"What are these things?"
No matter how I looked at the loot that dropped, I had no idea what I was even looking at.
It really was hard to tell what I was looking at since these things had shapes that I had never seen before.
Though from what I could see, it seemed to be the materials from the worm that I had cut down. It seemed like the large part of it was the skin of the worm.
Holding this skin, I started playing around with it to see if there was anything that it could be used for. While playing with it, I could tell just how elastic this skin was and at the same time, it didn’t seem like the defenses of this skin was that weak.
"Perhaps this thing could be used for some kind of armour." I said to myself as I played with the skin.
Other than that, I could tell that the other parts of the worm that had been dropped might also be used in other things. Which was why I put them away so that I could hand them over to the researchers later.
Once I was done looking over the loot that dropped, I didn’t hesitate to send the divine energy into the ground.
It wasn’t as if I had never sent the divine energy into the ground before this, it was just that there wasn’t much that had been there.
There were a few tunnels that were there in the ground, but I didn’t think too much about those. After all, it was only natural that there would be these tunnels that formed in the ground from animals digging around.
But this time, I knew that these weren’t simple tunnels.
These were most likely the tunnels that the worms had used to move around.
It was surprising to find that the creatures of this strange world lived under the ground, but it wasn’t as if it was that strange. This was a world that I didn’t have any idea about, so naturally I shouldn’t just use what I knew to judge this world.
This was a world that I had to be open minded towards and judge with what I found rather than with my bias.
It was just that the deeper that I went, the more that I realized how complicated this tunnel system was.
I was already expecting a tunnel system to exist in this place, but it was far more complicated than I thought it would be. There were countless tunnels that were leading in every single direction, so it was impossible for me to follow each and every one of them.
Not to mention that the deeper that I went, the tunnels actually became bigger.
"These aren’t tunnels that are just used by these worms, these are tunnels that are clearly being used by things bigger than these worms."
It seemed that by discovering the worms, I had only scratched the surface of this underground society. If I wanted to learn more about the creatures that lived in this place, then I would have to go deep into the ground.
Which was why I pulled out the Staff of Earth.
Though before putting it on the ground, there was a part of me that couldn’t help hesitating over whether to use this Staff of Earth or not. There was no telling if the Staff of Earth would even recognize the ground in this place was part of its dominion.
But it turned out that I had been worried for nothing.
With the Staff of Earth, I was able to easily control the ground and made it split apart for me.
It was easy to dig down to the large tunnels that were there, but I couldn’t help being amazed by how big these tunnels became in the end. At the same time, I was impressed by how deep this place was.
These tunnels were clearly arranged for something that was more than double my height or it was made for transporting large amounts of things to different places.
If I had to guess, it was most likely the former rather than the latter.
After all, there were signs in this tunnel that showed that there were things that had passed through this place.
From those signs, it wasn’t hard to tell that there was some kind of intelligent being that lived in this place.
Only from these traces alone, I really had no idea what they would look like.
Though there was one thing that I was able to figure out by studying the marks that were on the wall.
"It seems like there’s something being dragged in this direction?" I couldn’t help sending out the divine energy when I realized this, but I found that there was nothing there.
It seemed like whatever had come this way had traveled a long distance away from this place. Or else there was something that was blocking me from finding them...but I very much doubted that this was the case.
If they were able to resist divine energy, then they would be creatures on a completely different level.
So I continued forward in hopes of finding some kind of intelligent life.
It actually didn’t take long for me to find what I was looking for, but I certainly didn’t expect something like this.
It wasn’t exactly a humanoid creature.
Rather, it seemed like some sort of pencil with how its body was shaped.
It was as if it was made of sharp sticks with how each limb was thin and long, with sharp tips at the end. This creature was completely different from humans that had soft flesh, these things had hard skin that seemed to be made of rock.
This thing did have two arms and legs along with a head like a human, but their shape was far from being close to what a human would be.
"So it’s a creature that’s made of crystallized minerals?"
