Necrogod is summoned by a girl named Ruby who needs his help. While initially reluctant, he agrees to go with her as she claims to know how to remove his unholy core. After being led to a forest, Necrogod discovers he has lost all his powers and connection to his undead, leaving him vulnerable when a beast attacks.

Ruby, initially perceived as a lovely and vivacious young schoolgirl by Necrogod, transformed before his eyes. Her usual cheerful demeanor was replaced by an entirely different presence, marked by a lowered posture and precise movements that exuded a sharp, lethal calm, a stark contrast to the giggling girl who had led him moments earlier.

As a massive beast lunged, jaws snapping with a roar, Ruby moved with astonishing speed, like a streak of silver lightning. A flash of brilliant sword aura heralded her action. Necrogod's eyes widened in surprise.

With a swift, clean arc of her blade, a thin silver line appeared on the beast's neck. For a moment, there was stillness, then blood erupted, and the colossal creature collapsed with a heavy thud, leaving the forest in silence. Necrogod blinked, uttering, "Okay..." This was far beyond his expectations.

Ruby exhaled gently, flicking her blade to shed the blood before making it vanish. The intense aura surrounding her instantly dissipated, and the bubbly girl returned. She turned to Necrogod with a beaming smile. "Don't worry. We'll cure you soon, and you'll be able to fight like me too."

Necrogod observed her for a moment before nodding. Her sincerity was evident; she truly wished to help. Wasting no more time, they pressed onward into the forest. Ruby effortlessly dispatched more beasts they encountered. Though Necrogod, not being a sword user himself, couldn't fully gauge the depth of her skills, he recognized they were far from ordinary.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Ruby suddenly asked, a faint, shy smile playing on her lips as she glanced down. "It's as if you've never seen me fight before." Necrogod awkwardly scratched his head. "Uh… yeah… you're… really skilled today," he stammered, offering the first words that came to mind.

Ruby let out a soft giggle. "Stop teasing me, you jerk. I might be decent, but I'll never be as good as you." Before he could reply, she stepped forward and embraced him.

Necrogod froze, his mind going blank for a second. Then, before he could even comprehend the situation, she leaned in and pressed her lips against his. He stood there, utterly stunned. This was entirely new territory. He had witnessed countless battlefields littered with corpses, commanded legions of the undead, and confronted monsters, emperors, and beings of incomprehensible power.

But this? He was completely inexperienced. After a few moments, Ruby slowly pulled back, her face flushed. She avoided his gaze, looking down at the ground and fidgeting slightly. "Idiot," she muttered softly. "Usually, you're the one coming onto me. What happened today? Are you not interested in me anymore?" she pouted.

Necrogod remained frozen, his mouth opening and closing without words. Ruby glanced at him briefly, then looked away again, clearly embarrassed as the moment passed. "Well?" she mumbled, still not meeting his eyes. "At least say something." Necrogod knew he had to respond to avoid profound awkwardness. Just as he was about to blurt something out, images and memories flooded his mind.

He saw an infant cooing and playing, followed by a young girl laughing joyfully as she ran through a sunlit courtyard. These memories didn't feel like observations; they felt lived. A tiny hand gripping his finger, a childish voice calling his name. The world seemed to shimmer for an instant. Another image surfaced: a slightly older girl stubbornly wielding a wooden sword too large for her, swinging it clumsily, falling, and getting back up. "I'll become strong too! Just like you!"

More memories followed: training grounds, shared laughter, petty arguments, a girl pouting after a loss, another beaming after landing a hit, a girl gazing at him with unwavering trust. Necrogod staggered slightly. Love. An overwhelming abundance of love and warmth emanated from these recollections. This girl was the very essence of whoever he was now. They lived and breathed for each other.

Ruby noticed the shift in him immediately. Her embarrassment transformed into concern. "Hey," she said softly, stepping closer. "What's wrong? Are you hurt somewhere?"

Once more, Necrogod readied his words, but abruptly stopped, a wave of confusion washing over him. 'Nether?' Was he really detecting the presence of nether emanating from her? 'What in the blazes?' he questioned internally. He swiftly spun her around, his gaze falling upon her back, and his eyes widened in sheer astonishment. A small scratch, barely noticeable, adorned her skin, and from it, wisps of dark energy were slowly escaping.

Necrogod's pupils constricted. It was undoubtedly nether; there was no room for doubt. Though faint and impure, it was unmistakably… nether. 'What in the actual hell…?' he whispered, almost to himself.

Ruby flinched a little at the sudden movement, yet she offered no resistance. 'Hey! What are you doing?' she protested, attempting to twist her head to see. 'It's just a little scratch…'

Necrogod's hold intensified. 'Remain still.'

Noticing his unyielding seriousness, Ruby ceased her protests and quietly obeyed.

Necrogod drew nearer, his intense focus fixed on the minor injury on her back. To a casual observer, it appeared entirely innocuous—a superficial cut, perhaps sustained during a recent skirmish. The critical issue, however, was the nascent nether that was seeping from it.

His expression grew grim. As an adept nether user, how could he have missed this crucial detail earlier? He had witnessed such occurrences numerous times, and the grim implications were now becoming clear.
