Shota activated the Mark of God without response and ordered the magicians to release the captured dinosaurs, which fled with fear and resentment. A massive number of wood elementals then surrounded them, outnumbering previous tribes combined and emerging from surrounding plants. They thanked him for the mercy toward the dinosaurs, vital for their ecosystem, and acknowledged the prophecy of his arrival. Shota demanded to be taken to the source, met with hesitant silence before strange flower-bodied elementals approached.

As we followed the wood elementals, no particular destination appeared in sight.

Glancing around, zero landmarks presented themselves for guidance.

Still, something eventually emerged far off in the distance.

This enormous structure was impossible to overlook, yet another detail caught my eye. It radiated an aura too compelling to dismiss—divine energy pouring from it.

Furthermore, this divine energy stood apart from the ordinary kind.

It bore the attribute of creation.

This had to be the source destined for revival through my infusion of divine energy.

Getting nearer revealed something peculiar about this tree.

Up close, the anomaly became unmistakable.

Unlike sources upholding other realms, this tree didn't simply diminish as its divine energy fueled the elementals' creations.

Rather, greater consumption led to more severe withering.

Its current desiccated state screamed peril for the entire area.

The wood elementals' prior frantic actions now made perfect sense—they recognized the tree's dire crisis.

With my presence, resolution lay within reach.

Yet before touching the tree, obstructions appeared: smaller trees planted in a circular barrier around the massive central one in the wood elementals' village.

A mere glance confirmed none were ordinary.

Our escorting wood elementals advanced to address these guardian trees encircling the giant.

"Ancestor, the one from the prophecy is here."

At those words, the motionless tree guarding the giant stirred abruptly. Limbs shifted as a face materialized on its trunk.

This evoked memories of ents from my previous life.

It embodied the concept flawlessly.

A stray thought also pondered the existence of dryads nearby.

With the face complete, its gaze locked onto me, subjecting me to intense scrutiny.

The examination swept from head to toe.

Silent, I awaited its response.

"Thank you for coming. I can sense the power of the gods in you. I hope that you will be able to restore this realm."

The wood elemental ancestor spoke sparingly.

Brief words delivered, it parted to grant passage to the withered tree.

Not alone—the surrounding trees simultaneously cleared a path.

This elicited a raised eyebrow and the musing, "Are they all part of the same ancestor or are they all separate ancestors?"

Questions aside for now, I pressed through to examine the decaying colossal tree.

Passing them, distinct auras emanated from each.

That indicated separate ancestors...

"This tree really is running out of divine energy."

The verdict came swiftly before the brittle behemoth, teetering on collapse.

Urgent divine energy infusion seemed imperative.

Thus, I advanced to channel my divine energy into the withered tree.

Issue struck at contact.

"Why is this happening?"

Shock twisted my features as bark flaked from the withered tree.

Not mere touch-induced fragility, but rejection of the injected divine energy—like an instant adverse backlash.

Fortune smiled; the minor incident escaped the wood elementals' notice.

Else, pursuit would have ensued without mercy.

Undoubtedly, harming their realm's source meant no quarter given.

Still, infusion remained unfeasible this way.

"Is it because the divine energy is too strong for the withered tree to absorb? If that’s the case, then does that mean that it’s already too late to help this tree?"

Deeper reflection painted an ever-grimmer picture.

Surrender here proved unacceptable.

Deliberation yielded a plan.

"If I want to have a chance of saving this thing, then I’ll have to figure out a way to weaken my own divine energy so that it won’t harm this tree."

Resolution reached, a wry smile crept across my face.

"This is easier said than done..."
