Reborn As Noble Chapter 1422: A Tall Figure in a Dark Coat ( 1422 )
Previously on Reborn As Noble...
Javier snapped his fingers, and a set of gear materialized on the table. It was sleek and black, with a modern, tactical design: a form-fitting helmet with a built-in visor, a thin but durable vest with integrated barrier runes, a black combat uniform, a tactical mask, and special goggles with enchanted lenses.
Aelius rubbed his chin, his eyes scanning the gear before turning his gaze toward Javier. "Isn’t this the gear our military has been using?"
"Yes."
"What for?"
Javier narrowed his eyes at him. "I already said, a demonstration, right?"
"Oh, right."
"Now, Heres, help me equip this on the dummy," Javier said before glancing around. "Oi... where’s Heres?"
They all turned their gazes toward the deck chairs where Heres was sprawled across one, flat on his back, snoring softly. A golden wine bottle was hugged tightly against his chest, and his lips moved in a faint, mumbling whisper.
"Kliatana..."
Javier pinched the bridge of his nose, letting out a long, weary exhale. "Damn. No wonder it felt too quiet. I was wondering why he hadn’t said a single word for the past twenty minutes."
Marcellus smirked, glancing at Javier. "Should we wake him up?"
Javier shook his head, a sly grin spreading across his face. "No... we don’t need to." He took off the control helmet from his head and moved toward Heres in a slow, sneaky move.
Aelius shook his head with a sigh. "What are you doing?"
Javier grinned mischievously. "Heheh~ Since he’s asleep, we should make him the one to demonstrate the gear. The Humanoid puppet knight can be programmed to mimic the wearer’s traits, face, and body movements."
Aelius raised an eyebrow. "Hmm? How?"
"Well, it’s like this~"
Javier slowly slipped the control helmet onto Heres’s head, careful not to wake him. He pressed a small rune on the side of the helmet, activating it with a soft hum, before pulled out a portable mana computer from his dimensional storage, flipping it open and connecting a cable from the computer to the helmet. His fingers moved with precise speed across the keyboard, typing in commands and adjusting settings.
Runes flickered across the screen, displaying complex arrays and synchronization patterns.
Javier pressed a button on the computer, and a holographic display flickered to life in front of them. Multiple windows appeared.
The main screen showed a live video feed from the Humanoid’s point of view. It was currently viewing the world from high above, a panoramic aerial feed from the Sky Eyes satellite system.
To the left, smaller screens appeared: one showed a real-time feed from a high-altitude scout drone, another from a low-altitude reconnaissance unit, and one more displayed a thermal imaging overlay of a conflict zone.
The final screen, on the far right, showed the chaotic scene of the attack on Vurghen’s last town. Explosive arrows rained down, a carriage lay overturned, smoke billowed, and figures could be seen moving amidst the wreckage.
Marcellus, Cedric, and Aelius stood behind him, their eyes fixed on the multiple screens, watching the unfolding chaos in real-time.
Javier’s smirk widened. He lifted one finger, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "Well, we can’t let the last heir die, or my mission will be pointless~"
He glanced at the screen showing the chaos unfolding in Vurghen, then back at the sleeping Heres. His grin turned sly.
"Time for our ’King of Arjam’ to make an appearance."
He tapped the button.
The Humanoid puppet knight, synchronized with Heres’s mind, leaped from the Sky Eyes platform high above. The wind howled past as he fell, his long coat flapping wildly behind him, cutting through the air like a dark blade.
The Humanoid twisted midair, orienting himself with fluid grace. His hands moved to his waist, drawing two sleek mana gun with practiced ease. His voice, calm and charming, carried through the speaker.
"Time for some action~"
Below, the chaos of the battlefield continued. Explosive arrows rained down, smoke billowed, and the overturned carriage lay shattered. Friedrich was struggling to push himself up, his sister’s weak voice calling for him from nearby.
’Heres’ landed with a thunderous crash, the ground beneath him cracking and sending a shockwave of dust and debris scattering outward.
The enemy light cavalry units, who had been about to charge in for the final kill on Friedrich, skidded to a halt. Their horses whinnied and reared back, spooked by the sudden, violent descent. The soldiers stared, wide-eyed and bewildered, at the figure who had just fallen from the sky.
The dust settled, revealing a tall figure in a dark coat, dual guns held at his sides.
Marcellus, Cedric, and Aelius, who were watching the live feed from the huge holographic screen, shook their heads while crossing their arms.
"Oi, little brother."
Javier smirked, glancing sideways at them with one finger still raised. "What?"
Marcellus hissed, his voice low. "Heres isn’t that cool. And he’s definitely not that charming."
Javier’s smirk widened as he slipped a microphone headset over his ear and a pair of gesture-sensitive controller gloves onto both hands. He gave the three of them a playful two-fingered salute before pressing a button on the side of the computer, switching the Humanoid to autonomous combat mode.
"The helmet I put on Heres is recording his neural patterns, his reflexes, his subconscious combat instincts. It’s copying what Heres is capable of. Well..." Javier’s grin turned sly. "I might have added a little flair to the programming. But the core is still him~"
Cedric crossed his arms, pinching the bridge of his nose with a sigh. "You might have added a little too much flair, little brother."
Javier shrugged, his eyes still on the screen. "Well... if you want this Humanoid to have your face instead, I can change it now while the people down there still don’t recognize him. But~"
"But?" Aelius asked, raising an eyebrow.
"If you’re ready to make that younger sister of Friedrich your wife, I can make sure the Humanoid is yours~"
All three of them immediately raised their hands in a panicked, synchronized wave. "No, no, no! Heres is the suitable candidate!"
Marcellus sighed, shaking his head with a wry smile. "You’re going to be in huge trouble when he wakes up, little brother."
