Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2109 2109: World of water
Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
"I anticipated a frozen landscape based on our encounter with the flame elementals, but that doesn't appear to be the case here," I remarked aloud, to which everyone nodded in agreement.
Before us lay a realm dominated by water.
It could easily be described as a vast ocean, appearing entirely boundless.
The only solid ground within sight was the small shore where our entrance deposited us.
Observing this scenery, we found ourselves at a loss for where to begin our search.
Well, that wasn't entirely accurate; we had a general idea, but conducting a thorough investigation in this environment without proper equipment would be prohibitively difficult.
The mermaids would be our best candidates for assistance, though I doubted they could even reach this location.
Given that their race is sensitive to heat and requires excessive moisture, navigating past the volcanic region we had just traversed would be nearly impossible. The effort alone to bring them here would be astronomical.
"If they cannot reach us, we must request they synthesize a potent elixir or craft a magical apparatus that will permit us to traverse the depths," I murmured to myself, fixating on the endless aquatic expanse.
I could have utilized Undine's power to part these waters, but it would have been a grueling task, especially since I had no way of knowing how long it would take to locate the water elementals. Given the sheer scale of this domain, finding anything would be an arduous endeavor.
Furthermore, there was no guarantee that my mana reserves would suffice for such a prolonged duration.
Not to mention, I was reluctant to squander so much time, as relying on Undine's abilities would force me to proceed alone. I lacked the strength to facilitate the safe passage of the entire group if we were to split up.
Carrying out this search independently would surely lead to a never-ending journey…
The more I processed the situation, the more intense my headache became.
The previous regions were much simpler to navigate since the necessity of breathing was not a constant worry.
It was ironic that water, of all things, would become our greatest obstacle.
Yet, this did not mean the problem was insurmountable.
Securing the necessary resources simply required patience and time.
Still, it felt regrettable to abandon the area prematurely.
It genuinely felt as though there were tasks left unfinished before we could rightfully move on…
Driven by this thought, I finally summoned Undine.
Upon manifesting, Undine remained silent, its gaze fixed upon the vast mass of water before us. Finally, after a prolonged stillness, it spoke: "Why have we come here?"
I was taken aback by the query, as it suggested that Undine possessed some prior knowledge of this place.
Moreover, there appeared to be an intangible link between Undine and this realm that I failed to comprehend.
"Have you been here in the past?" I inquired after steadying my nerves.
However, Undine merely shook its head, responding simply, "No, I have never visited this place before."
I couldn't help but regard Undine with a perplexed expression, but this was hardly the moment for idle contemplation. Instead, I pressed on: "Can you manifest a bubble of air around me?"
Normally, Undine would have anticipated these needs instinctively, but today it appeared entirely detached.
Even following my request, Undine offered no immediate acknowledgement.
It stood as if in a trance, transfixed by the surrounding water.
Finally, after an extended silence, Undine asked, "Do you truly intend to descend into the deep?"
I felt caught off guard once again.
Undine usually complied with my wishes without hesitation, but its reluctance to submerge was palpable.
I struggled to fathom what history Undine shared with these water elementals that would elicit such a response.
I had observed the rock elementals' attitudes toward the spirits, and it hadn't seemed particularly hostile. Conversely, the other elemental types rarely seemed to regard the spirits at all.
So, to see Undine behave in this manner was truly peculiar…
"What took place in our history that makes Undine so hesitant to confront these elementals again?"
While I felt a measure of sympathy for Undine, the existing connection between it and the water elementals might actually simplify our task.
After all, since their paths had clearly crossed before…
If I plunged into the depths using Undine's influence, the water elementals would undoubtedly be drawn to us. Naturally, there was a danger of aggression if the historical baggage between them was negative.
However, I was prepared to accept that risk, as it was unlikely they would pose a threat to me directly. By brandishing the Mark of God, I could prove my identity, and they would recognize it.
They would understand that I was their only hope for salvation.
Therefore, I declared, "We must descend. If we fail to act, they will face certain peril."
Undine studied me with a complex expression before eventually whispering a soft, "Very well."
With that, I plunged into the depths.
As I made contact with the surface, the water parted instantly. Moments later, Undine enveloped me within a protective bubble of air.
