Reborn as an Extra Chapter 854: To The Demon Continent! Part-4.

"So you have decided to leave today... do you really need to go alone, though? How about I go there with you?"
Ashtel Rex, who had come over to see Rio off in Link and Riya’s place, couldn’t help but feel a bit worried about Rio’s safety.
The demon continent itself wasn’t that much of a big deal for someone like Rio, who could control miasma, but the danger posed by the Demon King was a completely different story.
The Demon King Nebo Dahaka had a very strange world authority and legendary skill that even Ashtel found hard to counter.
Letting Rio go to confront someone so strong all alone was something Ashtel would have never agreed to in normal times.
Alas, this was all Rio’s own choice, and Ashtel could not meddle with someone else’s ’Path’ even if he wanted to.
"Don’t worry, I will be fine... in fact, the demon king should be the one worried about his safety, not me, hehe~"
Rio’s tone carried an unmistakable sense of confidence, almost as if he already knew what was going to happen.
Not only was Rio not afraid, but he was actually excited to go on this adventure!
’The spirit realm has proved that entering an area with extremely high miasmic density is quite beneficial to me...’
’Moreover, I can no longer keep suppressing my ascension... it will become more and more difficult to control it the more time passes... I need to strike when the iron is still hot...’
Looking at the clear blue sky and feeling the refreshing morning breeze, Rio knew it was almost time to go.
"I will be back in a week or a month at most, don’t worry, I will be fine."
With Rio’s repeated guarantee, Ashtel had no other choice but to nod his head and comply with Rio’s demands.
"Fine, take care of yourself... and if some difficult situation arrives, send a signal, I will be there in a minute!"
"Even if I can’t fight the demon king, everyone else from him is a piece of cake for me..."
Rio nodded his head in approval,
"Good, I will do so if the need arises."
Seeing Ashtel done talking, Lia walked over and asked Rio to show the hilt of his sword to her.
Rio showed his sword ’Vinash’ to Lia without hesitation.
"I made this lucky charm for you... Mel said that in older times, when a loved one headed to war or some kind of dangerous mission, giving them a lucky charm would help them return home safely..."
"Keep this with you and return home safe..."
Lia bound the cute little lucky charm to the hilt of his sword and stepped back with reluctance.
"Thank you, I will take good care of it... I will be back soon."
With that said, Rio gave a farewell nod to both James and Lia, smiled at them one last time, and then activated the power of the ’Crown of Endless Realms!’
*SHmmm!*
Using the power of the crown, Rio opened a wormhole portal and stepped inside it without hesitation.
Ever since Rio got the crown, he had gained access to the ability of instantaneous teleportation.
Now he could easily go anywhere in the universe using the crown; thus, there was no more need for Rio to journey through the sea via boats or ships.
He directly asked Ashtel about the exact coordinates of the ’Forbidden Edge’ and teleported himself there instantly!
Atop the gigantic cliff covered in dark black ash like sand, the space-time fabric warped a portal that opened out of nowhere.
Demons, monsters, horrors, spirits, and all sorts of creatures of darkness in the nearby area felt a sudden palpitation and sense of horror grip their very souls as a figure clad in dark black robes stepped out of the teleportation portal.
"So this is what the ’Forbidden Edge’ looks like in reality... it’s more grotesque than I was expecting it be..."
Looking at the scenery, the smile that hung on Rio’s face when he bid farewell to Lia disappeared, and his usual expressionless look reappeared on his face once again.
His eyes shone with a dark miasmic aura as he stared at the dark purplish-red seawater from atop the black cliff.
’That’s the ’Sea of Wailing Souls’?... It looks just as ugly as it was described in the novel...’
The Demon Continent was a cruel place where the rule of the jungle prevailed.
The stronger ones got all the privileges, and the weaker demons had to face endless suffering, so there was no small number of demons that would try to escape the Demon Continent all year long.
The Forbidden Edge was the main entrance to the Demon Continent, and many demons who wished to escape this cruel land of death and destruction often came to this area to escape by sea!
Unfortunately, this black cliff covered in charred miasmic ash was not called the ’Forbidden Edge of the Demon Continent’ for no reason.
This place was a forbidden ground for demons because whoever tried to escape from this location would usually meet a horrific end.
Most demons couldn’t even make it past the sea, let alone reach the nearest land.
The nearest land from this place was the southernmost tip of the Elven continent, which was a heavily fortified military area, and at least one peak SS-ranker was stationed there all year round!
Whenever a demon tried to escape the Demon Continent, the various spells and barriers placed on this sea area would rampage and rip the demon’s body apart!
Then the spell arrays would absorb the souls of these dead demons to use as fuel for the array! Forever trapping the souls of these dead demons in the sea!
This purplish-red color of the sea was not a naturally occurring phenomenon at all; it was created by the miasma from the trapped corrupted souls, who were constantly releasing their murderous intent in the sea towards the living!
These trapped souls were always wailing and cursing the living.
Thus, it was nearly impossible for anyone below rank S to even physically travel around in this sea area; not even the strongest enchantment-equipped ships dared to pass through this sea area!
’From what I am seeing... at least a few million demon souls are still trapped in the bottom of this sea...’
’Despite the fact that all souls get annihilated over time as their energy gets used by the spell arrays to fuel itself, the number of demons dying in this area every year is simply too high...’
’What an unpleasant place...’
