SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God Chapter 680 Should I intervene?

Previously on SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God...
After organizing his allies and family within the Blood Domain, Damon prepares to focus on his own personal growth and guild management. While most of his inner circle settles into non-combat roles or administrative duties, the assassin known as the Third is caught hiding from noble vampiresses he harassed under the guise of following Damon's example. Despite the domestic peace, Damon remains acutely aware that his presence puts his loved ones in the crosshairs of powerful enemies and looming global threats. Determined to protect them, he resolves to spend the next two days training in the dangerous wilderness to break through his current power bottleneck.

As several hours passed, the once-silent clearing grew bustling and vibrant. One by one, everyone returned to the camp to take a brief intermission before continuing their rigorous training.

Emerging first from the dense woods were Aurora, Kate, and Lirae. "Lunch has arrived!" Aurora declared with a proud grin. From her inventory, she produced the massive carcass of a mutated, six-eyed stag, its spine bristling with jagged bone protrusions. The heavy beast hit the earth with a resounding thud, splitting a nearby stone under its immense weight.

"Mother, have you ever prepared a creature like this? I believe using this meat will grant you a massive amount of experience and skill points!" Aurora said, her face beaming with excitement.

Damon’s mother stood as still as a statue, looking as though she had been handed a ticking explosive. Her gaze traveled up the grotesque mountain of sinew and bone, pausing on the additional eyes and the serrated antlers that remained lethally sharp even in death.

Swallowing hard, she managed to speak. "I… No, dear. I have never cooked… something like that."

Standing behind her, Damon’s father muttered under his breath, "It looks like it's still breathing…"

Noticing the hesitation, Kate stepped forward to assist. "I can help you dress the carcass and butcher it, mother. I’ve also brought some different beast meat for you to use."

Damon’s mother exhaled a sigh of relief, grateful for the girl’s intervention. However, a moment later, Kate reached into her own inventory. With the nonchalant air of someone grabbing groceries, she dropped a second corpse next to the first. This creature was a colossal boar-like beast, sporting tusks of crystallized mana and a hide that resembled thick armor plating.

The impact shook the ground. Damon’s mother recoiled a step, while his father retreated two.

Aurora clapped her hands in delight. "Excellent! Now we have a beginner-level monster and an intermediate-level monster to practice your cooking skills on!"

"Beginner?" Damon’s mother repeated faintly, her eyes fixed on the six-eyed monstrosity.

Aurora nodded with a sage expression. "I barely had to expend any mana to strike it down, mother."

Lirae, who had been watching the exchange in silence, stepped forward with a serious and dignified air. "I also bring a tribute." She pulled a delicately wrapped bundle from her storage and set it beside the other two carcasses.

The bundle unfurled to reveal a third beast: a sleek, predatory panther with three tails and veins that glowed with a faint red light.

Damon’s mother let out a tiny, high-pitched squeak.

Damon’s father whispered, "…I’m fairly certain its fur is still twitching."

Lirae offered a bow. "The blood remains warm. Its heart ceased its rhythm only moments ago. The flavor should be at its absolute peak."

Covering her mouth, Damon’s mother gave a weak nod. "Y-yes… it is very… fresh."

Aurora leaned closer, a bright smile on her face. "How can I assist, mother? Which part should I begin carving? Would you like me to prepare the meat or the vegetables first?"

Kate stepped in eagerly, her palms already shimmering with mana as if she were preparing for a surgical procedure rather than a meal. "Mother, I can tenderize the flesh, slice it, or drain the blood. Simply give the word."

"I am capable of deboning it," Lirae added quickly, her expression full of anticipation.

Aurora chimed in again, bouncing on her heels like a student desperate for the teacher’s attention. "And I can handle the vegetables! And the monster! And the spices! And the monster again if you need!"

Damon’s mother stared at the trio. Aurora was practically vibrating with a sort of murderous zeal, Kate was wielding a glowing blade of blood like a master butcher, and Lirae looked ready to perform a holy culinary rite.

She swallowed repeatedly. She was accustomed to Georgina, who didn't care at all about kitchen matters—someone who would char rice to a crisp and then blame the pot for being too sensitive.

