The protagonist and his allies attempted to destroy a corruption energy spike with their strongest attacks, but the spike proved incredibly resilient, barely sustaining minor dents. Even with combined efforts, they could only chip away at it with great difficulty. As their energy waned, two more identical spikes appeared, leaving the group in despair over how to handle the escalating threat.
The appearance of these spikes created a truly dire predicament. Their origin was unknown, indicating a loss of initiative against the forces of Destruction. Whatever these spikes were intended for, it was undeniably sinister, given they were forged from corruption energy and planted in the earth. Their purpose was undoubtedly precise. However, a sliver of solace was found in the fact that the spikes remained inert for the moment. Utilizing our domains, we scanned the area surrounding the spikes, confirming their dormancy. This suggested they awaited a specific activation. Naturally, none of us were content to simply wait for this activation. Who knew what havoc they would unleash once active... After a prolonged silence, a voice broke the quiet with a suggestion. "What if we sealed it?" As the words left their lips, all eyes turned toward the speaker. I confess, I was taken aback; I hadn't anticipated such a proposal from this particular individual, yet their resolve was evident before they even spoke. This implied they already had a specific seal in mind. "What do you require of us?" The saintess paused, her gaze fixed upon the corruption energy spike embedded in the ground. She then began to circle the area, seemingly searching for precise locations to place the components for the seal. It was not difficult to deduce that these actions were in preparation for the seal she intended to enact. I, however, remained uncertain about the specific materials she planned to use for its construction. In a rather unexpected turn, the saintess then consulted with Max regarding the seal. As she elaborated, it became clear this was a technique originating from the Holy Empire, likely a closely guarded secret passed down through generations, not typically shared with outsiders. Its original intended use, however, was against demons and similar entities. Max’s face lit up with excitement as he listened to her explanation, suggesting the saintess's proposed seal held significant potential for success. Upon hearing the full description, Max offered a few modifications. This seal was designed for holy magic, not the direct application of divine energy. Consequently, adjustments were necessary to align it with divine energy. One could not help but acknowledge Max's brilliance when it came to matters of divine energy. He swiftly devised a method to adapt the seal for use with this power. The saintess offered no resistance, as this was precisely why she had sought his counsel. She recognized his superior knowledge of divine energy and entrusted the adaptation to him. Once their discussion concluded, they both turned their attention to me. Initially, I was unsure what was expected, but the realization soon dawned. Without a word, I raised my hand and began conjuring daggers using my domain. Given the seal's reliance on divine energy, suitable materials were essential. The divine energy daggers I could create were the most fitting components. Upon their completion, they were taken and positioned around the spike. At intervals, holes were dug, and a dagger was placed within. The arrangement of these daggers around the spike clearly indicated the formation of some sort of sealing array. With the final dagger in place, it was time for the saintess to initiate the activation sequence. The daggers were positioned, but a catalyst was needed for the seal to manifest. This catalyst was provided by the saintess, though her method was peculiar. Assuming her position, the saintess suddenly knelt and began to pray. As she did so, a response emanated from the daggers embedded in the ground. They flared to life, projecting beams of light that connected with the other daggers. These luminous connections formed a pattern within the earth, encircling the corruption energy spike. Once all daggers were linked, the emitted light surged upward, coalescing into a barrier around the corruption energy spike. However, 'barrier' hardly captured the phenomenon, as these structures didn't remain static walls. They transformed into flexible forms, akin to parchment, which then enshrouded the corruption energy spike itself. It appeared, however, that the daggers weren't reacting to the surge of corrupted energy. Once the corruption energy spike concluded, a brilliant flash momentarily illuminated the area before vanishing entirely. Had one not been observing closely, the successful deployment of the seal would have gone unnoticed. The saintess rose to her feet once more and declared, "It is complete." Though some regarded her with questioning eyes, I harbored no doubts about the efficacy of the seal she had fashioned. After all, I was the very craftsman of the daggers that formed this seal; its intricate workings and connections were intimately familiar to me.
