Are the beasts that emerge within these divine realms no longer entirely an extension of myself? Or perhaps it is simply because they have fallen under someone else’s dominion... Regardless, there might be a way for me to capitalize on this situation.
From my understanding, divine and spirit beasts are crucial for maintaining the well-being of a divine realm, so overhunting them feels improper. It is generally better to hunt elsewhere, unless I am confident in their regular and abundant respawn rate.
Even so, it wouldn't hurt to hunt a few here and accumulate some EXP. This experience is necessary to finally max out the levels of some of my beast companions.
And subsequently evolve them.
I wonder... will they all ascend into super divine beings?
Nah, that possibility is highly improbable. Only specific ones will attain such a status. Still, I eagerly anticipate witnessing their ultimate forms once they reach peak level and undergo evolution.
"Wow, that was intense, but you vanquished it so swiftly, Sylphy!" Lara exclaimed. "That was absolutely amazing!"
"Indeed, it was incredible. Well done," Mist concurred.
"Now, that’s an excessive amount of tentacles. Is this meat even safe to consume?" Celeste inquired.
"Affirmative, it is..." I responded, stroking my chin thoughtfully.
As we were scrutinizing the fallen creature, I observed our parents already engaging another beast that had surfaced from the sea to confront us.
It was a colossal, three-headed electric sea serpent, another Tier 8 Divine Spirit Beast.
"Whoa, what manner of creature is this?!" my father inquired.
"It's colossal!" Nepheline shrieked.
"Exercise caution! Thunderbolts are raining down indiscriminately!" my mother cautioned.
"And here I thought this place would offer some tranquility..." Shade grumbled. "Hey, Sylphy, can’t you pacify it?"
"Subdue it!" I commanded from a distance. "It's fine! These are wild entities. I lack the ability to control them!"
Our parents, having overheard, had their eyes alight with fiery determination. They nodded in unison and charged toward the formidable beast.
"Be mindful of its electrified form!" my mother's voice echoed.
"Engage it with long-range assaults!" Shade advised, unleashing a barrage of his Soul Weapon Knives, which detonated in curtains of black flame.
"You asked for it!" my dad bellowed, his massive sword cleaving the air and projecting devastating waves of sword energy.
"How about a shower of boulders to mix things up?!" Nepheline cackled, conjuring gargantuan rocks that summarily crushed the beast into the earth.
"You have met your end!" my mother delivered the final blow. A magical sigil materialized above the creature, and a titanic white beam incinerated it.
The beast emitted a pained death rattle before succumbing and collapsing lifelessly upon the ground.
The encounter was both swift and intensely exhilarating.
And I reaped all the EXP from the spoils.
"Sylphy, the kraken also yielded some valuable items!" Alice called out.
"Ah, understood!" I acknowledged, securing the items floating on the sea's surface. "Hm? Oh! Soul Orbs... Divine Spirit Orbs?! And... what is this peculiar object?"
It was a small, luminous, translucent egg. "Is this a dropped item?" I inquired.
"Indeed," Alice affirmed.
Upon grasping it, the egg felt yielding and moist. It was undeniably an egg.
---
[Giant Kraken Egg (? Grade)]
An egg deposited by a Giant Kraken. Upon hatching, a nascent Kraken possessing both Spirit and Divine Beast traits will emerge. Establishing a familiar bond with it will be remarkably effortless, irrespective of the recipient.
---
"Ooh, so this is essentially a complimentary familiar pet!" I exclaimed with delight. "This is incredibly exciting! I wonder who would be the most suitable recipient? I don’t believe I have any need for it myself... I’m not particularly fond of octopuses."
"Well, we can deliberate on that matter later," Alice suggested. "Aquarina appears to be a compatible choice, and if she declines, perhaps your brother. He currently possesses only a solitary familiar, which is less than ideal."
"A valid point," I conceded, stowing the egg within my inventory as it was classified as an item. "Very well, let’s proceed to—Woah?!"
Just as we were preparing to savor a moment of respite, the ocean expanse behind us began to churn violently. Numerous wild Divine Spirit sea beasts erupted forth, emitting ferocious roars in our direction.
Colossal sharks equipped with crab-like appendages, regal crabs adorned with golden carapaces, the aforementioned three-headed electric eels, additional monstrous krakens, and even formidable fishmen kings materialized.
"W-What is transpiring?! Yggdra?" I called out. "Your aquatic domain is far from secure!"
"I am aware! My sincerest apologies!!!" Yggdra materialized beside me. "I did not anticipate this scenario. The divine realm is currently inundated with an overwhelming proliferation of beasts! The majority have spawned within the sea. I have been attempting to contain them beneath the waves, but do you believe you can vanquish them?"
"Is that truly acceptable?" I questioned.
"You may perceive it as a Divine Spirit Beast hunting season, if you wish," she replied. "Occasionally, an excess accumulation of divine and spirit energy triggers a massive surge in beast spawns. Once a sufficient number are defeated, the ecosystem naturally decelerates and re-establishes equilibrium. I could manage this task independently, but I surmised it might prove more entertaining for you and your companions."
"It certainly will! Alright!"
Abruptly, a wealth of knowledge was imparted to me. Apparently, the first stratum of the Dungeon was experiencing an overflow of divine spirit energy, consequently inducing an incessant spawning of Divine Spirit Beasts that had grown exceedingly aggressive.
While Yggdra possessed the strength to handle the monster threat on her own, it would be far more advantageous if we intervened to secure all the experience points and loot.
"Are you absolutely certain this is permissible?" I inquired once more.
"Indeed. The reason for this is that this particular dungeon is now saturated with a significant amount of divine spiritual energy, a consequence of my evolution and its transformation into my personal divine realm," Yggdra elaborated. "I have channeled the excess energy into the oceans, thereby safeguarding the land for the Arboren people. Although terrestrial beasts still abound, the overflowing energy has primarily impacted the marine environment. This surge is precipitating rapid growth in the sea beasts, causing them to appear in vast numbers and adopt increasingly territorial and hyper-aggressive behaviors, particularly towards any perceived intruders."
"So, this is the reason they do not recognize me?" I mused, commencing my approach towards the beach as my companions observed the encroaching horde of beasts. "I am unable to exert any control over them either."
"Precisely. It appears that the floors within a Divine Realm operate under a distinct set of regulations," she explained. "Divine Spirit Beasts cannot be commanded in the same manner as ordinary dungeon-born monsters. My apologies for this predicament... They are merely acting upon their most fundamental instincts as berserk dungeon guardians. And due to their sheer numbers, once they fixate their pursuit on you, the entire legion will inevitably follow."
"In that case, how many are we capable of eliminating?" I questioned, recalling Scarlet and Sapphire and brandishing both blades. My Quintuple Yggdragon Aura manifested and surged with formidable power around my person.
"Dispatch as many as your heart desires!" Yggdra declared. "There is genuinely no upper limit, provided they cease their harassment of you."
"Understood!" I affirmed with a nod. "Listen up, everyone! Yggdra has given the clearance to hunt as many as we please!"
"Truly?!" Aquarina exclaimed. "Well, I suppose we might as well, won't we? Plus, we'll gain some levels!"
"Alright, certainly!" Mist responded affirmatively, summoning her bow, accompanied by dozens of resplendent golden arrows that began to orbit around her.
"The moment has arrived!" Celica proclaimed, summoning her golems in rapid succession. The plush toys underwent a dramatic transformation, morphing into colossal, heavily armored, spectral titans of black phantasm.
