot upward. The punch collided with the descending blade. Boom! The impact exploded outward like thunder.
The ground beneath them cracked instantly. Hard earth shattered into fragments as a shockwave rippled across the valley. Several nearby beings were thrown backward as if struck by a storm.
Kael skidded back several meters before digging his claws into the ground. The corpse girl slid back as well, her feet carving two clean lines through the ground.
Kael shook his arm slightly. His scales glimmered faintly where the blade had struck. "Hahaha!" His laughter echoed across the land. "Not bad! Not bad at all!"
The corpse girl did not respond. Her eyes were cold, empty, and dead. She didn't care about the provocation at all. She simply raised the sword again, and this time, an even more powerful attack gathered around the blade. The moment the blade descended, dozens of ghostly sword shadows appeared behind it, each one carrying the same terrifying intent. Kael's pupils shrank. "Oh?" His grin widened even further. "Now that's what I'm talking about!" Golden light exploded from his body as draconic scales spread further across his skin. The phantom dragon behind him roared silently, its massive wings stirring the clouds.
Kael stepped forward instead of retreating. His fist pulled back. Then he punched. The punch carried no technique. He did not use any weapon. It was just pure overwhelming draconic force.
BOOOOM!
The collision between fist and blade shattered the air itself. A violent shockwave burst outward, flattening the surrounding grass and sending cracks spiderwebbing across the earth. A huge crater was now formed at the spot. Several weaker beings in the distance were blown off their feet.
For a brief moment the two forces locked. Sword intent clashed against draconic strength. Then… Crack! One of the ghostly sword shadows shattered. Then another.
But Kael's arm trembled slightly as well. His feet sank deeper into the ground as the enormous pressure pushed against him.
Kael laughed through the strain. "Good! Good!"
But the corpse girl had already moved again. Her body blurred through the mist, appearing above him in the next instant. The sword flashed once more. This time aimed directly at his neck.
Kael's eyes flashed. "Too slow." His hand shot up and he caught the blade barehanded. The impact blasted another shockwave across the valley as golden scales along his palm sparked violently against the sword.
For the first time, the corpse girl faltered. Her ghostly figure flickered and the next moment she completely disappeared.
Kael clicked his tongue as his attention shifted to the necromancer standing behind. His eyes again widened. "You are so young and yet you managed to grasp such a complex dao fragment. That girl shouldn't be so strong. You harvested her future even after she died."
The necromancer remained silent. He was visibly not in a good condition. He looked ragged and bony. It was clear that he was completely exhausted from inside out. However, determination shone in his eyes as he eyed the prize.
The blade of grass swayed gently beside him, completely untouched by the violent battle that had just shaken the valley.
For a few seconds, neither of them moved.
Then Kael spoke again. "You are no match for me. It is better you leave now."
Necrogod did not say anything.
Kael again insisted. "I have no interest in fighting someone weaker than me. Scram."
"No. I will not." Necrogod answered this time.
"I will not say this again. Leave. You are not strong now but you will become a worthy opponent in the future. I will look forward to our fight then. For now, you should simply leave."
Necrogod still stood resolutely.
"LEAVE!" Kael snarled and this time the draconic phantom behind him roared. Several weaker beings collapsed instantly, unable to withstand the pressure. Even some of the elites hovering in the sky were forced to raise barriers around themselves.
Necrogod's thin frame swayed. Blood trickled from his mouth and nose. He was just a hair away from collapsing and yet he refused to budge.
"Why?" Kael snarled but he did not wait for a response this time. With an angry snort, he stepped forward.
The ground cracked beneath his foot as his draconic aura surged again. Golden light wrapped around his arm as he raised his fist, clearly intending to end the matter in a single strike.
Necrogod did not move. He simply closed his eyes. The blade of grass beside him swayed gently in the wind.
Kael's fist thrust forward carrying along with it an immense amount of earth shattering power. Nothing could possibly stand in front of such an attack. There was no way Necrogod could survive something like this.
Only the mysterious blade of grass had the ability to stay standing after this sort of devastation.
Kael hoped that the lunatic would atleast save his ass at the last second but nothing of that sort happened. Until the last second, Necrogod stood still, unwilling to budge. He could see dark energy wrapping around him in a feeble attempt to protect himself but that was in no way enough.
Kael sighed. He was looking forward to a strong future opponent. Now he was disappointed. 'Truly a waste.' He sighed again and was about to shift his focus to the blade of grass when suddenly his entire body became rigid. Draconic scales covered him from top to bottom just as a sea of red appeared in front of him abruptly.
