Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2208: Successor (2)

"To begin with, that child was never a simple mortal."
The way that Aquaron said this did piss me off a little.
After all, the way that he said this was as if this was a natural fact that everyone should know.
I narrowed my eyes to glare at him, but he just continued at his own pace as he continued to speak.
The one thing that did catch me off guard was when he suddenly looked at me.
Since I was able to see his true appearance now, I could see that there was a strange look that was in his eyes as he looked at me. This was a look that was completely different from any of the other sides that I had seen from him before.
It was as if he was interested in me, but not in a normal way.
If I had to describe it, it was almost as if he was interested in some kind of experiment.
As he stared at me like this, he said, "You can’t really be considered a mortal right now and you’re the father of this child. Since that’s the case, it really is hard to say that this child is a simple mortal."
There was a part of me that was angered by this once again, but I did hold back.
Instead, I just calmly said, "I’m still a mortal."
Aquaron nodded as if he was agreeing to this before saying, "Right now you are a mortal, but there’s no telling what will happen in the future. With the bloodline of the mermaids that came from my creation and your bloodline, it will be hard to tell what this child will become in the future."
Then in a more serious tone of voice, "There’s no telling how dangerous he could become, which is why it’s best that someone watches over him."
"Are you serious about this?" There was a trace of coldness that filled my voice when I heard him say this.
After all, he was basically saying that my child was dangerous.
This was a hard thing to hear for any parent...even if I knew that this was the truth.
It was just like the other children that I had, they all showed special powers. However, if those powers were used in a different way, it was impossible to say that they weren’t dangerous.
If they wanted to use those powers to harm people, then it was hard to say what would happen.
So it wasn’t as if I didn’t understand where he was coming from, it was just still hard to listen to as a parent.
However, it didn’t seem like Aquaron or any of the other gods minded how I talked to him.
In fact, it seemed like they just completely ignored it even though it should have been something that ticked them off. They were subordinates of Aquaron and I was talking to their boss like this...
Regardless, Aquaron just calmly said, "Like I’ve said, there really is no one that’s better suited to being my successor than this child. It is a title that will protect this child if anything were to happen, so it’s not as if it’s a bad thing."
The tone in Aquaron’s voice had changed when he said this.
It was as if he had taken a step back because of what I said and he was now trying to convince me that this was a good thing.
No matter how he said this, there was a part of me that was against this.
However, it was a lie to say that I wasn’t a bit moved because of his words.
After all, there was what happened with the two elven children...
If there was something like this for them, then they certainly would have had it much easier.
Though in this child’s case, it wasn’t as if there was anyone that would have said anything.
Ariel was the only child of the Merman King and it wasn’t as if this child hadn’t been born with a tail. So in terms of being accepted by the Merman Kingdom, there was no problem at all.
When I passed through the city, I had even seen the preparations that they made to celebrate the birth of this new prince.
In the end, I knew that it wasn’t as if I could stop Aquaron.
With a sigh, I said, "Do it in moderation."
Aquaron gave a simple nod, even ignoring the fact that saying this made it seem like I was an equal to him. Or even above him with the way that I addressed these words to him.
Since that matter was solved, the only thing left to do was to return to the mortal plane.
Only before returning, I made sure to glare at the gods as if I was threatening them not to do anything else that they shouldn’t do.
What I didn’t know was that these gods had a little conversation after I left.
"Lord Aquaron, do you really think that this is the right thing to do?"
Aestum was the one that asked this.
During this time, Aestum had been hiding among the other gods since there was still that awkward situation from before.
Aquaron’s expression became serious for a moment after this was asked, but then it relaxed as he said, "We all know why we have to do this and it’s not as if it’s a bad thing. So just let things go the way that they’re supposed to go."
Aestum looked like they were hesitating a bit, but they nodded in agreement in the end.
Aquaron was the lord of these water gods, so whatever he said was whatever they did.
Only he wasn’t as unreasonable as he seemed when he was around that person.
It was also because of this that they were willing to listen to him.
They knew that he was just doing what had to be done for all of them, so they didn’t hold anything against him.
