Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2100: Pure emptiness
Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
Walking along the same corridor as the previous areas, I couldn't help but ponder what awaited us at the destination. It was difficult to fathom the type of environment that wind elementals would choose for a home. In my mind, wind elementals were beings constructed entirely of air, so it seemed unlikely they would require any physical structures. It felt as though wherever there was a breeze, a wind elemental would find a place to exist.
Upon reaching the base of the stairs, the view caught us all off guard. Or, perhaps it would be more accurate to claim that our surprise stemmed from what remained absent. Truthfully, there was absolutely nothing to be found in this space.
Unlike the habitats occupied by the rock and flame elementals, this area was entirely vacant. The sheer emptiness of the room left it feeling completely devoid of life. When I gathered my wits, however, a part of me recognized that this was likely how things were supposed to be. I could clearly sense the breeze circulating around us. It was a gentle flow, strong enough to rustle our hair, confirming that wind was indeed present within this domain.
The only conundrum was, "Where do we even begin?" Nobody offered a response to my audible inquiry. Naturally, no one possessed any knowledge of what we might encounter here.
After a moment of silence, Lupus spoke, "Can you not sense them? They are surrounding us."
I wasn't the only one who arched a brow toward Lupus; all of us gazed at her with expressions of utter bewilderment. As far as our eyes could detect, there was truly nothing present.
However, Lupus served as the divine messenger for the God of Wind. It was hardly surprising that she might perceive wind elemental energy that remained hidden from the rest of us, given the unique nature of her power. Even so, her observation offered no guidance on where we should start our search.
Ultimately, it proved to be an excellent decision to bring Lupus along. With a single howl, the atmosphere around us began to shift.
Initially, it appeared as though she were launching an assault against something concealed nearby. But as the wind stirred without any sense of malice or lethality, I realized that wasn't the case. She seemed to be weaving a specific, potent breeze to communicate with whatever lurked nearby.
I could perceive the complexity in the wind she summoned by the trace of divine energy woven into it. This was evidently a manifestation of the powers bestowed upon her by the deity she represented.
Before long, the air coalesced into a swirling vortex around us. Suddenly, a voice resonated in the space, "Representative of Zephyrus, it has been quite a while."
Lupus looked toward the source of the sound and responded, "It has been a significant amount of time since we last crossed paths." She concluded her statement with a strange noise that none of us could interpret.
Based on my understanding of elementals, this was almost certainly the name of the entity Lupus was addressing. If she recognized the elemental, they were surely old acquaintances. Any elemental ancient enough to remember Lupus would have known her before they were sealed away. This indicated that we were likely standing before the ancestor of the wind elementals. While the other ancestors had proven elusive, this one emerged the moment Lupus called.
There was no doubt that my task would be far easier now that the ancestor had appeared. Yet, the ancestor seemed entirely uninterested in me.
As the ancestor revealed itself, the lesser wind elementals began to manifest as well. Detecting them was significantly more challenging than spotting the rock or flame elementals. After all, wind possesses no inherent physical form. If it were not for the distinct patterns they created within the air currents, they would have been entirely invisible.
The wind elemental ancestor dwarfed the others, its sheer scale suggesting the presence of a natural disaster. It approached Lupus and remained silent for several moments. When it finally spoke, the tone was surprisingly warm: "It has been a long time, my friend."
"The last time we encountered one another was during the war of the gods," the voice added. This confirmed the deep, historic connection between them. Then again, the elementals had fought alongside the gods, and as a divine messenger, it made sense that Lupus would be well-acquainted with them.
After their brief conversation, Lupus turned to me and announced, "This is the current master I serve, and the one who will bring salvation to you all."
"Then you must be the individual foretold in the prophecy. We have awaited your arrival for a great age," the wind elemental ancestor replied without hesitation. The two of them continued to push the narrative forward, leaving me to watch on in silence.
