Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1969: Queen of bugs

Guided by glowing fireflies through a dark tunnel, the party discovered a massive subterranean transport hub teeming with an endless tide of insects. The colony displayed unexpected intelligence, parting their ranks to lead the travelers toward the heart of the nest. After bypassing a gauntlet of elite royal guards, the group reached a secluded chamber to find the entity controlling the hive. This divine messenger greeted the Holy Son, revealing itself as a being capable of speech and possessed of immense spiritual energy.

"I’m not what you imagined?"

The shock was so overwhelming that I failed to mask my expression.

Given my stunned reaction, it wasn't a surprise that they could read my thoughts so easily.

Since they had already figured it out, there was no point in pretending. I simply gave a nod of confirmation.

"Well, it’s only natural that I wouldn’t fit the image of a god’s messenger. I believe the only reason I achieved this rank was because of the deity I serve."

A hint of bitterness leaked into their voice as they spoke.

They were clearly aware of how peculiar it was for them to be a god’s messenger, yet they didn't seem to be wallowing in self-pity.

This messenger had likely been alive for ages, so it was only expected that they would eventually come to terms with their existence.

Still, the fact that this divine messenger was a bug, just like the others here, was truly startling.

This particular insect, despite being a god’s messenger, was even tinier than most of the bugs in the colony. Had my vision not been significantly enhanced recently, I would have struggled to even spot them.

Even now, seeing the bug's complete form was somewhat difficult.

However, I did notice one feature that was strange yet fitting. After all, this was the creature that commanded the entire colony.

It was only appropriate that it wore what appeared to be a crown upon its head.

Clearly, this was the colony's queen.

Yet, the bug's appearance was bizarre; it didn't belong to any single race. She didn't look like an ant queen; instead, she seemed like a chaotic fusion of various insect species merged into one body.

With such a form, she could be described as the universal queen of all insects.

"I am aware my appearance is strange, but that is the identity I was granted. First, allow me to introduce the god I serve, Insectum. I imagine you can already guess their domain."

With a name like that, the god's specialty was obvious.

Nevertheless, it was quite odd that a God of Insects even existed in the first place.

"Through their blessing, I became the progenitor of every insect in existence. That is how I eventually became a god’s messenger."

Progenitor... that meant this messenger was the very first insect to ever exist.

When framed that way, it made perfect sense for this queen of bugs to hold the status of a god’s messenger.

The first insect—that was a legendary status indeed.

It was similar to Adam and Eve for humanity... though that particular religion didn't exist within this game world.

"Do you have any messages for me?" I asked, shifting the subject. It felt disrespectful to keep prying into the messenger's personal history.

Krtch, krtch, krtch.

A peculiar sound emanated from the god’s messenger, though it sounded like laughter based on the rhythm.

After a moment, the messenger spoke in an amused tone, "Very direct. I like that. I won't waste any more of your time."

Switching to a more serious voice, the god’s messenger continued, "I am aware you are here to gather god’s messengers for the final battle. I am willing to join you, but there is a task I require you to complete before I can depart."

Even though I hadn't faced this requirement with previous messengers, I wasn't shocked. It was actually more suspicious that they would follow me so readily without any conditions.

Being asked for a favor before they joined felt more realistic.

I gave a simple nod and asked, "What do you need me to do?"

Rather than answering directly, the messenger said, "Well, I'm certain you can tell that I am quite different from the other god’s messengers you've encountered."

A small smile touched my lips. That was a massive understatement, but I remained silent and waited for them to continue.

"My powers are naturally distinct from theirs as well, which is why there are specific conditions that must be met before I can accompany you."

I nodded again to show I followed the logic.

"What I need is for you to take this entire zone away with you."

"Huh?" I was caught completely off guard, staring at the god’s messenger with a bewildered expression.

With another sound that resembled a laugh, the messenger said, "Don't look at me like that. I'm not joking; I am being entirely serious."

I replied awkwardly, "Well, I do know some earth magic, and I possess a relic from Terra, but... moving this entire space with just those is beyond me..."

"Who said anything about doing that? I simply want you to claim this habitat and carry it away."

I found myself confused once again by those words.
