The tribe chief recounts the history of Cyria-229, revealing it was once a technologically advanced Dwarven world. A universal event scattered the Dwarves, leaving the planet to decay. Later, Half-Orcs arrived via wormhole and settled near ancient temple ruins. Their tribe discovered an angel-like being, and its arrival awakened a primordial entity.
“What do you mean by a primordial being?” Linking heard the tribe chief’s question and the old man let out a sigh. He glanced at the injured half-orc women recuperating nearby before speaking with solemnity. “We don’t precisely grasp what the entity was or is… but on the day we escorted that Lord Angel to our encampment, its ancient and potent voice reverberated within the minds of us all… “That ‘being’ commanded us to deliver the angel to its altar…” The old chief shook his head, continuing with evident distress. “Our tribe has dwelled in this locale for centuries, and such an inexplicable occurrence has never transpired before… “Therefore, we conjectured that our transgression of bringing that individual here might have offended the deity once revered in this ruined temple…” Lia’s brow furrowed upon hearing this. “So, you all didn’t even consider resisting the sudden demands of an unknown entity, despite the potential malevolence it posed to your tribe should you comply?” “What if a formidable demon was entombed within that altar? Handing over the captive you apprehended would essentially be providing the demon with a willing vessel, enabling it to possess them and unleash terror upon your people?” Lia’s inquiries were earnest, and her apprehension was entirely justified. Throughout the vast expanse of the past two millennia, humanity and numerous other races have undertaken the perilous task of sealing away countless potent demons in diverse locations. Many might ponder why demons are sealed rather than annihilated outright. However, the rationale behind this is remarkably straightforward. Similar to all other races, humanity is subject to the relentless march of time; individuals are born, grow old, and eventually perish. This same principle applies to the collective strength of a race; it fluctuates with the ebb and flow of eras, as novel technologies emerge while others fade into obscurity. Humanity once boasted powerful SS-rank individuals during the millennium-long demon extinction war. Yet, in the aftermath, there was a period where the human race lacked any SS-rankers, as virtually the entire golden generation was decimated! Most of them met their end in the conflict itself, while King Allen, armed with the sword forged from Astra’s remains – the sword of promised destinies – embarked on his ill-fated expedition into the Sea of Miasma! Such intervals, devoid of SS-rankers within the entirety of the human race, were exceedingly brief, yet they exerted a profound influence on the entire species. SS-rankers are not mass-produced commodities; they are exceptionally gifted beings who manifest only once in several decades, or perhaps even centuries! Some races have never even witnessed the emergence of an SS-ranker since the dawn of the mana and miasma era! During these critical junctures, when no SS-rankers are available to confront external menaces like demons and malevolent spirits, most races find themselves with no alternative but to either seek assistance from the SS-rankers of other races via the world alliance, Or, alternatively, seal the demon with a potent artifact, deferring the resolution of the threat to future generations. These seals are typically constructed with the sole purpose of temporarily incarcerating the demons, thereby allowing for their eventual liberation by a future SS-ranker, who can then decisively resolve the issue! Although this approach is fraught with peril and complexity, numerous races have resorted to it in the past, primarily to preserve their honor and circumvent economic hardship. Summoning SS-rankers from other races to fight on one’s behalf is no trivial undertaking; it demands astronomical resources and frequently entails inequitable pacts and demeaning trade agreements that severely cripple a nation’s economy! For intrinsically powerful races such as humans, elves, and orcs, soliciting aid from others represents a humiliating ordeal that none wish to endure! This serves as a primary impetus behind the government of the current human empire channeling billions upon billions of WAAC funds into the development of premier academies and training facilities for awakeners! The illustrious Great Freya Academy, from which Rio and his companions graduated, owes its existence to the nation’s unwavering commitment, pouring its most abundant resources and cutting-edge technologies into nurturing even a single additional SS-ranker for the human race! The mere advent of a new SS-ranker is sufficient to elevate the prestige of an entire race on the global stage! ... “Sigh… we yearned to resist, but it proved utterly futile… The instant that higher being’s voice permeated our minds, it was as if we had all been subjugated into becoming unwitting puppets of the entity… “Our bodies acted according to the higher being’s will, and we found ourselves incapable of defying the commands of that voice, regardless of our efforts…” Upon hearing the old chief’s confession, Lia’s frown deepened. She immediately directed her gaze towards the threads of destiny of every half-orc present within the tent. Yet, to her astonishment, all the threads appeared normal, with the sole exception of the injured woman. As if sensing Lia’s scrutiny, the old chief sighed and began to speak."Yasna possesses a rare awakened class, that of a 'Psychic'. An innate awakener, her skill in intercepting psychic and mind waves has always been exceptionally potent..." "However, this very ability renders her acutely sensitive to the mental fluctuations of powerful entities, something weaker individuals would never detect." "She was once hailed as the genius prodigy of our tribe, destined to be the next chieftain. But following that peculiar voice that assailed us all, everything took a turn for the worse..." The ancient chieftain spoke with profound sorrow, explaining, "That magnificent being appeared to favor her unique class. Its overwhelming mental fluctuations forcefully breached her mind and soul, inflicting damage upon her sea of consciousness..." "She was compelled to forge a master-servant contract, as the entity proclaimed her to be its 'Oracle'..." Yasna, an unwitting soul, found herself ensnared in the conflict when a formidable being's attention swept across this realm via the altar.
