Please note that the opening chapters of this tale emphasize the finding of the female protagonist's corpse. Soon after, the plot will transition to her rebirth.

I had perished.

I met my end on the evening when he sought to safeguard his fresh beloved and compelled me to divert the assassin.

Once deceased, my remains were transformed into a display specimen, sealed within a transparent case.

Yet Damien Coleman abruptly lost his sanity...

I remained clueless as to why my spirit returned to the Coleman home in Huma post-death.

"Why can't I reach Sophia still? It's been days now."

Lisa Smith perched on the sofa, murmuring softly, "She's always been so compliant and never skips my calls. Has something gone wrong?"

From age 18, I joined the Coleman household as their adopted daughter.

My mom was Aunty Lisa's closest companion. After my parents' fatal car accident, Aunty Lisa welcomed me into the Coleman family.

"Mom, drop it about her. She's grown up. What harm could come?"

Damien showed irritation, checking the clock. "Juliet's birthday is today. I'm heading out."

Gazing at Damien, I gave a bitter, self-mocking laugh. He wouldn't fret over my life or death.

We were once labeled childhood sweethearts by our families. I trailed after him, and he enjoyed grasping my hand.

He claimed affection for me, and like a fool, I cherished him for ten full years.

Regrettably, youthful bonds shatter easily. Once Damien encountered his destined one, our shared emotions evaporated in an instant.

"Oh, Damien. Rumors of a serial murderer are circulating. He preys on attractive young ladies especially.

"I feel this dreadful premonition. Damien, reach out to Sophia. Say I long for her."

Aunty Lisa fretted, beseeching in a gentle tone.

Post my parents' demise, Aunty Lisa alone nurtured me like her own flesh and blood.

I yearned to embrace and reassure her. But that was impossible now.

Instead, I inflicted deep pain on her.

"Aunty Lisa, forgive me..." I sobbed, extending my arms for a hug.

Yet I couldn't make contact.

"She's just an ungrateful mutt. Even if upset with me, ignoring your calls is rude. She's gotten too haughty."

Damien's expression twisted in revulsion while speaking of me.

I recalled Damien's injury from kidnappers long ago. I risked everything to lead them off, wishing his escape.

Right before fainting, he vowed eternal kindness to me.

Now that devotion vanished, reducing me to a stray in his eyes.

"Damien Coleman, I'm gone now. You're liberated at last." I positioned myself beside him, deriding my fate.

"So I've always been that ungrateful stray in your view."

"Damien, I get you resist wedding Sophia. Yet a betrothal existed between you.

"Childhood sweethearts built a solid bond young. How do I face her mom without the marriage?"

Damien's visage grew stormy, retorting icily, "Childhood sweethearts? Do I have to wed her for growing up together?

"Only she harbored love, clinging to old promises. She discarded shame to entice me for marriage."

I trembled uncontrollably, lifting my palm to strike Damien. But it proved futile.

"Damien Coleman, you scum!"

That evening, he lost control and assaulted me, then accused me afterward.

After Damien departed, my spirit trailed him unwillingly to Juliet Turner's birthday gathering.

Upon arrival, Damien's friends beamed, summoning Juliet.

"Happy birthday, Juliet. Damien splurged big for your celebration."

Damien beamed tenderly at Juliet, presenting a gift amid cheers.

"Damien, any word on Sophia?" Juliet feigned sudden recall, inquiring meekly.

I sneered inwardly, "Feigning purity? Didn't you orchestrate my demise?"

Damien scowled. "Skip her; don't spoil the vibe."

Juliet grinned. "Come on. She's family to you."

"Family?" Damien snorted derisively.

"She nearly caused your death, yet you defend her. Too merciful."

Juliet clung to Damien, cooing playfully. "I don't care at all..."

I positioned before Damien, desperately clarifying, "I didn't! I've never harmed her. She arranged my murder! Damien, she ended me!"

But Damien heard nothing.

I wailed in desperation, exerting every effort to vindicate myself.

After endless attempts, exhaustion overtook me.

Damien never placed faith in me.

"Heard the serial killer's still loose? Cops discovered six corpses, all stunning women."

Someone gossiped about the slayings.

"Didn't he aim for Juliet recently? Lucky Damien guarded her tight. Disaster otherwise."

"Sophia attempted luring him but flopped. Killers ignore her too. Haha!"

"True. Killers spurn her. How's she rival our Juliet?"

Damien grew restless, irked. "Enough of this talk."

He ignited a cigarette as his phone buzzed. Damien picked up.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Damien Coleman? Huma Police here. What's your tie to Sophia Milford?"

Damien bolted upright, silencing the room.

"Quiet, all of you!"

Nerves gripped him; fingers blanched. "Sophia is... my sister."

I eyed Damien, a smile forming unexpectedly.

Even in death, I remained merely his sister.

"Possible incident with her. We located her phone and items at a crime site. Come identify her, please."
