The protagonist navigated a room, disabling two hidden traps by pulling levers disguised as wall trimmings. He retrieved a wooden token, suspecting it was a depleted artifact requiring a spirit stone to activate. He then discovered a stone shard emitting a unique energy, similar to divine energy but seemingly from immortals, raising questions about the manor's owner and the existence of immortals.

Just staring at the shard and wondering wasn’t going to give me any more information, so I put the shard away in the end.

This was certainly something that I had to examine in more detail in the future, but this wasn’t the place for it.

If I was going to do this, I would use all of the equipment that Max created.

That was used to analyze things that had divine energy and corruption energy, but I felt that it should work in this case.

"Immortal energy should be close enough to divine energy." That was the assumption that I made.

Though it wasn’t as if I could use my divine energy to resonate with this immortal energy.

Once I put away the stone shard, I didn’t waste any time heading to the second location.

However, I did take one last look at this room to see if there was anything else that was hidden here. This stone shard that had a trace of immortal energy inside of it was without a doubt an unexpected surprise.

But it seemed like it was just a one time event and wasn’t something that could be counted on.

When I arrived at the next room, I once again disabled the traps at the door before entering. Only this time my attention wasn’t on the thing that was placed inside of the glass.

This time, the thing that I wanted was something that was placed at the side of the room.

From its appearance alone, this looked like an ordinary bead that one could find anywhere that they wanted.

But I knew that this bead wasn’t that simple.

Though if it was taken away from this place, it would have been something that was considered completely worthless. It was only in this place that this bead served any purpose at all.

As for where it served its purpose, it was where the third and final item was found.

When I entered this third room, the purpose of the room was made very clear.

This was the workshop of the one that owned the manor, the place where they created all of their puppets and all of the mechanisms for the traps that guarded this place.

Because it was the workshop of the owner of this manor, it was why it held the treasure that I wanted.

The problem was that there was a guard that was here that I had to get past first.

But that was the reason why I went out of my way to get the second item.

As soon as I stepped into the workshop, I could hear the sounds of something activating. I didn’t even need to turn in that direction to know that this was the puppet that had been left here by the former owner of this manor to protect this place.

All I did was take out the bead that I obtained previously and tossed it in the direction the sounds came from.

The sounds didn’t stop, but it didn’t sound like they were as violent as they once were. It seemed like the one that was creating the sounds had calmed down because they saw the bead that I tossed at it.

I didn’t wait for the one making the sound to come over as I made my way to the prize.

It was something that was placed on a pedestal as if it was even being offered as a prize, but this was something that could only be taken with the approval of the one that created this place.

"I have no idea what I’m looking at."

Back in the game, this was a usable item. When the game became real life, this had been turned into an actual book.

Though that didn’t mean that this thing was useless, rather it was even more useful now since it wasn’t something that could only be used once. Since it was now an actual book, this thing could be studied by anyone that read it.

As for the knowledge that this book contained, it was what made this item a legendary grade item when it was in the game.

It was the culmination of the knowledge that the owner of this manor once possessed, the information on how to create puppets and mechanisms.

The fact that it was once a legendary item was more than enough to show just how valuable the knowledge contained within this book was.

The problem was that it wasn’t the time to read this book.

After all, there was still the guard that I had to worry about.

It was much easier to deal with the guard in the game since tossing the bead actually made it despawn. But in this case, it wasn’t as if the guard was going to disappear just because it received the bead.

In this case, I had to actually deal with the guard.

But when I turned back around to look at it, I found that it was on one knee and had bowed its head to me. The way that it bowed to me was almost as if it was showing me respect and acknowledging me.

"Registration complete. Chun pays respects to the new master."

"Huh?" I couldn’t help being caught off guard by this, but I knew what was happening.

After all, the description for the bead when this world was still a game showed that it was the item that allowed one to be recognized as the master of the puppets. So it seemed like this was indeed what had happened after I tossed the bead to this puppet guard.

But seeing the puppet guard for the first time, it really was a surprise.

"It’s another maid..."

Whoever the owner of this manor had been, it was clear that he had peculiar tastes if even the guard was a maid puppet.

However, it was a puppet that could talk.

"Do you know what happened to the previous owner of this manor?"

In the end, I couldn’t help letting my curiosity get the better of me.
