Javier’s smirk widened. "Well... I’ll deal with it later. But for now, there’s some action that needs to be done... by ’Heres’~"
Marcellus just smirked, Cedric shook his head, and Aelius let out a quiet exhale before their attention shifted back to the holographic screen.
Meanwhile.
Vurghen’s Last Town.
Friedrich, still dazed and struggling to push himself up from the debris, lifted his gaze. His vision, blurred with blood and dust, focused on a figure standing amidst the smoke. A man in a dark coat with golden stripes, holding a sleek mana gun in each hand. His presence was calm, commanding, and effortlessly cool.
’Heres’ lifted one gun, resting it casually over his shoulder, a charming smirk playing on his lips.
"I suggest you all retreat now... or face a real, fast death."
The enemy cavalry captain narrowed his eyes, raising his dual-barrel flintlock pistol and aiming directly at ’Heres’ before pulling the trigger, firing both bullets at him.
’Heres’ smirked, shaking his head slowly. "Well... you asked for it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you." He swatted the bullets aside with the back of his left hand, the projectiles deflecting harmlessly into the ground.
He raised both gun. His movements were fluid, graceful, firing a rapid, controlled sequence. Each bullet found its mark with precision, disarming soldiers, shattering weapons, and sending horses rearing back in panic. His actions flowed into one another without pause, each motion deliberate and effortless.
The enemy captain barked an order, his voice cutting through the chaos. "Shoot him! All of you! Fire!"
A volley of explosive arrows streaked toward the sky, arcing down toward ’Heres’. He glanced up, a smirk still playing on his lips, before raising both gun and firing a rapid succession of shots. Each bullet met an arrow midair, detonating them before they could reach him.
He lowered his gaze, his eyes locking onto the enemy captain.
"I already gave you a chance to retreat. But you ignored my warning. Sorry to say, but I won’t let any of the enemy live after being given a chance to walk away."
Several enemy soldiers unsheathed their magic swords, their blades glowing with faint enchanted light as they charged toward ’Heres’ with coordinated fury.
’Heres’ stood still for a brief moment, his eyes closing as a calm, serene smile spread across his lips. He tilted his head slightly, as if listening to a distant melody.
The first soldier lunged, his sword arcing downward.
’Heres’ sidestepped with effortless grace, his body moving like water around the strike. He raised one gun, pressed it against the soldier’s temple, and fired. The soldier crumpled to the ground, lifeless.
Without opening his eyes, ’Heres’ twisted his body, spinning away from a second attacker’s horizontal slash. His other gun came up, firing a single shot that pierced the soldier’s throat. He dropped, choking, before falling still.
’Heres’ leaped backward, flipping through the air as two more soldiers charged at him from opposite directions. Mid-flip, he fired twice, both shots landing perfectly between their eyes. They collapsed in unison, their bodies hitting the ground with a dull thud.
He landed gracefully, his coat billowing around him. His eyes remained closed, his smile calm and undisturbed. He moved as if dancing to a rhythm only he could hear, each step, each twist, each shot flowing into the next with perfect timing.
A soldier rushed from behind, sword raised for a downward strike. ’Heres’ tilted his head to the side, listening to the shift in the air. He spun on his heel, ducking under the swing, and drove the butt of his pistol into the soldier’s jaw. As the soldier staggered back, ’Heres’ raised his other pistol and fired a single shot into his chest.
He straightened, finally opening his eyes. The battlefield around him was littered with fallen enemies, each struck down with surgical precision. He let out a soft, amused chuckle.
"Damn! This thing really follow how Heres fight."
’Heres’ glanced around, his gaze sweeping across the battlefield. Countless lifeless enemy soldiers lay scattered across the ground, including the enemy captain, his body slumped against a shattered wall. The explosive arrows he had shot down had rained fragments across the area, leaving craters and scorch marks on the ground.
Several buildings and houses nearby bore the scars of the earlier bombardment, their walls cracked and roofs collapsed from the attack that had occurred before his arrival.
He let out a low mutter, his voice calm and measured. "Lucky ’Heres’ arrived early. If not, there would have been more damage. Well... unlucky for the enemy."
He moved with a regal stride, holstering both mana guns at his waist before kneeling beside Friedrich. A smirk played on his lips as he looked down at the dazed lord.
He pulled out a syringe from his coat, the liquid inside glowing with a faint, pale blue light, and injected it into Friedrich’s arm with a confident smirk.
"Hey~ Don’t worry. You’re not going to die."
Friedrich’s vision began to clear, the bleeding slowing as the medicine took effect. He tried to move, but ’Heres’ placed a hand on his shoulder, holding him down.
Friedrich’s voice came out in a low, panicked rasp. "My sister... please... save her..."
’Heres’ smiled gently and nodded. He rose and walked toward the overturned carriage. With one hand, he gripped the broken frame and lifted it effortlessly, tossing it aside as if it weighed nothing.
Behind it, Friedrich’s sister lay unconscious, her body still but breathing.
’Heres’ knelt beside her, pressing two fingers against her neck to check her pulse. He let out a quiet breath of relief before pulling out another syringe and a small bottle of liquid. He filled the syringe, tapped it gently, and injected it into her shoulder.
’Heres’ smiled as the girl’s breathing gradually steadied and deepened. Her eyelids fluttered before slowly opening, revealing dazed but clear eyes.
"Hello cutie~"
The girl’s eyes widened, her gaze focusing on the handsome man holding her. Her cheeks flushed a soft pink as she took in his charming smile and beautiful, gentle eyes.
"U... umm..."
"Thank God you’re okay~ Can you stand now?"
She nodded hesitantly, and ’Heres’ helped her rise to her feet with gentle, steady hands. She fidgeted for a moment, her cheeks still warm, before her eyes landed on her brother lying on the ground.
"Brother!!" She rushed to his side, kneeling and carefully helping him sit up.
"Don’t worry, Emeline... I’m fine. Thanks to that gentleman who helped us."
Emeline turned, rising gracefully before offering a formal curtsy, her voice carrying the practiced poise of a noble lady.
"Thank you for saving us, sir. Pardon my rudeness, but may I have the honor of knowing the name of our savior?"
