Reborn as an Extra Chapter 883: The Taste of Death, Rio Vs. Demon King! Part-3.
Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
Awakener classes were something you would awaken directly at the beginning of your awakening process, and they were fixed in stone for everyone!
Even Fade, who had many chances and cheats in the original novel, never managed to change his class and remained a mage until the very end!
Moreover, Rio was fond of his swordsmanship skills; thus, he hadn’t even thought about changing classes at all.
But the Demon King once again refreshed Rio’s horizons and made him realize that a thousand years worth of experience was not so easily overcome!
With just a few words and a barely noticeable miasmic energy cost, the Demon King changed with the awakener class in an instant as if he were changing clothes!
It was so effortless that even Rio found it hard to believe!
’He twisted the strings of destinies from the very source!’
The Demon King Nebo Dahaka was from a thousand years ago, and he had awakened his class many years ago, so to change his own class like this, he would need to change the class specifications in that long gone past!
The energy and mastery needed to change a thousand-year-old past was so tremendous that Rio could not even imagine it properly, and yet the Demon King had done it without even needing much energy.
’Overwhelming talent and a thousand years of mastering your legendary skill... this is the result of insane hard work combined with extremely high talent.’
The Demon King hadn’t spent the past thousand years just sitting on a throne and confined to a castle; his skill level clearly showed he had worked hard every single day to master his legendary skill to this extent!
’In terms of legendary skill mastery, I likely can’t win against this guy with my current level...’
While the opponent had beyond hundred percent mastery of his legendary skill, Rio was not even at 100 percent mastery and couldn’t even use the most iconic ability of his sword intent; the skill gap was too massive!
The moment the Demon King cast his new magic, Rio immediately felt the effect.
The entire void started to crack open, and void storms raged in the area.
Rio clearly felt the crown of endless realms weaken at an alarming rate due to being hit by three factors at once!
Not on the Demon King’s world, authority was steadily pushing the crown back; the space-type spell cast was starting to destabilize the realm created by the crown, making it even weaker.
And now this new destiny manipulation spell was sending powerful waves directly into the strings of destinies attached to the crown and making it even weaker!
’He’s trying to break the crown of endless realms to make his world authority come into full use!’
Rio had long known that the world authority of the crown would likely not win against the Demon King, and he had only used the crown’s world authority as a temporary method to hold the Demon King’s world authority down.
Aiming his sword at the Demon King, Rio tried to make the Demon King’s offensive spell lose lethality by making his soul go out of control for a second, but to Rio’s surprise, the soul attack did not work; instead, it backfired!
The soul attack sent by Rio came rushing back at him as if it had been bounced off by a powerful ability!
"You don’t think that I don’t know you have the ability to manipulate souls, do you?"
The Demon King showed a bluish bracelet on his lower right hand and replied in a calm voice,
"Alverto once created many soul defense-type artifacts for Aurora; before leaving, she left this one for me to keep as a remembrance for him."
"It’s imbued with the power of legendary skill once possessed by Alverto ’Soul Resonance’ and nullifies all soul attacks to a certain extent."
A faint smile appeared on Rio’s face looking at that bracelet as he felt the familiar aura of Alverto from that artifact.
’Heh, even in death, you are just as much of a pain in the a*s!’
’Destiny manipulation, soul splitting, soul manipulation, mental attacks, elemental attacks... almost all are useless against him.’
For the first time, Rio met someone who could nullify all of his trump cards to easily keep fighting without even getting as much a scratch!
’I heard that Ashtel Rex had repeatedly injured him when fighting, and here I am who can’t even land a single slash on him... how disheartening.’
’I guess I have no other choice left but to use underhanded tactics too then...’
Nearly all of Rio’s skills and elemental abilities were perfectly countered by the Demon King, so much so that he couldn’t help but rely entirely on miasma now!
Massive amounts of miasmic crystals burst out of Rio’s space ring and cracked open to spill miasma into the void!
’It took ages to make these miasma crystals, but if I don’t use them, know I will lose!’
As if an entire ocean of miasma was summoned by Rio, a massive amount of miasmic corruption rushed in all directions as the crystals broke open.
Rio redirected the miasma to reinforce the crown of endless realms and attack the ’True Paradise’ realm created through the Demon King’s world authority!
Rio even tried to use his powerful miasma control to make the miasma inside the Demon King’s body go berserk, but he found that the Demon King was using a powerful light elemental artifact to stabilize the miasma in his body!
’Just how many pseudo-legendary artifacts does this fellow have!? Were there really that much in that treasury earlier!? I didn’t even notice them!’
Not caring about material wealth and artifacts was one of Rio’s greatest shortcomings.
He had no interest in wealth and fame, and even when he visited the treasury of the demon palace, Rio didn’t bother taking a proper look at the artifacts stored there.
If he had chosen to take some of those artifacts when given the chance, he could have weakened the Demon King tremendously!
