Rise of The Demon General Chapter 795. Broken Justice
Previously on Rise of The Demon General...
Amon reappeared in the external world. After securing the prison box, he proceeded to the location where Yun Chao's remains were scattered. He brushed the bones aside and knelt beside the fractured sword.
"The Light of Justice," Amon whispered. Beyond its potent aura, he could detect abundant light element within the sword. He grasped the hilt.
'It's heavy,' Amon mused as he lifted the broken sword. Upon touching the blade, it effortlessly drew blood from his skin.
"Still sharp," Amon commented.
The materials comprising this blade were exceptionally resilient, and its intricate engravings were unlike anything Amon had ever witnessed. Even after such a prolonged period and with evident damage, its aura remained remarkably strong. The force required to shatter this sword in its prime must have been extraordinary.
Amon couldn't ascertain its exact grade, but given it belonged to a cultivator potentially at the apex of this world, it should be Divine grade. However, in its current state, he doubted its power was even half of its original might.
Despite its diminished condition, this broken sword was far superior to his Moonfire Dagger. Its fractured state rendered it an ideal size for a dagger.
Amon twirled the broken sword. Although substantial, he perceived his swinging speed escalating with each rotation. He swung the blade against a nearby rock pillar. It passed through the rock as if it were air, with no resistance felt. The rock pillar disintegrated, leaving an incredibly smooth surface where the blade had passed.
"Hm..." Amon attempted to channel his infernal aether into the broken sword. Most weapons of Runic grade and higher possess unique abilities when infused with a user's energy. Yet, nothing transpired.
Amon was not disheartened. This fractured sword, once wielded by a divine cultivator, might not react to infernal energy. He simply needed to confirm.
He then channeled his divine energy. This time, a transformation occurred. The blade erupted in a brilliant luminescence, akin to holding a beacon of blinding light. Surprisingly, his vision was not obscured; instead, it was sharpened.
"Mm... Lin Li, Yuka. Emerge."
Lin Li materialized at his command. "Brother, what do you require?" she inquired.
Amon observed that the brilliant light did not affect her. He focused his mind on the black spatial ring. Yuka was leisurely positioned by the lake, ignoring Amon's summons.
As the space within the black spatial ring was under his absolute dominion, he could expel anything within it. He did so with Yuka, causing the giant butterfly beast to materialize beside him.
Yuka, visibly annoyed, turned to face Amon, grumbling, "What the hell do you think... Ahh...!! What is with that light? I can't see!!"
Lin Li appeared perplexed by Yuka's reaction, but Amon remained unfazed.
'Just as I suspected,' Amon thought. Lin Li was unaffected due to her mental link with him, whereas Yuka, lacking such a connection, was blinded. Amon surmised the sword's capabilities extended beyond mere visual impairment.
"Can you sense my presence?" Amon asked Yuka.
"What...? No! I cannot! It's as if something has enveloped me... What did you do?!" Yuka exclaimed, alarmed.
Amon swung the broken sword in a specific direction. The movement unleashed a beam of light that streaked across the space, striking the far wall and causing it to crumble. The light penetrated deeply but halted at the boundary of the pocket dimension.
"What did you do?!" Yuka demanded, unnerved by the concussive sound of the light's impact.
Amon offered no reply. He executed another swing, this time directing the light towards the swirling darkness on the ceiling. The light struck but was absorbed into the void without even a ripple.
He was not surprised. If this weapon possessed the ability to carve an exit, Yun Chao would have undoubtedly utilized it. Nevertheless, he was gratified that the weapon's enchantment remained functional. Though perhaps not as potent as in its intact state, it still surpassed every weapon he had encountered thus far.
He ceased his experiments with the weapon, and the intense light subsided. Yuka could now see again.
"What in the world was that?" she inquired indignantly.
"My new armament, the Broken Justice," Amon replied.
"I don't care if your broken sword is called the Noble Sword or Master Sword! Do you think I'm your subordinate to be summoned and commanded at will? Our arrangement is based on an agreement, and I've fulfilled all your requests. Now, remove this burden from me!"
