Damon desperately transferred stats to Necrogod using blood essence as memory storms closed in, yielding only minor gains in vitality, strength, and agility. Refusing to abandon him despite the peril, Damon made Necrogod his follower, dramatically boosting his attributes to 50 across the board and flinging him into a colosseum arena. Chained and facing a colossal monster, Necrogod confirmed his necromancy endured but suffered an immediate brutal counterattack amid the cheering crowd.

With a bitter smile, Necrogod gazed at the demon. Countless events had unfolded, and ultimately, Blood God had somehow yanked him back from death's edge with an impossible miracle, yet... he was doomed to perish once more.

That legendary staff wouldn't have failed him if only... It was his anchor. His crown. His supreme trump card. Devoid of it, he amounted to nothing more than a vulnerable necromancer on profane soil.

Was survival still possible somehow? His sight grew hazy. His chest seared with pain. His mana reserves drained like a shattered container, emptying quicker than he could restore them. Still... Necrogod gritted his teeth. Surrender was not an option. He drove the staff's base into the arid earth. Shadows exploded outward. Necromantic sigils blazed to life one after another encircling him. From under the dunes, bony fingers scraped upward. Fractured ribcages. Shattered craniums. Incomplete undead hauled themselves into being. "Come on…" Necrogod rasped. "Move… move… move!"

Mana surged from him wildly, unchecked. Fire scorched his veins. Blood dripped from his mouth's edge, staining the sand.

This effort clearly fell short. His real ace needed unleashing. The earth trembled fiercely. A huge summoning array etched itself below him, drawing straight from his life force. Years, even decades, vanished in a flash. Luster faded from his hair. His flesh turned ashen and clung taut to his skeleton.

Gasping for air, Necrogod teetered on the brink of forsaking his humanity, but it mattered not. Sight narrowing to a tunnel, fierce hope sparked in his gaze. If this succeeds... just endure a bit longer... A twisted smirk crossed his lips as the summoning took hold.

Behind him, a colossal entity ascended, ancient and vastly more perilous than the soulless minions he typically controlled. The atmosphere chilled to the bone. The very ground shadowed over, marked by primordial demise.

The summoning ring exploded in a ferocious blast of ebony radiance. From its heart, a gauntleted fist emerged. No bare bones or decay marred it. Unlike his typical stitched-together summons.

An armored undead it was. Jagged black steel plates bore archaic runes. Another fist followed. Then a helmet. With fluid, purposeful grace, the undead extricated itself from the array, rising like from a royal seat rather than clawing from a tomb. Towering grandly, it rivaled the demon in every way.

A ragged black cloak draped its shoulders, still amid the gusts. Scars and burns marred its armor from countless wars. Empty sockets glowed with icy blue fire, chilling all who met its stare. A enormous greatsword gripped in its right fist.

Laughing raggedly, Necrogod clung to life by a thread. "I… command you… my death knight…" he croaked faintly. "Stand… with me… and kill for me."

The demon snorted irritably, unimpressed by the newcomer. It lunged its spare hand ahead, smashing toward Necrogod. A mighty shockwave blasted forth, barreling at the feeble form, yet the death knight materialized before him.

The colossal greatsword arced downward effortlessly, cleaving the oncoming shockwave neatly in two like hitting an unseen barrier. Earth on both flanks burst apart in paired furrows, etching scores of meters deep. Necrogod stood unscathed.

Silence gripped the colosseum spectators briefly. Such a reversal stunned them all. Fury boiled in the demon. It bellowed and rushed in, clashing savagely with the death knight.

Every strike unleashed devastation everywhere. The colosseum floor shook violently. Pandemonium seized the audience. None foresaw the wretched slave's prowess. Yet the crowd soured, faces twisting in furious letdown rather than joy.

Particularly the man enthroned on a massive seat overlooking the arena. He lifted his hand wordlessly; the nearby guard bowed low. Orders flew swiftly down the chain. Moments later, thunderous clamor filled the colosseum.

Despite the raging battle, the arena portals creaked open!

Stone grinding stone overwhelmed even weapon clashes. Necrogod whipped his head toward the gates. Hope fled his expression instantly. Five enormous demons poured out.

The lead demon dwarfed the one battling his Death Knight. Bone armor sheathed it, ribs jutting like daggers. Backward-curving horns sprouted from a skull-helm melded to its skin.

Next came another on all fours, spine ridged with pulsing red bulbs throbbing like infected hearts. Followed by a third. A fourth. A fifth. Five demons joined the fray.

The spectators bellowed triumphantly. This spectacle thrilled them from the start. No underdog tales or wonders for them. Pure carnage was their craving.

Necrogod's gut twisted. "…No," he muttered weakly. His Death Knight could handle one, perhaps two, but six? Impossible, he knew.

Defeat loomed inevitable. After everything... death awaited still. Necrogod's fist balled tight, body quivering. Uselessness gnawed at him. Overreliance on that single legendary artifact had crippled him. Given another shot... he'd change it all.

Regrettably, no more do-overs seemed likely. This memory realm left him isolated. Birth and death, solely his burden. Eyes shut as an assault neared. Blinding red aura ignited.

This ended it. He embraced doom as the strike hammered his frame with irresistible might. The blow shredded through him like a raging tempest. It demolished every part utterly. Then....

Necrogod's eyes snapped wide in bewilderment.

A system notification blazed before him.

[Ding! You have gained +37 Strength]

[Ding! You have gained +53 Agility]

[Ding! You have gained +49 Vitality]

His ravaged form surged with vigor abruptly. Fatigue, weariness, debility—all evaporated instantly. Potent life force and revitalizing mana churned within.

"How… I… " Necrogod reeled in disbelief. A known voice then jolted him alert.

"Hey there, kid. It looks like we finally caught a lucky break. Who would have thought we would actually run into a god damn loophole! A beautiful big one!" Damon grinned ear to ear as he walked into the arena from the other side.
