My mother continued explaining everything that had happened.

"Divine Essence is now flowing through the flora in certain areas and has slowly begun to appear in wild beasts as well. Of course, that is dangerous on its own. Some hazardous zones might start forming, filled with concentrated divine energy," she said. "The monsters there could become several ranks stronger than before because of it. But the situation is under control for now."

"I see…" I nodded slowly. "So two new worldwide problems have appeared. Ugh, perfect."

"It is tiring, but it is nothing we cannot handle in due time," my father said warmly, patting my back with reassurance. "How about we take a trip to Evercraft now? Let's go!"

We quickly took flight on my father's familiar, the majestic Phoenix, and soon landed at Evercraft's bustling airport. There, we encountered hundreds of people, mostly local citizens, moving energetically from one place to another as they transported materials and supplies.

They were so absorbed in their tasks that nobody paid any special attention to us, even though we were known as heroes. That was perfectly fine with me. I did not want any extra attention anyway.

"Move those things over here!"

"Hey, we need more logs right away!"

"Who asked for the new construction tools?"

"Move the barrels of wine over there!"

"When are you bringing in the nails?"

"District C is finished! We have created enough shelters for those in need! But more help is required on the other side. Hurry up and get to work!"

"The King is requesting assistance in the noble district! The pay is good!"

"We just hunted a large prey. Let's butcher it and cook it for the workers!"

"We are almost done with this section. Once we finish, let's have lunch, boys!"

Hundreds, no, thousands of people were working relentlessly, living their lives with determination and moving forward despite the recent catastrophe.

The dwarves truly refused to give up. They continued pushing ahead, building a new future with their own capable hands.

"Yeah, these people… dwarves are probably the hardest-working race out there," my father laughed heartily. "Not even a full day after everything settled down, they immediately started building new houses, setting up shelters, cleaning the tunnels, and doing so much more. Hahaha!"

"Wow…" I muttered in amazement while walking through the city that had been mostly in ruins not long ago. Roughly thirty percent of those ruins were now gone, replaced by fresh, newly rebuilt structures. "This is amazing. Ah!"

Suddenly, I noticed a red-skinned half-dwarf and half-oni girl skillfully using her hammer to drive nails into the roof of a house. She was finishing up the final touches here and there until she spotted me. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and brightened up.

"Sylphy! You're awake!"

"Eh? Sylph— Ah! The hero girl?!"

Behind her stood a gruff dwarf, her father.

"Ruby!" I called out, running toward her with joy.

She jumped off the roof without hesitation, nearly worrying her father to death.

"Ruby! What the hell are you doing?!" he panicked, looking down only to see her landing completely fine.

"I'm fine, Dad!" she laughed cheerfully.

"A-Ah… you are going to give me a heart attack one of these days!" he sighed in relief.

"Come down here, Dad. Greet her properly this time!" Ruby said as she hugged me tightly. "You're awake, Sylphy!"

"Yep, I am alright now," I replied with a big, genuine smile. "And I can guess your dad is doing fine too?"

"He is doing fine!" she nodded enthusiastically. "Still grumpy as always, though."

As he walked down the stairs, he greeted us once more. He wore a new pair of prosthetic gloves that his daughter had built for him recently.

"Hm, well, greetings, Princess," he said. "Hmm…" He crossed his arms and let out a deep sigh. "I guess we started off on the wrong foot last time. I was really drunk and… no, that does not excuse me. I… I am sorry." He offered a sincere apology.

I nodded silently for a moment. "I guess he really has changed a little. Yeah, still, he needs to drop that annoying, grumpy personality of his!"

"Hey! That is just how I am!" he grumbled, clicking his tongue, crossing his arms, and averting his gaze from me.

"Heheh, sorry!" Ruby giggled warmly. "Mom liked him like that anyway, haha! A-Anyway! We have been working hard here. I have built around a dozen houses in the last few days! Dad has been helping as much as he can too."

"Tsk, she is working herself to death!" he complained. "Hey, Princess, tell her to slow down for once! It cannot be good for her health! What happened here… was not her fault. She should not blame herself for it."

"He is not wrong," I agreed, nodding gently. "Ruby, take it easy… okay?"

"Sure," she sighed softly. "I was about to take a break anyway. Can I come with you? Are you going to meet up with your friends?"

"Yeah, and sure, come along!" I nodded happily. "Father, is that alright?"

"Yes, yes, take her with you," he nodded. "I will stay here with the boys. Take care and come back to the house for dinner!" He waved and walked away.

"Well, it looks like he really made a sudden turn, huh?" I wondered aloud.

"Yeah, it is crazy," Aquarina added. "Turning into a monster might have made him realize he was becoming a real one."

"D-Don't say that…" Ruby sighed. "He is still working on himself, but… a lot of things happened. He realized a lot too. But we can talk about it later. Let's go meet everyone else! I know exactly where they are!"

Ruby grabbed both Aquarina's and my hands, then ran off excitedly while leaving our parents behind.

"Hey, wait!" Zephyrus called out as he chased after us.

I smiled warmly, realizing that life had truly begun to improve even after such a devastating catastrophe.

Because I had never seen Ruby smile so brightly before.
