"Delicious, huh? Like this?"
Gioni glanced up toward the voice, his body jerking as a sharp, searing pain shot through his side. He looked down, his tiny eyes widening in shock. His left hand was gone, severed cleanly at the wrist, lying on the ground a few feet away, still twitching.
He let out a blood-curdling scream, clutching the stump as black ichor poured between his fingers. His face twisted with fury, his voice cracking into a shrill, enraged shriek.
"WHO CUT OFF GIONI’S HAND!? WHO DARES TO HURT GIONI?! GIONI WILL EAT THEM! GIONI WILL EAT THEM WHOLE!"
He spun around, his tiny eyes scanning the area in a wild frenzy before they landed on a figure standing in the distance. The man held a massive, gleaming sword resting casually on his shoulder, its blade radiating a fusion of divine radiance and modern fantasy design. Intricate runes pulsed along the edges, and the hilt was wrapped in a material that shimmered like liquid silver.
Gioni’s face went pale, his voice dropping into a trembling, terrified whisper.
"G... Garius!!!"
Javier smirked, tilting his head slightly. "How does it taste? Hmm?"
He glanced over his shoulder at the soldiers and battle maids, his voice calm and commanding.
"Bring my girl to safety. Ensure she stays at the Armand forward base."
Liana smiled softly, her eyes warm as she asked, "Young Master. What about Gracelle?"
"Ah... don’t worry. By now, I’m sure Marcellus and Cedric have already escorted her out of the last town." Javier pointed toward the distance, where Marcellus and Cedric were moving on their pekkos, stopping at a safe distance with Gracelle seated behind Cedric.
"Oi, little brother!" Marcellus called out, his voice carrying across the plain. "Need help with that creepy?"
Javier shook his head, his smirk widening as he turned back toward Gioni.
"Nah~ I’ll handle this one myself. Please escort everyone out. I’ll deal with this creepy... alone."
Gioni’s face twisted with fury, his tiny eyes bulging as he stomped both feet like a child throwing a massive tantrum. The ground shook with each impact, cracks spider-webbing across the earth.
"Gioni not creepy! Gioni is good boy! Gioni just hungry! Gioni always hungry! Why nobody understand?! Gioni just want to eat! Eating is good! Eating makes Gioni happy! But everyone always mean to Gioni! Everyone call Gioni names! Gioni not creepy! Gioni not bad! Gioni just HUNGRY!"
He glared at Javier, grinding his jagged teeth together with a wet, scraping sound. His breath came out in short, furious snorts, his nostrils flaring as his chest heaved with barely contained rage. Spittle flew from his lips as he snarled.
"Gioni hates being called creepy! Gioni is good boy! Leader said so! Leader said Gioni can eat whoever Gioni wants! Leader promised Gioni lots of food! But now Gioni hurt! Garius cut off Gioni’s hand! Gioni’s favorite hand! The one Gioni uses to grab food!"
His eyes flared with dark energy, and his severed hand began to twitch. Black, viscous liquid oozed from the stump, writhing and bubbling before it solidified, reshaping into a new hand, identical to the one he had lost. He flexed his fingers, a creepy grin spreading across his face.
"Now Gioni is angry. Gioni doesn’t care if Garius is here. Gioni will eat him! Gioni will eat everyone! And then Gioni will tell Leader that Gioni found the tastiest meal ever! Leader will be so proud of Gioni! Leader will give Gioni even more food!"
Javier rolled his eyes, letting out a bored sigh. He swung his sword casually, a single, fluid motion that sent thousands of glowing light blades streaking toward Gioni. They tore through his massive body in an instant, carving him into dozens of pieces that scattered across the ground.
Gioni screamed in rage, his voice cracking with fury as his body parts twitched and writhed. Dark liquid oozed from each severed piece, reaching out and pulling the fragments back together. His body reformed, piece by piece, until he stood whole again, his grin even wider, his eyes burning with hunger.
"Gioni can’t die! Gioni always comes back! Gioni will keep eating and eating until everything is gone!"
Javier smirked, resting his massive sword on his shoulder again as his body crackled with raw energy. Lightning arced across his frame in brilliant white and gold streaks, while faint wisps of fire, frost, wind, and earth swirled around him in a controlled, radiant storm. His eyes gleamed with a calm, dangerous light as he stared down at Gioni.
"Mm~ Can’t die? You sure?" Javier’s voice was calm, but his eyes were sharp. "Because from what I know... you’re just an extension. A fragment. A puppet that came from one person. You’re not even an entity that has independence without your master."
He narrowed his eyes toward Gioni, his smirk turning cold and knowing.
"I don’t know who your master is, or which ’realm’ he’s in right now. But saying you can’t be killed? That’s wrong. You’re just a piece of something bigger. Cut off from your source, you’ll wither. You’ll fade. You’ll become nothing."
His sword vanished back into his dimensional storage with a soft shimmer. He slipped both hands into his pockets, his eyes turning cold and serious, his voice dropping into a low, dangerous tone.
"And because you aimed for the girl I love the most among all... the one I’ve always cared for... the one who means everything to me..."
He took a step forward, his aura flaring violently, the ground beneath him cracking under the pressure.
"You’re making me very, very angry."
Gioni’s eyes narrowed, his grin widening with a dark, gurgling chuckle that bubbled up from deep within his massive chest.
"Hehe... hehehe... Gioni sees now~ You not Garius~ You just a boy~ A boy who looks like Garius~"
He tilted his head, drool spilling from the corner of his mouth as his body trembled with excitement.
"This mean Gioni can freely eat now~ Gioni can take his time~ Gioni can savor every bite~ Gioni will crunch your bones and lick the marrow~ Gioni will eat you piece by piece while you still scream~"
He charged in the blink of an eye, his massive arms spread wide, fingers splayed like hungry claws, ready to scoop Javier up and stuff him into his gaping mouth.
Javier’s eyes tracked Gioni’s movement with cold precision, the world slowing around him as he observed the lumbering charge. His expression remained calm and unimpressed.
"Took you long enough to notice? What a dumb creature."
