A member of the ruling class was observed acting suspiciously near a guarded, pillar-less structure. The protagonist followed, discovering it to be a potential energy storage facility or failsafe. The ruling-class individual greedily absorbed energy from a central pillar, revealing a fear of those above them, suggesting they were part of the younger generation.

Once again, I had no idea what I was looking at.

This was just the difference in aesthetics between races, but I had thought that I had gotten better after seeing the city of the rock creatures.

In the end, it turned out that I still had no idea what I was looking at.

The only thing that I knew was that these buildings were actual buildings that were meant to live in. They were completely different from the buildings outside that were nothing more than collection points used by the ruling class for bringing in their energy.

These were buildings that were properly meant to live in.

Though looking closely, I could tell that some of these buildings were just shops that were open for the ruling class.

However, it wasn’t as if they actually paid money to get the things in the shops.

It was nothing more than a kind of play for them where they pretended like they were shopping.

There were other bipedal creatures just like the one that I was following walking along this shopping street. It wasn’t as if any of them actually paid for the things that they took, they just grabbed whatever they wanted and took it with them.

The ones that were working in the store were the animals filled with the parasites.

But in reality, they were just there to fill the space that would have seemed empty without people working there. After all, it wasn’t as if they were even taking money or anything for the items.

They were just there for the ruling class to push around.

The young bipedal creature that I was following seemed to have a pretty high status with the way that the other bipedal creatures were treating it. Even though they were all from the same ruling class, it was clear that this one’s status was higher than the rest.

It was appropriate to call the one that I was following a young master more than anything else.

But this young master didn’t seem to care about the way that the others around him were treating him. It seemed like he already had a destination in mind and was completely focused on reaching that destination.

Still, it wasn’t as if there was anyone that was willing to step in and stop him.

With everyone clearing the way, I was able to observe the actions of the ruling class even more.

It wasn’t as if I understood what they were saying since it was a strange series of sounds that came out of their mouths, but their actions were more than enough for me to understand what they meant with these words.

"They’re nothing more than slaves."

That was the only way that I could describe it with how they were treating the animals controlled by the parasite. Though it seemed like they went even further than just treating them as simple slaves.

After all, I could see the corpses of the animals that were hidden in the darker alleys.

This ruling class didn’t seem to have any qualms about causing physical harm or even killing the animals that served them.

At this point, it seemed like they had completely lost themselves in their arrogance.

"Perhaps that’s just how it is with races that don’t have any competitors. It isn’t as if they have anything to fear, they just do whatever they want since they consider it their divine right."

Following the young master for a bit, we finally arrived at what seemed to be quite the popular place with how many of the bipedal creatures were going in and out of it.

When he arrived, they still treated him the same way even though there were more of them now. It seemed like my earlier conjecture was wrong, this young master’s status was much higher than I thought.

"If it wasn’t this high, would it have dared to go out and steal the energy from that place?" I couldn’t help shaking my head with a bitter smile as this thought passed through my mind.

The young master made its way through the building where all kinds of strange things were happening. The bipedal creatures that were in this place were gathered in groups and seemed to be doing things that I didn’t understand.

But with the way that they acted around each other, there was one thing that I was able to figure out.

"This is a casino."

It seemed like those races that lost themselves to arrogance like this always ended up doing things that were debaucherous like this.

The young master just made its way over to one of the private rooms where there were others that were waiting for it. From the way that they acted around it, it seemed like they were finally around the same level as it.

In fact, it seemed like they might even rank higher than it with how they were treating it.

Once the young master made its way into the room, it sat down and took out a few things that it had been hiding. After it took these things that looked like tubes out, the eyes of the others all lit up.

None of them wasted any time as they took the tubes that the young master took out.

Without any hesitation, they raised those tubes and stabbed them into themselves.

As soon as this happened, there were looks of bliss that appeared on their faces.

I had already guessed that this was the case, but seeing it firsthand still made me mutter something, "So it was drugs after all. I guess there’s no hope for the younger generation of this race."

But of course, there was no way that they could have heard me since I had all those spells around me.

Once I figured out that they were just doing drugs, I wasn’t interested in these young members of the ruling class.

After all, the aura that they gave off showed that they weren’t considered area bosses at all.

The ones that I was after were still in different parts of this city.