Back then, Damon’s mother had to constantly argue just to get her into the kitchen at all.

But this? This was the polar opposite. These were three incredibly powerful women, each terrifying in her own right, waiting for her commands with stars in their eyes. Did they truly want to help her? She couldn't fathom what was happening.

She cast a desperate, pleading look toward Damon, but he had already made a tactical retreat, pretending to be deeply interested in a nearby tree. His mother’s eye twitched with irritation.

"Mother, tell me my task! I want to be useful!" Aurora urged, leaning in.

Kate nodded in agreement. "Please give us your instructions. We stand ready."

"Command us, elder matriarch," Lirae said with a bow.

Damon’s mother nearly choked. His father approached her slowly, placing a steadying hand on her shoulder. "Honey…" he said softly, "just go along with it. Don't let it stress you out."

She immediately snapped her head around to glare at him. She was certain he was enjoying her predicament, and she refused to give him the satisfaction!

Straightening her posture, she wiped her hands on her apron and forced a smile born of equal parts bravery and survival instinct. "O-Okay… let’s begin by taking small thin slices of the meat. I need to determine which cooking style best suits each beast."

The three women brightened instantly, as if they had just received a divine revelation.

"Yes, Mother!" "Yes, ma'am!" "As you command, Matriarch."

Damon’s mother froze at the title. Matriarch?? But before she could offer a correction, the three enthusiastic women burst into motion.

Aurora, wearing a smile far too cheerful for someone standing over a corpse, manifested a pitch-black cleaver that hummed with dark mana. "Small slices! Understood! I shall produce the most flawless slices in human history." She raised the blade dramatically and began her work.

Kate used a slender blade made of blood and started processing her beast.

Lirae approached the panther-like creature with a sense of ritualistic respect, her hands glowing with crimson sigils. "I shall extract the bones without damaging a single vessel. The marrow contains essence; wasting it would be a sin." She bowed her head toward the carcass. "May your remains provide strength to our family."

Damon’s father cleared his throat. "Why does it sound like she’s conducting a funeral?"

Damon’s mother, however, was far too overwhelmed to respond. Three monstrous bodies. Three overpowered women. Three distinct, weaponized butchery styles. And all of them were watching her as if she were a legendary master chef.

She could only cast helpless glances at her unfilial son, who continued to ignore her plight.

Damon chuckled softly to himself. "Perhaps I should step in…" He mused, but he hesitated, procrastinating for a few moments. When he finally looked back, the atmosphere had shifted entirely.

Damon blinked in surprise. All the previous tension and awkwardness had vanished.

Aurora was kneeling beside his mother, carefully fanning the fire with a gentle breeze. Kate was meticulously laying out meat slices on a flat stone heated by precise flame magic. Lirae was stirring a cauldron with a wooden spoon, her face solemn as if she were mixing the components of an ancient spell.

In the center of it all sat Damon’s mother, surrounded by perfectly prepared ingredients, barking out orders like she had been training these women since they were children.

"Kate, those slices for the stew need to be thinner. That cut is far too tough."

"Yes, Mother," Kate replied, immediately refining her technique.

"Aurora, maintain a steady heat. Do not let it scorch."

"Understood! Perfect stability!" Aurora beamed, adjusting her mana control with obedience.

"Lirae, stir more slowly. You are releasing the spice essence too fast."

Lirae bowed low. "My apologies, Matri… uh… Mother."

Damon’s mother gave a nod of approval, tossing herbs into the pot with a flourish that suggested a professional level of skill. She appeared remarkably proud and confident, like a tamer who had successfully broken three apex predators and turned them into sous-chefs.

"She looks… actually happy," Damon whispered.

"Of course she is. Just look at her checking her system interface every few seconds. She must be racking up incredible skill points," his father remarked, his voice tinged with envy. He shook his head and sighed. "At this pace, she’s going to leave me in the dust. She’ll become some overpowered high-level expert and lord it over me forever. Hmph. That woman! Her luck is always so infuriatingly good!"

Damon stood there, bewildered. Only minutes ago, she had looked ready to collapse. Now, she was commanding a master-class kitchen. His father caught his gaze and smirked. "Your mother has always been quick to adapt."