"Not quite. You have yet to fulfill my final request."
"Stop with the jokes, kid. Your last request was for me to lead you to the humanoid Cryanid we fought earlier. I’ve fulfilled that."
"You brought me to its nest. I still haven’t encountered the one we’ve been tracking."
Yuka glared at Amon with narrowed, menacing eyes. "I’m not amused, human. Are you attempting to deceive me? I know your true objective isn’t just that specific humanoid Cryanid. He merely happens to reside where your real target is located. If you believe I’ll simply go along with this, you’re mistaken!"
Amon produced a talisman—the very one used to control the collar around Yuka’s neck.
Yuka’s demeanor shifted to alarm at the sight. Was Amon finally dropping all pretense and severing their connection? She adopted a defensive posture, bracing for a conflict.
The talisman in Amon’s hand pulsed with light. Yuka flinched, anticipating the control collar’s explosion. Instead, it fractured into two pieces and dropped harmlessly to the ground.
"You are correct," Amon stated. "You have completed my request. You are now a free beast. Depart. I will not hinder your exit."
Yuka scanned her surroundings, her gaze locking onto the swirling darkness above and remaining there for a considerable duration.
She cursed under her breath, "Dammit! This place is a pocket dimension, and its exit is sealed incredibly tightly. There’s no way I can escape on my own."
"Your spatial sense is quite acute. However, your inability to leave this place is not my concern," Amon replied with a shrug. "I have upheld my side of the agreement. I have no interest in your next move. Do you perhaps still intend to devour me, as you threatened years ago? If so, I welcome the challenge."
Yuka observed the broken blade in Amon’s grasp. She had already witnessed its blinding luminescence. Its aura alone confirmed immense power; she doubted her body could withstand a strike from it. Amon could already contend with her almost equally without that weapon. Furthermore, Lin Li was present, and Yuka knew Amon still possessed the Sun Ray Hawk and numerous battle puppets stored within his black spatial ring. Engaging him aggressively would place her at a significant disadvantage.
"Tch! Whatever. You’re trapped here too. I’ll be watching you. You won’t be leaving this place without me."
Amon simply shrugged again and ceased his conversation, turning away. He instructed Lin Li to return to the black spatial ring. Lin Li cast a suspicious glance at Yuka before complying. Following this, Amon settled himself before the inscribed wall, immersing himself in contemplation of the second section of Yun Chao’s writings.
Yuka paced the cavern, frequently glancing back at Amon. She wasn’t searching for an escape; she had already accepted the impossibility of it. Restlessness gnawed at her. She actually yearned to return to the black spatial ring. The interior offered a far superior environment, abundant with spirit plants and a lake blessed by the Spring of Life. These elements infused the air, making it remarkably fresh. The lake harbored numerous aether-rich fish, providing ample sustenance, a stark contrast to the oppressive gloom of the cavern. Nevertheless, her pride prevented her from requesting Amon to allow her re-entry. Consequently, she continued her aimless wandering.
Amon paid her no mind. While a fraction of his awareness remained vigilant for any hostile actions, the majority of his focus was fixed upon the inscriptions.
He could decipher the characters but struggled to grasp their full meaning immediately. He refused to yield, rereading the text meticulously, word by word. Yun Chao’s writings never specified his Cultivation level, but given his ability to contend with a Divine, his Cultivation must have been within the Devil realm. A Cultivation art from such a powerful figure would not be easily understood.
Amon remained resolute. His Infernal Cultivation art was effective only up to the Supreme Stage. Although he was still some distance from reaching that level, acquiring a superior Cultivation art would be beneficial. As for his Divine Cultivation art, he had obtained a new one upon achieving the rank of General in Echos. However, much like most Cultivation arts in Aetheria, it capped below the Demigod realm.
Therefore, he needed to acquire a new Cultivation art that would enable him to transcend his current limitations.
