When War's initial attacks failed, it began to draw in surrounding corruption energy and monsters to amplify its power. War then transformed this gathered energy into an army of corrupted soldiers, forcibly recruiting souls of past defeated enemies. War ordered this new army to charge, and with a promise of freedom, the protagonist faced the overwhelming onslaught.

Although the offensive power of War had been amplified, there was one aspect that diminished.

With the increased force and mass behind its assaults, its speed and agility had consequently reduced.

This mass of corrupted energy could no longer match the swift pace that Lupus and I maintained. Thus, even with its enhanced potency, it was rendered ineffective if it couldn't connect its strikes.

Nevertheless, I remained vigilant, never letting my guard down.

I understood that if War was sacrificing speed for power, there had to be some compensatory advantage making this trade-off worthwhile. There had to be a unique aspect to this strategy.

It became apparent that this advantage stemmed from the sheer number of soldiers it commanded.

Upon charging forward, the soldiers abruptly dispersed into multiple formations.

All the soldiers moved away from War, which effectively broke up the consolidated mass of corrupted energy they formed. This, in turn, lessened the force and power behind their subsequent attacks.

However, the result was the creation of something akin to an enclosure.

In a very short span of time, it appeared as though Lupus and I were cornered within a structure orchestrated by War and its corrupted soldiers.

Yet, I could also discern a distinct difference in their coordinated movements. The way the corrupted energy soldiers maneuvered suggested they were an intrinsic part of War itself.

As if they were extensions, limbs for War to command and manipulate at its will.

This particular manifestation felt oddly familiar...

"A domain?"

From every angle I observed, it strongly resembled a domain that War had erected around us.

The pervasive spread of corrupted energy throughout this space gave the distinct impression that everything within it was under War's absolute control.

"It's not as though domains are solely the purview of deities. Those who achieve sufficient power can also manifest them."

This was certainly true in my own case, so it was logical that War would possess such an ability.

The gods themselves had previously informed me that these two more formidable members of the Four Omens possessed a power comparable to demigods. It was only fitting that War would be capable of establishing this domain.

Once this domain was established, I knew precisely what action I needed to take.

"Form."

With this single command, and simultaneously raising the orb I held, I unleashed my own domain to counteract the one War had imposed.

The moment my domain manifested, I could feel the considerable strain of resisting the domain War had established around me.

Domains represent a realm where the user wields absolute dominion over that specific space. Due to this absolute control, it's impossible for two domains to coexist concurrently within the same area.

Should two domains be deployed in the same vicinity, they inevitably clash, exerting pressure against each other until one is forcefully expelled. This process continues until the weaker domain is ultimately extinguished.

However, prior to such an outcome, a precarious equilibrium is established as the domains vie for supremacy.

"If I hadn't acquired the ability to form a domain, I would have met my end at War's hands without even comprehending my demise..."

After all, a domain grants absolute sovereignty over a domain, making the elimination of an opponent within its confines a straightforward matter. Absolute dominion inherently encompasses control over life and death.

For a domain embodying the essence of war, this would undoubtedly have been an uncomplicated feat.

This underscores the critical importance of possessing my own domain as a defensive measure.

"It appears you possess some utility after all. At the very least, this encounter promises to be engaging."

War's declaration was delivered with a casual tone, yet it was certainly qualified to make such a pronouncement.

I understood that, at the current rate of conflict, I would inevitably be overwhelmed by War's domain.

Fundamentally, the disparity in our reserves of Qi was immense. Not to mention that War additionally benefited from the bolstering presence of the surrounding corrupted energy entities.

With War drawing upon such a vast quantity of corrupted energy, confronting it directly proved exceedingly difficult.

Consequently, I was compelled to discover an alternative method to breach War's domain.

I began scrutinizing the various corrupted energy soldiers that War had conjured, searching for any discernible vulnerabilities among them. Given my own capacity to establish a domain, I recognized that a domain's inherent weakness lies in the very foundation upon which it is constructed.

This implied that if I could find a means to reach the soldiers, I should be able to achieve liberation.

"This is truly a gamble with everything on the line..." I couldn't help but reflect, yet I had no other viable option. I certainly wouldn't resign myself to awaiting death.

It happened with suddenness.

Given Lupus and my synchronized mental connection, acting in unison was a simple matter.

A solitary blade thrust forward, striking one of the soldiers present."

The soldier in question was stationed at the absolute farthest reach from the battle's front lines, a fact that ultimately facilitated our timely arrival. Not content with mere proximity, we meticulously guided the flow of the corrupting energy, ensuring its path offered the least resistance directly towards the soldier. Upon impact, the soldier was violently torn asunder by this very sword. As the life drained from its eyes, a flicker of gratitude was discernible in its final gaze directed towards me. In acknowledgement of this sentiment from the soldier, now consumed by corruption's energy, I offered a simple nod. At the very least, I managed to grant one of them a release from its suffering.
